I was here on holiday with my boyfriend family just a night to explore Killarney national park on a very last minute trip. The hotel is very spacious rooms and staffing were very nice to upgrade us. It has a nice elegant old feel but classy touch atmosphere. It was in the heart of town which it makes getting around very easy by walking to pubs and restaurants

A former Great Southern hotel, still quite posh but not at all stuffy. The fireplace in the entry sets the tone, as do the elegant and spacious public rooms. Tastefully furnished & well appointed rooms feature wonderful beds, so comfortable. The 6 acres of grounds are beautifully landscaped. Staff was unfailingly helpful and welcoming. Breakfast was a treat, such tasty choices. Stay here, unwind and enjoy!

Hotel itself needs a bit of an uplift, however the staff and food is excellent. I will definitely return.

Stayed three nights here and loved the room and location given the easy access to town. Breakfasts…read morewere great options for the buffet or off the menu. Hotel is very busy with tours and golfers making up most of the guests it appears. Well decorated and very comfortable area around the hotel to read a book or sit by the fireplace. We had what we were told a 'smart' room but we're still trying to figure out what was smart about it. The lights are controlled by either a wall pad or pads at the bedside. Problem is that there doesn't seem to be a way to just have bathroom lights on without the bedroom lights bring on as well. Looks like you could turn off the bed lights bring which would take it off the 'smart' pads and the lamp switches are not easily accessible if you have to access them again. Our other issue was with the 'smart' tv. Turning on the tv the hotel's information screen would come on. Selecting the tv option gets you the tv which is where the problem starts. Hitting the Guide button, which on other tvs, gets you a list of channels and what shows are on. Pressing this one takes you back to the hotel screen. Going back into the tv you find that you'll see each tv station available and in order to know what's on you need to look at each channel separately. Not a pleasant experience. Jack, our porter who was very helpful providing information about the hotel, tried to figure out what was going on but couldn't. Another porter also tried to help but again was stumped. Reported the issue at the reception desk. Was told they would have someone look at it. Came back in the afternoon to find the tv on and thought the problem was fixed (no notes left telling us what happened) but nothing was changed. Reported it again, was told someone would look at but again nothing. Should also mention when we first arrived at the room it appeared the room had not been vacuumed. Same thing the next day so that had to be reported as well. Rating is given because of the lack of interest or concern of the staff about the problems that we were having. Lovely hotel, very comfortable, good food but if the staff commitment isn't there that just detracts from the experience.

I had to wait in line a bit to check in, but it wasn't too bad. The woman who checked me in gave me her name if I had any issues which I thought was nice. The room was nice, but nothing fancy. I was looking forward to using the pool, sauna, and hot tub, and I did once, but there weren't any lounge chairs. I don't know if I've ever been to a pool area like that where you couldn't sit and relax with a book. I went to the little coffee shop restaurant a couple times to get something quick for breakfast. There's also a grocery store very close. Overall, I would stay here again.

The hotel itself feels warm and sophisticated with many areas to take a seat and relax near a fireplace or in a quieter area. This is a great destination for rejuvenation and restoration. The restaurant near the lobby is exceptional with meticulous attention to every detail of service, though you may need a reservation. The presentation of food and allergens are neatly detailed for every offering with many gluten free options. The food was delicious and perfectly prepared and the service exceptional. The room itself is very well appointed and laid out in one of the most travel friendly designs I have seen. A desk, a seating area with a table to enjoy your morning beverage by the window, a refrigerator neatly hidden under the television. A closet with ample space but also a shelf to organize your travel items and clothing on the other side of the room wall so things stay neatly out of site. Thank you to the designer of this room! Robes and slippers for two placed at the foot of the bed. A nice size Tv and coffee or tea service at the desk. The bathroom includes both a shower and a comfortable size bathtub. The hotel also offers a nice bar downstairs and please consider making a spa appointment to enhance your experience. If you are in the area, this is the place to stay.

We were so excited and booked a garden deluxe room at over $500 a night. When we arrived, the room looked nothing like the pictures. The pictures have a lovely blue and green updated room as the garden deluxe. Our room was old and red and yellow. It is incredibly dated with the exception of the bathroom which appears to be renovated. The carpet is incredibly worn and there is no hvac. Your only option is opening the windows but then you have all the outside noise coming in. When we checked the bed upon arriving at our room we found the bed was completely covered in urine stains. The front desk thankfully promptly replaced our mattress but at $500 a night I would have expected this mattress to be out of circulation long before or housekeeping to catch this. The room was pretty dusty as well. I went to pick up the fan to set it up and my black outfit got completely covered in dust from it. The redemption was all the service we received was prompt and super helpful and they made it right with a new mattress. The breakfast included each day was robust and delicious. Overall, not a bad stay, but it was not worth the premium price they charge.
