Every single one of the girls in the restaurant were snobby, rude, and annoyed when asked to help with the smallest things. Other customers around us tried to get their attention only to be ignored with a brisk walk away by these girls. The restaurant is also more of a cramped hallway than a restaurant. This truly is an unique cafe. It was recommended to me and I am definitely not disappointed. The cafe interiors are very quirky and cute, they have added some Halloween decorations as well for the Halloween month. They have both food and drinks. I just ordered walnut loaf, almond joy latte and raspberry tea. All were good! The staff is super nice and friendly as well. They have good amount of seating and free WiFi if you want to go work. We were greeted upon entering, where you order at the counter. At first it seems like a very small cafe, but once you pass the register there's a whole separate area of beautifully designed seating. We ordered an iced lavender latte and an iced pumpkin s'mores latte, both with oat milk, and both incredible! To eat we went halvsies on the "better than..." and the modern egg pizza. I'm so glad we did, because I wouldn't have wanted to choose between these two insane menu items. The better than was a croissant that came with Brie, blueberries, basil and honey. The modern egg pizza was naan bread with mozzarella, Muenster, fried eggs, basil, pesto, tomato, balsamic, and prosciutto (which we asked them to please remove). The two pastries we ordered, the banana coconut bread and strawberry chia seed muffin, were delicious as well. Can't say enough great things about this place! I don't usually go to cafés to get work done. The problem was I was itching to go out and I couldn't get The Modern Rose out of my mind. Sometime last year Yelp had an event there, but I don't remember why I didn't sign up. I think I was in the insanity of moving. At any rate, I found myself coveting all the beautifully-presented food Yelpers posted, so much so that I was looking for an excuse to go. Back in March, I thought I had finally found a valid reason. It was my cousin's birthday, and as she lives in Palm Beach County, I thought meeting up at this café made all the sense in the world as it's halfway between us more or less. I even called that week and spoke to a gentleman on the phone to find out about reservations and seating and the best time to come. Well, all that ended in baloney, as my cousin canceled on me. Enter last Sunday. I had done my typical kickboxing workout, had gone home and showered, and just kept staring at my laptop, knowing I had things to do and that I also didn't feel like cooking. Not that the latter is a rare occurrence for me, especially on a weekend. Consequently I bit the bullet and said that that day was the day and so onwards and forwards to The Modern Rose. The drive there was around 40 minutes. A bit out of my usual driving range I have to say. I would even admit to you that I got antsy in the parking lot. It was packed and chaotic and making me hate life. Fortunately for me I stuck it through and entered the oasis that is this café because it truly is. It reminds me of a haven that the Easter Bunny would go to relax. Lots of pastels. Lots of light. A small space full of warmth. A place where you order at the counter, they bring your order to you, and you are essentially left in peace. And well, that entire description was me in a nutshell. I felt like I could breathe and did I mention I was beyond productive? Their Wi-Fi is strong and their customer service superb. I had trouble at first getting on it, but one of the employees graciously helped me. Ditto when I was at the counter ordering. I had some ideas on what to purchase but nothing set. Settled on a dirty vanilla chai, one of their signature drinks, and it was made piping hot and with 2% milk as requested. In terms of food, I hadn't eaten yet that day, so I knew a full order of avocado toast was in my future. I just didn't know which version. I was between the regular avocado toast with the tomatoes and their wilder sibling, the some like it spicy version. I chose the some like it spicy version based on my conversation with the cashier and it didn't disappoint. Hearty, full of corn and cotija, this was an absolute godsend to my Chicano self. As for dessert, because who knows when I will go again, I went for their strawberry cheesecake macaron. I'm not usually a fan of these, but lately I've been finding myself more open to them. Have to say that here it was worthwhile as it was fresh and didn't taste artificial. This macaron may have converted me into a macaron lover. Clearly then, wedding bells are ringing for me. That's the love I have for this café. Yes, it's far away from me, and yes, it's a tad more expensive than I'd like, but I think it's just marvelous. It makes me just feel that everything's meant to be. I will definitely make that drive again sooner rather than later. There are still so many things to try and flavors to explore. read more

