Here's a place where the staff know what they're doing.
I've been troubled by some back issues in the last couple of years, so I decided it was time to treat myself to a few massages under the guise of remedial therapy. It couldn't hurt, right? It's basically what the physio does for some sessions I've been to, anyway... and my private health fund covers a bit, too, so why not?
I put the word out on twitter for some remedial massage recommendations from locals and a friend in the know pointed me toward the Massage Centre, so I called up and booked in. The Centre's open long hours so it was easy for me to get an appointment, though after going there a few times now I can tell you if you get your heart set on a particular masseuse then booking your appointments can get trickier. The Centre's so well staffed because there are so many different masseurs all working on different rosters!
I'm happy to recommend Atholl, who talks his way through your session but not in an awkward way... in fact, it's thanks to a few sessions with Atholl that I have a renewed appreciation for and awe of the machine that is my body. Atholl's knowledge of everything he's doing and his own appreciation for the way the body works and the way he's learnt to manipulate and work with muscles and the brain is fascinating to listen to, and I've even learnt a thing or two.
Plus, you get a jellybean at the end. read more
