Despite the cold weather, no effort was made to change him into dry clothes. When I asked the teacher (Florel) about it, she showed no empathy or concern. A daycare should provide a safe and nurturing environment for children but this experience has made me question the quality of care here. My daughter attended PAVCS for several years. At first, I thought they were just disorganized. But…read morebeing a certified teacher myself, I gradually realized that this was just a money making venture and the teachers, while well meaning, were not well trained and did not hold the students accountable. For example, my daughter made straight As at PAVCS, but when she transitioned to a public high school she really struggled and we realized that the "excellent"education that we thought we were getting was in reality mediocre. Also beware that did not take seriously the PA Mandate to screen all 7th graders for sciolosis. My daughter, along with nine other students were skipped because of poor management and a lackadaisical approach to a serious issue. Unfortunately, that "malpractice" meant that my daughter wound up in a full body brace for the entire length of her high school years. Had it been picked up in the required screening, we could have treated her earlier and the results would not have been so heartbreaking. Overall, I think cyber schools may be ok for some extremely dedicated, self disciplined parents and students but this cyber school is short on accountability and excellence. It is a money making venture for some well connected people at the top and cuts corners without much oversight.

I met with Dawn and she was very informative and gave us a wonderful tour. My daughter was there as well and she just blended right in! She was super comfortable with all the teachers. The favorite thing I loved learning about the preschool was that it has been around for over 40 years and all of their teachers have been there over 5, 10, 15, 20 years. Their church has been around for 275 years! We are definitely considering coming here next year!

He struggles with fine motor skills and his teacher takes the time to create special homework assignments for him that will help increase his abilities. I am enrolling my 2 year old in the fall. The office staff are extremely friendly, supportive and understanding. The only drawback for working parents is pickup is by 530 and typically there are fewer than 4 students remaining at this time. I don't mind it because I like the attention my son receives, but my husband would prefer more kids to play with for him at the end of the day. Prices are the best in the area for what you get. Definitely send your kids! Best preschool experience!

The curriculum and resources are wonderful, and the space (particularly the renovated rooms) beautiful. They offer flexible schedules with many different options for working parents or those that just want their child to benefit from the Montessori mornings. We really appreciate the fact that they foster, teach, practice, and celebrate diversity. One of our favorite events was the school's International Dinner. The outdoor space is great, and they have art, tumble tots, and music programs weekly, special events for the kids throughout the year (such as animal visits, ballet shows, music performances), in addition to the Montessori program and the after-care options (which features a lot of creative play, cooking, and play spaces that are updated with new themes monthly). I strongly believe that any childcare setting should make you feel happy whenever you walk in- and that is the case for us. I love walking in to Bala House. To be honest, I was actually very worried and unsure about starting my daughter in a Montessori school. I had never had this experience and from the outside the teaching model seemed a little cold and isolating. Also, my daughter has a ton of energy and I was worried she'd be too wild to sit nicely on a little mat "doing her work." And I was worried about the class size- 24 kids seemed like a lot. But, I was surprised to find that despite being on the young end, she sits and focuses on her projects. She seems to enjoy the opportunity to choose activities for herself, and she gets tons of interactions with other kids, in a mixed-age setting (she loves the older kids!) She's made a ton of friends and is learning so much- socially, emotionally, and academically. And- many days she begs me for more time at pick-up, which I take as the most important stamp of approval ;) I also have to note what a great experience this has been for us as parents, to have this community. When we moved here from out of state last summer, not only did my daughter quickly, happily, and easily transition into the summer camp program (a great way to transition in, by the way- although they also have "phasing in" days for new students to help with this process) - but we also had an instant network. It was easy to make friends through the school's many events and parent's association. It is a community I'm enormously grateful for. Finally, I have to give a shout out to Miss Adiya. She was given a great social, emotional and academic foundation for Kindergarten. We opted to go to the public school for Kindergarten. But, I have met many people who sent their kids to KR & K and loved it. I would recommend to practically everyone. Finally, it is a real bargain when it comes to tuition cost. We paid a considerably lower monthly fee than many other preschools in the area.

She had attended a great music program at the church and had similar high hopes for the school. The experience was fine for the first two classes. On the 3rd class the kids had a "substitute" teacher. The teacher had been told to give candy to all the kids and tell them it was from their normal teacher and that she missed them. The substitute used the candy as a reward for compliance instead. She made the kids sit with their heads down on the table and gave candy only to those that followed all the directions. Apparently, our daughter did not follow all the directions. When picked up she was upset and confused because she thought she was being bad (even though I don't think she really knew what was going on.) This is unacceptable for 3 year-olds just starting their school experience. Our daughter did not get candy and was very confused as to why not. She was still adapting to school and couldn't comprehend what the candy was for and why she didn't get any. Our daughter is normally very outgoing and isn't shy in the least. She's had no problem playing with friends, going to a music class and dancing by herself at dance class. After this incident she has had trouble sleeping. She was very clingy and upset when we tried to go to class the next day and we had to pull her from the school because of this incident. She regressed a bit in potty training having frequent accidents when she had been mostly accident free. We talked to both the teacher and the director of the school and they were apologetic that the situation was handled poorly as the teacher had not meant for the candy to be given selectively. Where they failed was maintaining that school policy be upheld and refusing to honor a refund of the tuition paid. Of $280 paid for the first and last month of school they will only refund $85. They used some crazy math and a notice policy to basically rip us off of the money we paid. I feel this is unacceptable since they created the problem as well as problems outside of school. I didn't receive service, the school created a problem (which they've admitted to and apologize for) and now they refuse to refund our tuition. I would steer clear of this school as there are other choices in Doylestown.
