I came to The Merchant today with my Mom. It was my second experience there and I absolutely want to RAVE about this place. The staff is very friendly and while the inside seating is quaint and cozy, there is an abundant amount of space outside with covered picnic tables. Their food and coffee exhibits quality of ingredients. In addition, they have an adorable trolley outside that has a more expansive food list. I even learned today that they have fun events such as chili or reggae nights on the second Friday of every month (which I will 100% be attending for now on). While we are all surrounded by coffee and food chains, The Merchant is a prime example of why it is so imperative to give our independently owned and operated businesses service instead of to larger conglomerates. read more

Great woman owned coffee shop halfway between Orange County and Santa Monica which makes for a perfect meeting spot Arrived at 10 am on a Saturday morning to a line. I came here for the first time recently, and I was so pleasantly surprised with every aspect of this place. Though the shop is small, it is cozy and there is outside seating for people to enjoy and have their coffee and food. The staff were all sweet and kind too! I was able to try an oat milk latte, and breakfast sandwich that is made with their delicious biscuits and it was phenomenal. i'm so glad I was able to stop by here. Super cute small bakery in the Bixby Knolls neighborhood of Long Beach! We had been recommended this place by a friend and it did not disappoint. I got a blueberry muffin and the Cubano inspired croissant and they were both delish. I also got the iced horchata coffee and it was also super good but it's not very sweet so if that's your vibe then definitely give it a try. The staff is super friendly and we moved through the line quickly. Parking is a little tough in that neighborhood so just prepare to walk a little. I love the Ambiance of this place coming in. It has sitting inside and outside. I love sitting inside by the window. When I thin of cute coffee shop, this is what I picture in my head. Parking is a bit of a pain at times though. Especially if they do get busy. Once you get in line it's near the pastries and breakfast items someone takes your order. Then you move to another spot to pay. This I find a bit weird, because once you give your order and get to the cashier more often than not it takes awhile for someone to take your payments. Sometimes once they hand you your food or sometimes when you've got everything. My little dilemma is that I can't just go to my seat after I order and pay. I have to get in another line wait for someone to come help me so I can pay. I'm trying to understand the point in this. But I don't. Oh well. Every person that takes my order is super friendly and energetic which I love. Especially since it's the AM. The cashiers usually seem more mellow I guess. lol. I tried their banana pancake bread like thing with chocolate chip. One of my faves and I've had the empanadas and breakfast sandwich. Both really good. This is a great neighborhood coffee shop in the Bixby Knolls/North Long Beach area. Good service, great atmosphere, comfortable indoor and outdoor seating. The coffee is always great and there is a large selection of baked goods. For me though, being dairy free, there is only ever one option: the zucchini muffins (which are delicious by the way! But tend to run out after noon). It can get a little hectic during rush hours while people are standing around waiting for their coffee because the space inside is pretty small, but it's not a big deal. I tried the Vanilla honey oat iced latte which was good but not my favorite. It was quite strong & I felt I was missing a little more vanilla or honey but of course I'm sure you could customize it by adding extra! The iced caramel latte with cold foam here is really good. It doesn't have an artificial taste, isn't overly sweet, and is just slightly creamy from the cold foam. I also like that they use nugget ice here. My only issue is the price.
