Taste - 3/5 Had we gotten just the mango lassi...it would be a stone cold 5/5. We ended up getting the butter chicken and the karahi with beef. The small details of the dishes left us disappointed. The sauces paired very well with the naan bread, of which there was a hearty portion. However, the beef had hard, burnt chunks of some sort seasoning and the chicken had too much nutmeg taste. For the taste, it wasn't good enough to order again. Price - 2/5 We spent ~$45 w/ tip and we felt that it wasn't the greatest value. The entrees were $15/each for a small to-go cup. The side of rice and naan offset the high cost but the value just wasn't there in our opinion. The mango lassi at $5 was HIGH VALUE for how good it was. Speed/Service - 1/5 This was the most disappointing aspect of our visit. It took 10 minutes to be greeted and another 10 minutes to put in our to-go order. Once the server ascertained whether we were dining in or to-go, she elected to seat a couple who came in after us and tend to her tables. It seemed like a poor use of time. For the price and taste, it wasn't worth the wait. They dodged a 0/5 because they clearly needed an additional server or support staff member. Our server did save us a few bucks with her knowledge of the menu. Lastly, they originally forgot to give us our mango lassi (or plastic ware and napkins) but we drove back to get it and we're thankful we did. read more

I was on a road trip with my family and we stopped in on whim. Service was slow but the severs made sure we knew right off the bat they were busy and that it would take a while. I appreciated them letting us know and it was worth the wait! My family and I had kebabs, veggie saffron rice, and paneer tikka masala and all of it was really good and I'd recommend all those items! read more

I absolutely LOVE the food at the Mango Tree but ... two times in a row the service was bad. One time we waited 20 minutes to have our order taken and 35-40 minutes for the food to be served. No explanation. No apologies. No acknowledgement. No visit to our table to see if we wanted anything before our order. We just left at 8:27 because the "kitchen is closed" when we were told online that the restaurant is open until 9. If you aren't hungry, go ahead and visit The Mango Tree. I found a safety pin in my curry takeout. When I called them to ask for a refund, they said they'd call me back. They never did. So here I am. FWIW, the curry was good until I found the safety pin. At least they had the decency to keep the safety pin closed. read more

