The owners greeted us like old friends - baby balanced on one hip - and immediately brought fresh water for our dogs. The staff was super attentive and made our group feel at home. Staying in Garberville fora night but the good food joints are closed on a Monday so drove a couple miles to Redway. Very happy with the meal we ordered at the Lost Frenchman: pizza, garden salad, artichoke appetizer. Share it all and was perfectly satisfied. This restaurant uses good quality ingredients. The inside is a bit run down with chair cushions that were cracked and peeling, not cleanable anymore but this was my only complaint. You can take the food to go, but that staff and service were very pleasant. I easily recommend this place. read more

Given the limited number of places to eat in the area, this is a very good option. There is a shaded patio out back and dogs are welcome. There was even a water bowl for them. They made a half pepperoni and half white something for us. It was fresh and decent. Toppings were pretty generous (I can't get enough pepperoni so I try to be reasonable in my reviews). I want to move to this town just so I can eat here regularly. My favorite thing? The adorable baby crawling and scooting across the restaurant in her walker! You leave here feeling like part of the family! We stopped in back in March '25 while on a roadtrip back home to San Diego from Eureka and ordered WAY too much food because everything looked so good. Stopped in with some buddies after a long day in the mountains. We were greeted walking in the door, with options of both inside or out, we went for the backyard. Friendly service, thats professional and efficient - our server followed us out with menus in hand. We found a spot outside on the backyard and deck area, that was very comfortable and a chill environment. Our server returned with water for everyone and we started with a pitcher for Stella on tap. A pitcher returned within a couple minutes, frosty and cold - its pours about 4.5 full pint glasses. we weren't really hungry but wanted a couple snack items, so we ordered a few different appetizers to go with our cold beverages. Three to be exact, so there was enough to go around. First, the Cheesy Garlic Pizza bread sticks, a flat bread with a side dipping sauce. This is a nice flat bread loaded with cheesy garlic and the side red sauce works well with it. Second, The Artisan plate, this is an assortment of a couple sliced meats, a couple cheeses, crackers and breads with a small cup of fresh olives and some sliced green appples. It was a good plate and assortment that everyone enjoyed. and then, the Artichokes - a single split choke, fire roasted and stuffed with garlic with a basil balsamic. It was just okay, not enough the really share, this was the least favorite of the three we ordered and not much in the way of a snack for the price, would not get it again. We were in garberville visiting my brother and the Airbnb host suggested this place. It was pretty pricey and all we got was a vegetarian pizza, chicken alfredo and a salad. The salad being $12 was a pile of spinach. Maybe two strawberries cut up and a sprinkle of bacon bits. Didn't really seem worth the price so I'd skip it next time and just go for the pizza. read more

I was looking forward to trying some the other menu items but, for now, they have reduced the menu to pizza, soup and salads on Mondays and Tuesdays due to a decrease in patronage due to the end of summer/vacation season. Here's the update... same great place! I'm always a little hesitant revisiting a restaurant where you had a great time because the not-as-good-syndrome can strike. But not here, it was actually better. If you are looking for gluten free pizza, the cauliflower crust is a must. Probably in the top 2 or 3 in my Northern California experience. Whatever you pick for a topping or crust will be as good as your second choice. The place looks appropriately casual, but the wait staff isn't. They are pros and we were treated to 'Brandi-with-a-heart-over-the-i'. She could make any party shine. The prices have not given way to the tsunami of price increases that sweeps across most restaurants. If you are on Hwy 101 it is well worth the short drive to Redway from Garberville. If you are headed North, Eureka is your next stop for great food. read more
