We purchased several books we just couldn't leave without. If I were to make a suggestion, I would want to make certain the people in the checkout are personable. There were three people present today (staff) while we were there. I believe I was "helped" by the manager - she seemed to be training someone(?). Customer service was not her strong suit to say the least. Perhaps a bad day? Otherwise, a worthwhile stop. The end.

All the Dubray's shops are a bit different though, this one is more modern and wider then Hanna's down the road, but less developed in terms of stock. The store is big and bright with helpful and firendly staff. Although the place is nice, I can't help but feel the swan centre has seen better days. Lets hope it doesn't affect the always up to standard Dubray books.

One of the things I really like about this place is how good it is for browsing for Christmas presents. They tend to leave out good gift ideas and often they're for a reduced price. They also have a good few author-signed books available which is a nice little extra if you can get it. Mostly this place is for the generalist rather than the specialist, but for a suburban bookshop it's pretty good.

Like the classics section in the basement, where you can track down pretty much anything. They also sell schoolbooks there....whoo! This is three stories of books and it is worth taking a slow walk through! The books are new-book prices so they are a bit expensive but just seeing the huge selection of books and the huge store is enough. I ended up getting one book as a gift for a friend and a Hodges Figgis tote bag for myself. The people working here are friendly and knowledgeable. There is always someone around if you have any questions.

Fair play to Village Books for trying to diversify Irish readers' tastes. There is a fairly large selection of cards in store, of varying qualities, but definitely something here to suit all tastes. The children's and teenagers' book sections are quite extensive and there is also a considerable selection of fantasy books. Village books has quite an array of children's toys as well, so I imagine this would provide an excellent means of distraction for kids who are dragged here by their desperate-for-a-good-read mothers. Village Books has a pleasant, unassuming atmosphere and browsing is not frowned upon.

They've got your standard travel, literature and history sections, but their real passion is gardening. If you look at history books, they've got tons on the history of, you guessed it, gardening. The thing that I really love is the little coffee bar that they've added in the back of the shop. It's a great little place to enjoy a quiet cup of coffee and a book, or you can sit in the garden if the weather is nice enough, might be waiting a while for that one!

The books on sale are many and varied, I was expecting a lot of Irish interest and books that wouldn't appeal, how wrong was I!? I asked, without much hope if there was a copy of Terry Pratchet's 'Nation' on sale, I have been looking for it for about 4 months and every time I check in Hughes & Hughes and Easons and any number of others it is sold out, not here however, there is one copy left with my name all over it (well, I wanted to make sure no one else took it!). Highly recommended on pretty much every front!
