why is it so hard for fast food/or otherwise restaurants to serve hot food to customers?? this location (UTC area of SD) was busy, as it was sat. night. we waited about 15-20 min. for our food. the parmesan fries were lukewarm (but tasty). my burger was lukewarm. when i ordered it, i asked for med. well, as the restaurant usually makes it med. rare. my wife's soup was barely warm, not hot. we sent everything back and the fries came back warm, but not hot. don't they simply serve them from the fryer? i guess anyone can rate themselves a 10/10, but yelp's ratings for this location were a mild 4.2/5. get a hint, melt. my burger was warm, not hot. they offered to refund our money, but we still needed something to eat. again, i ask the question: why is it so hard for fast food/or otherwise restaurants to serve hot food to customers?? read more

I decided to try this place as I had heard and read so many good things about it. The medium rare burger didn't disappoint wrapped in gooey cheese goodness. Service was friendly, informative and responsive. The garlic cheese fries are a great compliment to the burger. The strawberry lemonade was almost a hit but that's the only snag I hit. They're premade with ice in them. However when they sit for so long, the ice waters them down and the strawberry get waterlogged. Yuck. Suggestion: premake them with no ice and sit them instead in an ice bucket. That way the strawberries stay firmer longer and the drink isn't watered down. If customers need more ice they can get it in a fresh drink. Also trying to put ice in an already waterlogged drink is messy. I would also make the lettuce pickles onions standard instead of making your customer choose it. It's pretty standard in most hamburger places. Since it was my first time there, I didn't know it didn't come with it until after I sat down, ate the burger and then looked up at the menu. It would have made the burger better. Other than that the experience was good. The bathroom was clean even late at night. read more

Parking lot shared with lots of other business so a bit tough to find parking. There was plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Staff was friendly, took order quickly and food came out quickly. The have a giant screen for the 3rd party orders which was cool. Ordered: Patty melt - mustard was a little heavy, could have used a spicy Mayo and would have had better flavor. It did say pink middle I believe on the board but it was mid-rare which was a touch too pink for me. Needed something else in it flavor wise. Bbq burger - just okay Ranch cheese fries - the fries are good, lots of flavor, not really a fan of the cheese as it reminded me of cheese wiz. Bacon was good. Sauce was a bit lukewarm compared to the burgers temp. About $30 for the items above which is pretty pricey. Not sure if I would be back and it was overall just okay. read more

My daughter and I stopped by The Melt for some grilled cheese sandwiches. We both got the Queso de Mayo that consisted of avocados, smoked bacon, jalapeños, and pepper Jack cheese on sour dough bread. One of the better grilled cheese sandwiches I've had! Definitely hit the spot! What we should have done was order 2 different sandwiches so we could share. $9.29 each We also got some fresh squeezed lemonade for $3.29. It was just the right amount of tartness and sweetness. Customer service was average, but the grilled cheese was above average. As a result, I awarded a 4-star rating. read more

Tucked into the back corner of the food court, it's not the most noticeable of offerings, but I saw the sign and decided to give it a try. I ordered the OG 1/2 lb double smash burger. It looked delicious, and exactly what I'd expect... two smashed patties, some grilled onions and melted cheese between two buns. Done. Should have been a home run right there. I ordered at the kiosk; burger and fries. I saw the cook at the grill top make -- what turned out to be -- my burger instantly, and then place it into a bag. Then, I stood around for over 10 minutes before someone else came out, and put the fries in the bag too. Then, it was another few minutes before that guy decided to call out the order number. It's not like it was busy.. in the whole time I stood there, one other customer placed an order at the kiosk. So in the end, I enjoyed relatively fresh and hot fries (which were actually really good), but a lukewarm and somewhat dry burger. So it's hard to tell if the burger really lacked flavor, or if it had just dried out from sitting around for 15 minutes before being eaten. All-in-all, I think the potential was there for me to probably give it another try at some point. But, definitely not the experience I was hoping for.

I went to the front counter to order and the owner was very kind. He took my order and indicated that my drink and fries were included, this is nice! My food was ready after about 7minutes. I did a to go order. The burger was great and the fries were good too. This is impressive for a take out burger in this area. I will return to try the good Mediterranean food options, as that is my passion. Stay tuned on my next visit.

I was overcast on occasion and I remember the burgers coming out so hot and freshly cooked. The steam was literally rising out of the plate, even outside. The burgers were delicious and super cheesy. I mean cheese melting off the patty but still so much on it for maximum flavor. Fries were also very good. Burgers are decent size so it makes for a satisfying lunch. I like that they have safe, clean outdoor seating too. It is in the courtyard of the UTC so there are places to sit and take care of shopping while out. Parking is plentiful and free for a short time. The staff here was friendly every time I had visited.

The place is spacious and there is lots of seating inside and out. The service is very pleasant, and as others have said, the salsa bar is great. There are more things I want to try...I am limiting myself to every other day... They also have like six kinds of cheesecake in a dessert case and beautiful cookies but I never have room for dessert.
