    Southern fried chicken

Found this place through Yelp as we were way out of our area in Burlington. Turns out this is a cool town with an amazing variety of foodie choices. As usual our Yelp friends are spot on - not only did they have a HUGE selection of martinis, but they had great food - and we enjoyed it out on the deck. The most interesting event of the evening was an older couple trying to park their car on the street just off the deck - after hitting the car behind them three (3) times, my wife headed down to stop them Free entertainment is always nice! The menu has some really neat and tasty choices, and we were very happy with the service - attentive but not overbearing. Back to the food - we began with some fresh chilled oysters and a charcuterie platter - both perfect for sharing on this unusually warm spring night. We ordered a couple of bottles of white wine to go with this and were off to a great start! For my entree I really enjoyed the SZECHUAN DRAGON NOODLES - skillet seared AAA steak and fresh broccoli florets, medium szechuan "heat" with an Asian flare, over Shanghai noodles. Not too hot, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. A couple of other of our party had the steak - FILET MIGNON - Canadian beef tenderloin aged steak, with a spiced Guinness reduction, sautéed mushrooms, with smoky cheddar & lobster whipped potatoes. The boldest of our group went for the SOUTHERN FRIED CHICKEN - buttermilk and garlic marinated chicken breast, fried crisp with an Alabama inspired porcini cream sauce over our house fingerling potatoes. I liked the chicken the best, deep flavor, rich and creamy - and scheduled my bypass surgery for the next morning! Great spot for dinner and drinks! Wish it were less than 1,000 miles away from home.

Dined on patio tonight. Fabulous everything. From the staff to our comfort to the amazing martinis and food. A night to remember. I ordered the Arctic. Chat after a martini and of course wine with dinner. Absolutely a beautiful presentation of the best in food and surrounded with a medley of vegetables, fiddle heads and grapefruit. Shared dessert crepe was generous and best ever ending to perfect meal and serving. Look no further for fine dining. My first and only choice when in town. What a comeback to dining out. Kudos to the chef and our waiter. Thank you all for a lovely evening. 5 star.

The Martini House is the cutest little place !! I went here with three of my girlfriends for some drinks and apps later on at night, and we were all so pleased with the service ! We had devoured calamari, bruschetta, salads and we did not have a problem with one item. The food here is amazing but a little pricey ! I decided to try the 'White Grape Martini".... DELICIOUS !!! If you've never been , it's a cute-intimate place to go for a first date or even just with some friends

A favorite place to dine in downtown Burlington. Inventive menu always done to perfection in my experience. Highly recommended.

Fine Dining... casually!…read more When a restaurant delivers the best meals, with top shelf service in an intimate setting, you call that Michelin Star or at least recommended. When you do it effortlessly, you call that Buvette, a new standard in Casual Fine Dining. I had the most wonderful evening at Buvette in Burlington. Yes ... Burlington. Far away but worth the drive. Step in and friendly salutations are offered, along with overheard lively conversations of happy patrons that have been looking forward to a night out. It's been a long few years, and Buvette has spent their time setting up and after only opening 8 months ago, they are shaking up the dining scene. The home reimagined and constructed into Buvette is gorgeous. The passthrough fireplace, with Buvette proudly emblazoned on it, plays the center piece. The sunken sunroom dining area, the intimate bar, stairs to the second floor dining area all pass by warmth of the fire. And of course, opposite to the fireplace is the glass encased small collection of fine wines. Though Buvette is a Winebar, let's not forget their handcrafted cocktails. The owner was cheeky and named them after businesses around the historic Village Square of Downtown Burlington. From carpaccio to cauliflower bites, burrata to pastas, steaks to lobster, the names may be standard, but the food here is elevated to a whole new level. My fav? Obvisouly The Buvette Signature Share Platter! A mouthwatering board featuring steak, lobster, shrimps, lamb, and all the fixings. Whether you are here for vibes and drinks, spend some quality time with family, or a special someone, you really came to the right place. My night was amazing, however, take a gander at the menu before heading out. The place is casual but don't forget, it is Fine Dining. Bring your card made of metal... or someone you know that is!!! Downtown Burlington continues to impress me as a place for upscale living, and I think Buvette has given me another reason to perhaps make a move? Hmmm... CHEERS!!!

