Moving forward I'll probably schedule online but if it's less than 24 hours give them a call. The staff was all super nice and friendly. I arrived and was quickly taken back by my masseuse Anna. The massage room was so tranquil and smelled of roses. Ann did an amazing 60 min combo Swedish and deep tissue full body massage and worked on my super tense/knotted shoulders. I was in search of a Swedish massage, and friends recommended the Massage Garage. The space inside is minimalist and calming. My massage therapist was approachable and kindly, with a practical, sensible air that I found very reassuring. I didn't get to know her super well, because I requested "Minimal conversation" and she abided by my request, only giving me a few directions in a gentle tone of voice. For the price, I was very satisfied with my treatment and my therapist. I don't often get massages but I left Massage Garage feeling way calm, for the rest of the day. Response to business owner: I didn't go three times; I'm being confused with someone else. I even checked my emails to see if I had remembered incorrectly, but only see a receipt from the first and only visit. I didn't write a review earlier because I wanted to reflect + the surgery recovery period is 1-2 years and I'm still going through it. Receptionists should be trained properly; informing employees about coupons takes a few minutes, at most. I would prefer a refund over a $10 coupon since I wasn't treated properly. I came here last fall (Sept 4, 2024) to seek relaxation before a major surgery, but unfortunately didn't find it. I took some time before writing this to make sure I am in a stable mindset and could reflect on the experience, as I want this review to help others. Kathy worked on me, and like other reviews say, I felt like I was just being rubbed gently. As someone who is disabled due to fibromyalgia and scoliosis, I need more than a pat down. In addition, the front desk gave me a hard time and pretended not to know about the $5 coupon. I say pretend because I mentioned it at the front and the receptionist said that this coupon doesn't exist. Then I went to my car to get the physical coupon and she accepted it. What happened to the coupon not existing? Hmm... The receptionist also pressured me to give a tip even though I explained that I didn't receive a proper massage. So I have great insurance that reimburse me up to 1000 a year for massages. I fill out the reimbursement form and send it to them. However the form ask for the "provider ID" number aka business EIN that way I can be reimbursed. Of the course the clueless woman working the front desk has no idea what that is and gives me the owner's email to ask them for the info. It has been two weeks and no response to my email. Hell I even call back to the place to have the girl call her boss/owner to respond to my email so I can reimbursed and have heard nothing back. How do you not respond to customers? And now I can't reimbursed. Y'all just go somewhere else. Cause clearly the run their business like a joke. When I arrived, I mentioned I wanted to use the special and a gift certificate that had been given to me, and the woman at the front said sure and we could do the payment after. This place used to be great 10-12 years ago but not so much any more. My last experience there, I am not even sure the person was a real masseuse. They had long nails that scratched me and often I could hear them playing on their phone while massaging me. The person then asked if I could pay them instead of the front desk. I have been coming here for years, it is always a pleasant and/or therapeutic time. Are usually have a different therapist each time, because of my schedule. Last week, I enjoyed a one hour, full body massage from a gentleman named Tom. He was very calm, professional and attentive. Getting massaged means that you are in a vulnerable position and you are putting your health in someone else's hands I am delighted to report that not only did I leave feeling relaxed, but in the following days, I noticed many of my aches and pains subsiding. You are in a private room but sometime you can hear the receptionist on the phone and traffic on the street (depending which room you are in). So 1 star! I was disappointed for sure. Everyone was super nice, however, I feel like I wasted my money. Got a 60 minute massage and the lady did half of my back. Literally other side 2 minutes max while the other was 28 minutes. When she was touching my legs it was either too hard or too soft, so much that I had to ask to turn back over so she could balance my back out. We skipped the arms, it was that unbalanced. However, she failed to massage the other side...so half of my back is tense while the other is not. Then halfway through my massage, I heard her drinking something and the commercials playing off the YouTube spa music. I wish my experience with the massage was better since my dad is a loyal customer but I don't want to take another shot and waste my money again. She stated she would "give my message to her boss, stated she is hard to get a hold of, etc". To be fair, I did call in the afternoon yesterday, however, I never received a call back. So, today I called around 1:45 PM to ask to speak to the Owner again, letting them know that my friend came by WITH the gift certificate, thinking he could get cash in lieu of his gift. NOPE. I was told "the Owner does not have cash on premises and is busy with her son, putting him to bed." I was told "she will call later today." It is currently past 6:00 PM right now and I had to make another follow up call to talk to the Owner. I had to be proactive and ask the worker to "please call the Owner because I did not get a call back" and she stated "she is putting her son to bed and will call later". When I asked how late, there was no definite time frame. The only thing I can do now is wait. I told these people that it is really sad to be treated with such bad customer service like this and it makes me NOT want to return to get massage services from here, thanks to this 1 simple refund request. Yes it is awkward, but I tried to do something nice for a friend who needs money more than a massage, and I thought that these people would be understanding especially with the holiday season, but they have just been flat out mean. I don't like that energy and I actually will not be returning here again, no matter how the reviews are, because the service is just below standard for me. I spend a lot and treat people well, but when I see that a business makes excuses (here they said "she is interviewing", "she doesn't keep cash on hand", "she has to put her son to bed", etc), it is reflective of their lack of service, which I think is UNCOOL. My co-workers told me about a place called "Massage Garage" with crazy cheap rates and I was thinking yea right sounds ghetto, but my lady and I decided to give it a shot and results wise we were blown away. We both stumbled out of our rooms with a look on our face that said "Holy shit that was unexpected." I guess you can be cheap, convenient, AND high quality... if you operate right. I've had massages at other joints far worse than this one at double or even triple that price. Massage Garage figured out it's about the talent of the people, not how fancy the building is, how many Buddha statues are out and about, or how many waterfall fountains you have. This place has a modest look and feel, but very high quality massage therapists when it gets down to it. That's the key. Somewhere in the middle of the Native American flute music I completely passed the fuck out, she was hitting all the right places on my neck and back. Only damper on the ambiance was the receptionist, she pretty much dissolves any semblance of a relaxing atmosphere. I waited in the lobby about 5 minutes before and after the massage and the entire time the receptionist was on the phone with a girlfriend of hers gossiping with ridiculous volume. I'm trying to chill, stop yelling about so and so's date or what you think she should have said to tell a guy off. It's unprofessional and I wouldn't even want to hear that much blabbing from a bartender let alone an employee of a supposedly relaxing establishment. Just shut it.
