We've passed by this shop over a few dozen times over the years & decided to give it a go. The items are handmade from the Koa tree that is found in Hawaii. There are pens, jewelry, bags/purses, wallets, key chains, cutlery, ornaments, vases, kitchen items & other curious artwork displayed for sale. Candace was manning the shop & she was so friendly & welcoming. She even suggested a lady who might be able to create what we're looking for. This lady works from home & has a website (Tropical Isle Music). I love to support local businesses & Candace was so charming, I bought a couple of Aloha Hula girl ornaments & a pineapple (see photo) ornament. There's a few spaces for parking that it shares with Mankoa & a granola shack. It was lovely speaking with Candace, who I learned is actually half Filipino & half Japanese, born & raised in Kaua'i. Her grandfather was one of the first Filipinos who arrived from the Philippines to work in the plantations in Hawaii. It's always interesting to learn about people & their heritage. I swear, this store used to be like a Ben Franklin store over 20 years ago, but I can clearly see it's now a hardware/craft store. I basically came in here to buy some batteries for a combo lock I was working on, as the safe combo lock needed some new batteries. I was in a rush as I was pressed for time, and I had asked my customer on - "where was the closest store" from this bank I was working at? My customer told me that there was an Ace Hardware/ Craft store just down the street from where I was working....... cool! Drove down the street & popped into the store. It was kinda overwhelming when I walked into the store, as this store was big and carried a lot of items. While looking through the isles, looking for the batteries, I guess a clerk (working on the floor) noticed that I needed some help. He walked up to me and offered his assistance, I in turn told him what I came in here for. He quickly led me to the spot where they had this large battery display.......all the batteries I needed. What great customer service I tell you! Grabbed all the batteries I needed, & made a beeline to the checkout stand. Paid for my stuff, and headed straight out the door lickity-split! What a great shopping experience! I think the next time I have more time, I'll stop by here again to check out their tool selection.

I've noticed that a particular Reebok dry fit shirt seems to sell for $9.99 for any size, and have learned that it's great to take on trips (easy to hand wash, easy to rinse, quick drying). So noticed that they sold them here too and bought one. Also saw that a comparable Hurley shirt was around the same price, so got one of them too. Both will go into my trip clothing rotation. What's funny is that because the sales tax here is quite a bit lower than where we live (4.5% vs 10.5%), meant it was cheaper to buy it here than in Long Beach. And because of its proximity to the cruise port, there was a lot of new luggage on sale, with a lot of variety.

Inventory at Ross can sometimes be hit or miss, but this location definitely met expectations. I enjoyed browsing for cost-effective items to bring home. I successfully found a great handful of cute dresses/outfits (especially from the clearance rack), a couple of bottles of perfume, and shoes. A couple of areas were slightly disorganized, with merchandise on the floor, and the store was fairly busy with a bit of a wait. The staff members were friendly and helpful while working to ensure quick efficiency with the movement of the line. Overall, this Ross is worth stopping by for wonderfully affordable finds while in Līhuʻe.
