Our whole family is very into steak, mom in particular. So on our trip to Sydney, she of course insisted what we try Australian Wagyu. After some quick looking around, we decided on Meat & Wine Co, since their lunch deal seemed bangin'. The lunch deal includes a wine/beer/soda, and the choices of appetizer, entree, and dessert--all for $49. Sounds amazing, right? Well, it turned out to be a little bit too good to be true. I made a reservation for our party of 4 ahead of time, for Queen's Day, and signed each of us up for the lunch deal through their online platform. They informed us that there would be a $5 per person surcharge, which they do on Sundays and Holidays. Mildly annoying, but a nominal amount, so no big. When we arrived, the server informed us that they would not be offering the lunch special because it was a holiday. I explained that the reservation allowed us to select the lunch deal and after going to check with management, our server complied. 3 of our 4 went with the house red, with the fourth electing the house white. As someone who drinks a solid amount of red wine and isn't really all that picky about them, this was... not great. My aunt also did not care for her white wine. For the app, I had the beetroot and labne. I didn't realize that the beets would be pickled; they were a bit strong, but paired with the labne and rocket were pretty good. It was just a little bit stronger of a flavor that I was expecting for an appetizer. My sister and mom had the wagyu tartare, which they both said was very good but incredibly rich. It was a ton of tartare for their first course, they both agreed. My aunt had the calamari, which she said was decent as well. For our entrees, 3 of us had the wagyu rump and one had the steak sandwich--all with salad on the side. My wagyu was cooked closer to medium well than the medium I requested, but the glaze that they used on it was fantastic. My mom and aunt both said as well that their steak wasn't quite as tender as expected, but they both liked the glaze too. My sister's steak sandwich was also very good. The salads initially looked a little sad, with just lettuce and some radishes, but the vinaigrette used on it was superb. We all had the creme brûlée for dessert, which was pretty good but nothing really to write home about. To be fair, I feel like it's kind of hard to blow someone away with a creme brûlée. Service was okay and the food was decent; I'd have been annoyed though had we paid normal a la carte prices for what we got. Nothing that we had was outright bad, but I don't know that I'd necessarily recommend this as a must-visit restaurant in Sydney.

Great Christmas team lunch, amazing Wagu steak cooked to perfection with an amazing side of mash. The only downfall was the wait staff forgot my salad and I had to wait nearly 10 mins for it to come out. Great ambience and rest of service were good, staff friendly, with nice ambience. A must visit if in Barangaroo. Make sure you book. Good photo ops and of course grab a pic of that steak.

This is a very hip restaurant that was packed when we went, but we didn't have any trouble getting reservations day of. I loved the decor. The food and drinks were very good. I'd say that the service was fine, but not amazing. They do a really cool celebration for birthdays that we saw a few times throughout the evening. One thing that frustrated me was that we were given the option of still or sparkling water and we said still thinking it would be tap. They ended up bringing a bottle and charged us $9 without mentioning anything. We complained and the waiter took it off, but that was a little shady. At least be upfront about it.

Love this new flagship location in Barangaroo (new development in the Sydney waterfront area). Gorgeous modern space with all glass windows and lots of natural sunlight coming through. *Hint: book your dinner around sunset time. My family and I were visiting from the US. As first-time visitors, they wanted to try kangaroo meat and obviously steak from Oz. After some research, I brought them here for dinner, and they raved about the food! Yes, I have found *THE* place to go in Sydney for Aussie steak and 'roo meat! Recommend ordering: 1. wagyu ribeye steaks (with gorgeous grill marks) 2. beef ribs (so flavorful and juicy) 3. kangaroo loin skewer (so tender and not gamey at all), served with crispy onion strings -1 star for subpar and inattentive service... and I already lowered my high American standards too.

Marvelous atmosphere and decor. Chic and classy. Knowledgeable wait staff. Delicious food. Awesome desserts. One of the best meat restaurants in Sydney, I'm told. Who can complain about good meat and wine, right? Awesome location, no less.

Smaller helpings for the first course ( entree in Australia) and the main course was quite large.

Sydney had lost one of her raddest venues and a place renowned for putting on ace performances, plays, sales, exhibitions and just about anything else you can think of. It was making way for a bakery. Now, I'm all for baked goods, but Sydney can't afford to lose little gems like this that add something irreplaceable to the fabric of this damned fine city. Huzzah, then, that District 01 has risen - phoenix-like! - from the ashes of corporate suckitude and is reincarnated in Randle Lane, a small, clean alleyway near Central Station and the place is cooler than ever. HUZZAH I SAY. I attended the relaunch party last night and while there were canapes and live tunes and drinks what I really got excited about was the venue: a white-walled space ready to be transformed into whatever, whenever. A blank canvas waiting for imagination to recreate it into anything the user desires. Light globes hang low from the ceiling. Entry is up the stairs of a repurposed loading dock. And . . . there's just something about partying in a secret alleyway that makes me feel cooler than I probably (er, actually) am.

Down a little alleyway off a quiet street, there's a set of door with a sign on them that reads "District 01". Inside is a converted warehouse with white floors, walls and ceiling and a few stacks of white pallets. I was here for a Yelp event so the projector was beaming District 01 offers with intermittent Yelp logos. The night was fairly warm and humid but the venue remained cool enough even though it was packed with people. This is defo worth keeping in mind if you're an event coordinator/PR/marketing peep looking for cool, new venues for events.

I stood in line for the kiosk to purchase a ticket, but the folks in front of me had some difficulties with it and so an attendant came to help guide them through the process. Apparently I look old and confused because when it was my turn he just ask me how many and type of visit and before I knew it he handed me a senior discount ticket. Wasn't sure if I should be glad or insulted. I made my way up to the top on a rickety small elevator and arrived safely.. had my doubts there for a minute. Once you step out of the elevator the world opens up again. The view is spectacular and you can walk around the entire perimeter and view 360 degrees of Sydney. And may I say the city is huge. I delighted in seeing an actual working mailbox there which is marked the highest mailbox in Sydney, well yeah... Of course I bought the picture package, because who doesn't need silly commemorative pictures of oneself with Koalas, in a kangaroo pouch or atop of a map of Australia. Also I must say that the gift shop here was able to fill all my souvenir needs easily. It is extensive and reasonably priced too.

The interactive touch screens were confusing and not very helpful, and the binocular viewers were basically useless. The biggest issue, though, was the dirty windows, and tons of lights in the background which made it difficult to take any decent photos. You can barely see the Harbour Bridge or Opera House as they are obstructed. After doing the Sydney BridgeClimb, this experience felt like a complete waste of money in comparison. There were tables available to sit at, but both staff and guests seemed unwilling to clean them, which added to the overall lackluster experience.
