On Sunday, I was in Transcona after I had landed at the airport. I was in the area for lunch. Afterwards, I needed to get some drinks and food. I did a search for a drugstore and got this Rexall. It was straightforward finding it. There was lots of parking. I pulled into a parking spot and walked in. Purses and scarves greeted me. I got to the beauty section. I noticed a female security guard. I didn't think that this area needed one. I saw a female customer standing at the Canada Post counter. Another female shopper and I looked at the hours of operation. It closed at 4 pm on Sundays. It was closer to 4:30 pm, so we let the woman know that she should come back tomorrow. It's the kind of gesture that I have missed being away from Winnipeg. Everyone helps everyone. It's nice. I found the pop section. I didn't see the sale price that should have been on the six-pack bottles of Coke and Pepsi products. I decided to get a case of twelve cans of pop instead. Well, on the other side of the freezers, there were more six-pack bottles and I saw the sale price that I had expected. I wish that this price was posted in both areas. I put away the case and got two six-pack bottles of Diet Coke. I also got a box of M&M Food Market cabbage rolls from the freezer that were $6 off. I also got a bottle of water for my travel humidifer. I got to the checkout. I got Tammy, who was terrific. She let me know that I could redeem $20 towards my purchase. I said yes. I paid $2 for my items. Sweet! I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was good. She asked me if I needed a bag. I was fine hauling my four items to my rental vehicle. I thanked her and left with my goods. I put away my items when I got to my vehicle. I brought an insulated bag, so the cabbage rolls went in there. My other reusable bag was perfect for my bottled water. I liked shopping here. I'd return again when I'm in Transcona. (281)

I was happy to see this store at Collection Outlet Winnipeg earlier this month. I went in to browse. There were two female staffers in the store that talked the entire time that I was there. There was an older woman with a British accent providing advice to a younger woman who seemed to have an Arabic accent. I have always been a fan of small appliances. This store has many. There was a small rice cooker that was adorable. I saw escargot bakeware. I got into making escargot several months ago, but don't have an escargot plate with the divets. I didn't get one. I have been using cupcake cups instead. The cocktail shaker sets caught my attention. I'd like one. The store had a sale on them. I ended up getting a travel looseleaf tea stick to steep my tea. It looked easy to clean and simple to take anywhere. I still love looking at ice moulds. This one had small cubes that you freeze and then push out of the mould into its own tray. Cool! When I was ready to pay for my item, the two female staffers stopped talking. I'm not sure if I should have been glad or sad that I had ended it. The British woman cashed me out. It was across the street from where I lived. This drugstore used to be smaller, with Vi-Ann Restaurant and Movie Village sharing the same building. Sadly, both ended up closing so that SDM could expand. Movie Village permanently closed, likely because renting movies died. Vi-Ann found a new home on Notre Dame Avenue. I got to dine there on this trip and the food was still outstanding. This SDM has two entrances. There's one that faces Osborne Street. I only used it when I was walking along that street, likely after taking the bus home. I used the back entrance more, mainly because it was closer to get to from my apartment and there's parking. Earlier this month, I drove over to this store and backed into a spot. I forgot that it has a set of photos and historic details on the building as you make your way to the back entrance. I appreciated looking at the Osborne Street Bridge being built, which is a bridge that I often walked across to and from downtown Winnipeg. There was a security guard in this store. I don't remember seeing one while I lived in Winnipeg, but it was kind of comforting. This guard didn't follow anyone around, which was nice. I used to get prescriptions at the pharmacy. It was cool seeing it again. I remember getting a refill. I called and my prescription was ready for pickup within a couple of hours. This store has a post office. I didn't need to pick up any packages here because my apartment building was good holding them. However, if I needed to get stamps or mail a package, it was convenient coming here. I came here to get some cold drinks after spending a few hours taking a train between Rosser and Grosse Isle, just north of Winnipeg. I ended up getting a couple of cans of AriZona iced tea. I also got some Lacteeze. I'm borderline lactose-intolerant. It was weird seeing it in a blue box. The packaging was different that the white tall box with a bottle that I'm used to in Markham. I saw glassware that you can get when you collect stamps through PC Optimum purchases. In the greater Toronto area, I had a tough time finding a box of stemware to redeem these stamps. This store had sets for white and red wines. I had thought about grabbing a box and bringing it back. I'd have to carry it onto the plane. I decided not to, in case I dropped the box and the stemware shattered. Self-checkout kiosks weren't a thing when I was last in this store. I went ahead and used one. It was straightforward scanning my items and PC Optimum barcode on my phone. I then paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I grabbed my items and headed to my vehicle. The AriZona green tea was cold and refreshing. It was nice returning after all these years. Although I'm sad that this SDM took down two good businesses to expand, I am glad that it endures, as does Safeway next door. (258)

So anyways this is the problem, one night I was at Wal-Mart on Taylor and was tired and kind of shuffling my feet while walking and I passed by her and her family she was with and she said rather loudly "UGH". As we all know this refers to "caveman" anyways fast forward a couple months later and I am walking in to the Shoppers where she works and she is walking with another employee, she turns to look at me turns away and says something to her fellow employee and they both giggle. Being a frequent customer at that store I don't appreciate it when people are RACIST towards me and I will be elevating this to the owner and showing him some footage i have gathered as I always wear a body cam. 2024 is NOT a year to be openly racist in a small city if you do not wish to be shamed for it...smarten up!

It occupies the former Sears store's bedding and bed department. It was my first time visiting a Uniqlo store that wasn't in the greater Toronto area. I will say that I liked the local designers who created a Winnie the Pooh and Piglet t-shirt, to honour this city, and a hockey t-shirt. I wanted to get these t-shirts. The price point made me think twice about it. As much as I want to support local, paying $40 a t-shirt felt like a lot of money to shell out. I only own a t-shirt, underwear, and a lightweight puffy coat from Uniqlo. I am a fairly new customer. I do love what I own. The pieces are comfortable. I also bought these pieces when they were on sale and I had a coupon through signing up for the company's mailing list. I liked the moon-shaped crossbody bags. They look comfortable, lightweight, and practical. I saw a pair of lightweight denim shorts that looked comfortable. I will see if they ever go on sale. The same goes with their linen pants and tops. It was nice perusing this store. It was great seeing the space that Sears once occupied has this Uniqlo doing steady business here. (284)

I liked the neck fan and fans that hold a block of ice. What caught my attention was a Squishmallows crochet kit. I could knit a frog and stuff it. I decided to get it. The woman at the checkout counter was friendly and great. She asked for my phone number associated with my Showcase Insider account. She found me and let me know that I had $5 off this purchase. Yay! I paid with a credit card. I tapped and was done. I placed this kit in my paper bag with handles. I thanked her and left. I have started watching the video on how to crochet this frog.