I can't believe it took me so long to try this spot. I can't speak highly enough about the customer service here. The entire staff is so friendly, it's a breath of fresh air. It's very nice to see both owners and the owners wife working ... it really ensures the experience is 100% positive. They're awesome and you can tell they love what they do and fully believe in their product and the sentiment trickles down to the rest of the staff. I tried- Egg sandwich (Mexican style) - This is a hybrid between their modern egg sandwich (Two fried eggs on grilled Tuscan loaf with olive oil, herbs d' provence, tomatoes, pesto a la genovese, cheddar cheese, muenster cheese and crispy cheese) and some like it spicy toast (Avocado, roasted corn, cotija cheese, chili pepper, mexican cream). Probably the best breakfast sandwich I've tried. All of the ingredients taste so fresh and it's bursting with flavor. You'd think the pesto mixed with the Mexican style would be weird but it tastes so good together. 5/5 ($13.75) I also had their empanadas (sweet potato/curried spinach and pork/pineapple) which were good but a bit pricey. I'm not big on coffee but their lavender latte is top tier. Who knew flowers and coffee would taste so good together? 5/5 across the board. I have been getting emails from A Modern Rose for a while. I came in to check it out. The small restaurant has two areas front room and a back room with a restroom in each area. The small restaurant has lots of pretty antiques on shelves throughout. There was a consistent traffic of customers and yet it never felt crowded. The restaurant is located in the cove shoppes near the inter coastal waterway - therefore it is on the way to or from the beach. Friendly wait staff that checked back to see if I enjoyed. Atmosphere was very cute and eclectic. The staff was very friendly and attentive however it's very busy here so food does take time to get out of the kitchen. Not much in terms of space, either, with how popular this place is. Because it was so busy it did take the food a while to get to us. When it did the bread was stale which made it difficult to eat. In terms of flavor it was good. Portion sizes were also very generous. The coffee came out quick. I ordered the blue eyes latte (blueberry coffee) and it had a lot of blueberry flavoring in it, which was a bit overwhelming. I did finish it though because I am a fan of blueberries. The cinnamon mocha latte was delicious! Overall an okay experience. Would like to visit again (at a less busy time)! There's definitely potential here. read more

Delicious coffee (I got the vanilla dirty chai), delicious food (garden soup and French cheese bruschetta) and strong WiFi all make for the perfect combination in my work from a coffee shop checklist. The service was also really great. The ladies working here were friendly and so were the other patrons in the shop. Although I opted to work here today, it would be a great spot to catch up with a friend or get some studying done. I placed the order inside, paid upfront and they bring you the food. The cappuccino was good and also served in a nice sized mug. For breakfast I had the Blooming Breakfast which is a Tuscan bread with fresh strawberries, blueberries and fruit spread. It comes with two eggs any style I chose sunny side up. The odd thing I have never seen eggs in such a perfect circle they either use a metal form when cooking or they actually came frozen. I guess the later as the yolk did not run. Also had herbs on top it was a little much for me and I passed. Believe me I didn't leave starving as the one piece of Tuscan bread was plenty. My family loved my choice in fact enjoyed catching up and chatting. This place is lovely and laid back. In fact the dress code was casual just the way I like it. Definitely will come back here again. When I got here around 12 pm on a Wednesday, they were packed! That alone can speak to how cute and yummy this little spot is. You can have a "tea party" in the tea room in the back, hang out in the sun outside, or enjoy a work date in the main room. We had come here before for a Yelp elite event. And we'd really enjoyed what we had and the overall experience. Would the venue live up to our expectations once again? Yes!! In fact, I ordered the same items I had had before -- my iced pear tea (caffeine free) and their modern avocado toast. The tea is so aromatic -- fragrant and refreshing. The avocado toast perfect with all its "everything" seasoning and tomatoes on crunchy bread. I don't even mind picking out the sesame seeds from my teeth (sorry for the TMI but...). My cousin got the toasted banana coconut bread with Biscoff cookie butter and bruleed bananas with 2 eggs. She was in heaven. I've heard so many good things about The Modern Rose and I've been wanting to stop in for a few weeks now and I'm so glad I did. It's such a charming little place with a cute bohemian vibe. They offer unique teas, coffee, and a healthy menu with vegan options. It's in the cove shopping center just a few doors down from Casa Maya. There are a couple of tables on the outside or you can go inside were there are couches and tables.. They just expanded and opened a nice relaxing sitting area in the back. The decor is adorable. The walls are covered in mis- matched pieces of art and the antique furniture is lovely. Someone took some time searching for all the right furnishings. Free strong WIFI is available and this is just a nice place to grab a coffee or a tea, read a book, do some work, or play on your phone. Iced Coffee was fresh and excellent.