They even asked the sous chef to make sure the presentation was excellent; he didn't disappoint. Their menu changes seasonally. I ordered the following: 1. Coke ($). 2. Tempura Shrimp ($27). 3. Crispy Duck Leg Confit & Breast ($46). 4. Saskatoon Berry Cheesecake ($14). The Tempura Shrimp were tiger shrimp and were so plump, each about 1 inch diameter at the widest end! They were de-shelled and tempura battered. There were orange slices (orange), avocado slices (green), and chili slices (red), making the dish colourful. The Crispy Duck came with a leg and sliced breast portions. Accompanying them were tamarillo, sunchoke puree, bordelaise, dried kale chips, berry gastrique, and chopped candied pecans. All the ingredients worked well together, with mixtures of savoury and sweet tastes. The Cheesecake was amazing. The cheesecake itself was an upside-down half sphere. It was soft; I prefer that over the typical firm cake. There were miniature dried berries on top, along with a ruby chocolate sauce, and a sliced of dried red beet. Surrounding it was a soft marshmallow meringue which was lightly torched. The colour theme was red and white with a touch of dark blue. Daimon, the sous chef, plated everything expertly for me. There is plenty of indoor seating, of which one side has a view of the lake. There is lively music playing in the background. There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms. There is free street parking on weekends on a street running north of the restaurant. There is also a paid parking lot next to the restaurant. At the recommendation of the service staff, I ordered the Crab Cake Egg Benedict (lemon aïoli, boston lettuce, chive hollandaise), served for weekend brunch only. Similar to my previous meals here, the food had subtle layers of flavour that came together nicely with every bite. I tend to gravitate to food that I can't get at other restaurants. The server informed us that the meal was not served on brioche like the other Egg Benedict's, but I was still full with the side salad (yeh, no arugula). My husband ordered the side fries so his belly was full. There were two crab cakes with eggs, and plenty of crab inside. I was glad that I didn't taste fillers. Service was good and we sat at a table with a waterfront view. The Sloane tea and beverages were a pricey and small for what they were, hence one of the reasons I don't come here as frequently. Overall, I enjoy the food here.

We were seated and our coats were checked. There were 6 of us total but our server made sure we had drinks while everyone was arriving. We order drinks and then appetizers for the table. They brought out bread and olive oil which was incredible. I think we went through like 6 servings. It was SO good. Along the way, the sommelier came by to introduce herself and make some wine pairing recommendations based on our orders. For appetizers we shared the arancini (a second choice since the polenta fries weren't available), the calamari with shishito peppers, and the cheese with figs I can't remember which. All were very good! My favourite was the cheese. For my entree I had the soup of the day which was a tomato bisque with some fennel, topped with croutons, tomatoes, and cheese. They pour it table side. I loved it. I also had the spicy rigatoni pasta which the server recommended. I was choosing between that and the lasagna but my partner ordered the lasagna so I could try it. It was very good but I was happier with my pasta. For dessert they brought us tiramisu and sparklers, as we were celebrating 2 birthdays. I would go back for many reasons, but the tiramisu is at the top of the list. An exceptional meal altogether. The service was excellent, the food was delicious, and we had a wonderful time overall.

I hit OpenTable and found Sunset Bistro open for reservations, so I quickly made a morning reservation. Thankfully I checked OT because their hours on Yelp showed that they were closed! We both ordered coffee and the amazing Bistro Benedict and were not disappointed. The service was great, our server Jibran kept our coffee filled with coffee and kept bringing milk. The music was a little loud, but being only one of three tables this morning, it is likely more noticeable without the constant sound of other tables talking. I hope to come back again someday, certainly a great experience.

Their food is of elevated quality and the service is good. There are two parts of the restaurant. When you enter, there is a bar area which is just average in appearance. Then you get to the main dining area where it is nicely decorated and plenty of light entering the area. The dining area is befitting of an upscale restaurant. We ordered the following: 1. Mixed Green Salad (small $7.95, large $13.95). 2. Fish & Chips (1 pc $18.95, 2 pc $26.95). 3. Baked Pistachio Salmon ($26.95). 4. Bread Pudding and Ice Cream ($9.99). The Mixed Green Salad has tomatoes,  cucumber, matchstick carrots, sweet peppers, onion, goat cheese candied walnuts, and tossed in a lemon vinaigrette. The salad was good but needed more vinaigrette. We asked for more and they gave us a container with more, which made it perfect. Another thing: we ordered small but they misheard me and gave us large. They were nice enough to change our bill to reflect the price of a small. We ordered two pieces for the Fish & Chips. The fish is haddock, beer battered, with fries, signature tartar sauce, and cole slaw. The haddock was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. The batter was crispy but a little too thick. My mother and son didn't have the strength to cut through it. The Baked Pistachio Salmon had a pistachio crusted salmon, roasted sweet potatoes,  warm spinach, seasonal vegetables,  and drizzled maple butter. The glaze had a strange taste. I found out that they put Dijon mustard on the fish to hold the pistachios in place. I usually don't like Dijon mustard it it wasn't overly strong. The mustard should be listed in their menu I think. On the positive side, the salmon was plump, fresh, flakey, and tasty. It appears that this restaurant serves good seafood. I will have to come back to try other items. The Bread Pudding and Ice Cream was smooth and delicious. It is a custard with raisins and rum butter sauce, with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream. The custard was smooth. I hardly tasted the rum which is good because I don't like alcohol. The whipped cream was fresh and light. There are 4 parking spots nearby on Elizabeth St that are free for 20 mins until 18:00. I happened to arrive at 17:59 and was able to park for free for our entire dinner! There is free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible. There are separate male/female washrooms and they are wheelchair accessible. There are paid street parking and parking lots nearby. There are high chairs for little children. Review 2023-071
