I just found my new favorite coffee shop in the Greenville area!! I decided to try Mountain Goat after a recommendation from a friend and wow, I am so glad I took the suggestion! The atmosphere of this coffee shop is incredible, from the music playlist to the seating arrangements it really gives off a welcoming community feel. The employees were so kind and super helpful to answer any questions I had. I got a honey ginger latte with oat milk which cost $7.02, this latte included fresh ginger and the flavor was excellent, well worth the price tag. I sat and worked on editing photos for a couple hours and thoroughly enjoyed my time! I will definitely be back soon. read more

I'm a fan of Mountain Goat. I visited on a weekday early evening for two days in a row and ordered a cold brew and cortado. The vibe. It was like walking into a mix of a bike shop, cafe, coffee shop, and mountain store inside a repurposed auto body shop or warehouse. The furnishings are low budget items, nothing fancy. Looks like someone went to Home Depot, bought some lumber, and put together the counters, bar, and displays. Some of the furniture looks like it can from second hand shops. That may not sound flattering but it's done well to create a hip vibe. Music is played on a speaker from one end of the room and it seems like the barista who is working selects music they'd like to listen to. One day they played Indie music. Some of the items they sell in the cafe add to they feel. For instance, they sell Goodr sunglasses and portable camping stoves. Coffee and equipment. Mountain Goat serves Methodical coffee, the best in the area. Their espresso machine is a La Marzocca Linea Classic. Their espresso grinder is Mazzer. I was so glad to see they brewed their coffee on a Fetco machine. Menu. They serve alcohol. Their coffee menu is a simple menu including Cold brew/hot brew, cortado, latte (milk, chai and matcha). They also had a few specialty drinks whose names and chalk writing added to the hip atmosphere (Strawberry Fields Latte). They also serve some delicious looking cold sweet treats and of course their Greenville's own Liege Waffles. What I found most amazing was how many lives they have impacted through their sales. Check out what they are doing for youth! Both of my drinks were good and I'd go back again. I saw folks gathering in small groups, using the meeting room, or like me either by themselves reading a book or working on their computer. read more

I saw a photo on maps and showed them the latte I saw and they recreated it even though it's no longer on the menu. Very sweet staff and great atmosphere. We were in Greenville for the weekend, we found this place on Yelp and decided to stop on our way out of town. We were not disappointed, we were already impressed with their commitment to helping at risk youth before even getting there. But then when we walked in and we were immediately in love. The girls behind the counter were lovely. They were friendly and welcoming, they made us feel like regulars. The coffee was amazing, we got the Luke's Apple Cider Chai, the Lorelai and the Stars Hollow. They were all delicious. I will be recreating the Chai at home, it was that good. But the star of the show was the Stars Hollow!! We got the drinks to go and seriously considered turning around and going back for a couple more of the Stars Hollows!! Delicious doesn't cover it!!! Had their cortado and it was delightful and so tasty! They use Greenville's very own Methodical Coffee, which is always a great choice! They have a large selections of canned beers. Several that Mountain Goat has the exclusive on in all of GVL. They have great pastries that come from Upcountry Provisions in Travelers Rest. They make their own syrups For none coffee and beer drinkers they have Teas, hot chocolate, LaCroix, and water ;) they are soon opening up a section in the shop that wi be for mountain bike repair and sales. My husband and I love this place! We come here about once a week and have beers at the bar. Ryan the owner and the rest of the staff are always a pleasure to have wait on us. Not only do they sell beer and coffee, they also have amazing pastries and desserts from upcountry previsions! They do pizza delivery from dals right down the road on the cheap, if you wanna eat dinner there. Also, they help their community! They take children from need based areas and take them white water rafting, biking, etc. and they do tutoring for them as well! They will always have our money and dedication. Don't be fooled by other reviewers who had one beer and said it's a good business? I am not satisfied at all. The coffee is the most expensive in town! More expensive than Starbucks or Port City Java. The staff is so stupid you just want to swallow your drink and get the hell out of there asap! Oh! And the little young guy in the bike shop! He started with a low price, then by the end I had to pay double!? I brought my bike to be fixed, then he call me and tells me he found other problems with it. I said just fix it. When I came by to take the bike, he said that the chain is broken and need replacing! Why I came to this place and got robbed? Don't even think of bringing your bike here? It's unfortunate that the climbing gym has closed, but they have opened up a coffee/beer and wine/ bike shop and they still help at-risked kids in the Greenville area. They get their coffee from Methodical which is one of my top 2 roasters in the Greenville area. They've been open for about 2 weeks now and are still getting supplies in, but they have ample seating and great natural light streaming in from the garage doors from this redone auto shop. I'm been bouldering for a little over a year now, and try to hit up a new bouldering gym whenever I'm in a new town. This was my second visit to the Mountain Goat which is housed in a little warehouse looking building off of Haywood Road. The climbing gym itself isn't very big and is better for bouldering than it is for top roping (yay for me!). Prices are very cheap- $10/day for bouldering-and the employees are pretty friendly. Although the space isn't huge, there are lots of different routes available, as well as a 45 degree overhang that's fun. There's also a bouldering "rock" wall. While you're here, prepare to sweat (AC isn't the best) and get a good workout on! Also, in case you forget your chalk one day (like silly me!), the gym has a community chalk bag you can carry around. A great local climbing gym with a mission...I'm a fan and would definitely return when I'm in the area again. read more

What a great find in suburban Greenville. You can be a total goof like me and rent some climbing shoes, pay a relatively small fee, and fight gravity for however long your body will allow. Their routes are super clean and not cluttered like some (most) places are. Also, the staff is friendly and other climbers seemed pretty nice. I prefer bouldering, so this was a great spot with enough space to accommodate a fair amount of people. I want to say they had a SUPER affordable monthly rate ($60?), which if I lived in the area I would totally take advantage of, but that's something to look into for the locals. However, the only negative was how hot it was in the gym, almost unbearable. The heat was exhausting but it will not stop us from coming back.