Taste was fine. Service was great. Portions were skimpy. I ordered coconut chicken and there were literally 7 bites of chicken...$12 seems a bit steep. Plus, you choose between naan bread and rice. As someone who grew up with my grand mother's curry from her time in India, from someone who makes a damn good authentic one herself, and from a couple who developed quite the palate for traditional Indian food in San Diego, this is perfect. Regardless, they have the market on Indian cuisine in the panhandle. The next Indian restaurant is in Northtown area of Spokane. For our first time, we had Samosas, mango lassi, lamb vindaloo (5), butter chicken (3), and cheese naan. We dined in and enjoyed the cozy and colorful atmosphere, served by our awesome waitress Emma L. Our Samosas were hot, crisp yet soft, and so full of flavor! I loved these! Samosas were some of my favorite appetizers at my fave Indian restaurants in SD and this was probably my favorite. Their house made sauces were excellent as well. My mango lassi was pretty good. Not very tart for a lassi and more on the sweet side but the mango flavor was great. My fiancé's lamb vindaloo (5) had a slow and steady heat to it. However, for us, the level 5 was probably a level 3 at Indian shops in SD and SoCal. My three wasn't spicy at all for me personally. Regardless, our meat was tender, and the curries were exceptionally flavorful! The key with good curries is to really develop the flavors of the sauce over time and this place is really doing a great job at that. For day two of their service, it's awesome. Our waitress Emma was very attentive, helpful, and knowledgeable about the menu. The basmati rice was cooked perfectly and not hard nor sticky - important. The cheese naan was good but resembled a pita quesadilla in my opinion. Either way the quality of the naan itself was fresh, fluffy, and had great flavor. For our take out we got Pakora Chicken as an appetizer, coconut chicken curry (5), channa masala (5), and garlic naan. I'll update after I consume! This place for it being their first week is a winner! Mango Tree is a great date night spot, it's beautifully decorated, their menu includes suggested alcohol pairings, and the flavors of their food is fabulous - especially for the area! I wish them the best and think they will do well here if they keep Edit: they've really upped their spice *insert cry laugh emoji*. 3 was too weak for me, 5 was too hot, I just tried the 4 and HOT DAMN that was how the 5 was. Poorly managed business. Ordered food online. Showed up before estimated time of ready. Waited for the message that the food was ready. When inside found that only two people are working in the front. One works the bar and the restaurant and the other one works as a waitress in the remaining part of the restaurant. The staff didn't know that my food was ready. I waited 20 minutes after I told them I received the message that it was ready. When I got the food it was lukewarm. Holy cow! This place is soooo good! I love it! We had the Samosa to start with. It came out with a mint/cilantro sauce and a sweet and spicy red sauce. To be honest, i wanted to lick the bowls, the sauces were so good! For lunch, I had the Tiki Marsala, it was so creamy and delicious, it is a total comfort food. My Mom had the Chili curry which was flavorful and well, just fantastic! The staff is super friendly, the restaurant is clean and there are so many choices on the menu that I will have to come again and again and again, so that I can try them all! Absolutely will be going back frequently. The spices were fantastic and the presentation was beautiful. I went for lunch but will be going back for dinner often. Food taste OK, The portions are kind of small. Prices are a bit high. Service was good but kind of slow. It's not a bad place, but I have no reason to go back. The food here was good, the service was not. The waiter checked on us once every 20 minutes. It seemed as if this one waiter was servicing the entire restaurant. When it came time to leave she gave us the wrong check for $20 more than we had ordered. When she took my card and came back she had not even run it and attempted to hand me another individuals card. We are delighted to have a quality place in town serving Indian food. We stopped in again for our anniversary meal, and the whole experience was a pleasure. I held back on a five-star rating because there is no lunch buffet, and in my opinion, it is affecting the business. The best Indian restaurants I know are packed with patrons who want to sample something of everything, thus discovering tasty dishes they would like to order in the future. And yes, some of us would enjoy crossing the line without shame to partake of seconds at the buffet bar. Sadly, on both occasions we have visited The Mango Tree, the establishment was virtually empty. The servers were excellent, and helped us with menu items. But where were the owners, dare I say, Indians, who could contribute to the sense of cultural community by greeting their clients on arrival, like a mom and pop eatery? I fear these aspects add up to a rather impersonal eating out excursion. As good as the food is, when culture is in the background or is merely an afterthought, patrons sense it and will space their visits further apart. I would like The Mango Tree to thrive, not disappoint. Bring back your patrons. Starting with a quality buffet could be a start. read more

Food is pretty good for Idaho Indian but nothing that would likely stay in business for long in Seattle/Vancouver. Portions are very inconsistent yet always on the smaller side. Prices are what's really bothersome as it's more expensive than some of the great Indian food you can find around the country. This isn't Seattle so shouldn't be priced at 15$ per curry dish or $20 for buffet. Think this place was started by a Canadian so maybe they haven't discovered the conversion rate. Imagine overpriced places like this will have a hard time in the days ahead if they don't change their business model. read more

I LOVE mango tree but unfortunately have had so many instances where I've came and they won't serve. They close at 9PM, showed up at 8:20 and wouldn't be served because they "closed" at 8:15. New restaurant in CDA close to our house. Came here on a date night with my wife to try it out. I got the beef curry bowl and my wife got the coconut chicken bowl. These each came with basmati rice. We also got some garlic naan. The curry bowls were very good. The bowls were both spicy (we ordered 3 on a scale of 1-5) and flavorful. The portion sizes were pretty small (think small cereal bowl size). The pieces of chicken and beef were too big. They need to be cut in half, at least. It was also a little chewy.
