It had been awhile since I had been able to return back to the Sudgen Theater. And this was my first time at the Kizzie theater there. Tonight's pre performance of Les Miserables was exceptional. The cast acting and singing coupled with the sound in the new theater was remarkable. The costumes and choreography were spot on, and the audience applauded after every scene. The caliber of this performance will certainly put TNP on the map as must see and experience for locals , East and Wesr Coast Floridians,and snowbirds alike.Bravo! read more

The Naples Players is fabulous - highly professional productions and the best location in Naples - surrounded by fab restaurants that are in easy walking distance from the production (dinner and a play anyone?). First time visiting this theater... Lovely venue, I like that you didn't have to climb over anyone to get to your seat. Visibility was good, acoustics were good etc. I look forward to other productions there because the one we saw last night was a little bit anemic. I felt the performers were trying a little bit too hard, but then again I'm from Los Angeles so maybe my standards are rather high. Kudos to anyone who is going to do a live performance. I know it's not easy.I come from a background in improv, where you don't have to memorize anything. The idea of blocking, choreography, memorizing lines, seems especially daunting. read more

I was looking for a theater to go with my in laws and came upon this theater. I ordered tickets for the Great Gatsby a few weeks in advance and only knew that the area the theater was located in, which is Naples was a nice area. When we got there I was pleasantly impressed with the theater...there were tables for drinks, piano, drink/snack bar, etc. The place wasn't big but it was very clean, bright and classy. The doors to the seating/stage opened 30 minutes before the opening curtain at 8 and when we walked in we found it to be small, intimate and very clean. By no means was it Broadway seating but everywhere you say you would have a great view of the show. There were about 200 seats or so but it was very comfortable. The show was good, 2 hours with a fifteen minute intermission. The actors were good and did a very nice job. The only downside was the price of drinks and snacks which were very pricey. The staff there were also very friendly and attentive. I would definitely come back for future shows. read more

Five star for thespian enthusiasm,. Two star for quality of productions. Three star for a comfortable, intimate live theatre venue. Five star location, right smack in the middle of Naples' busiest tourist intersection on Fifth Avenue South. I attended a reading of the three winning One Act plays submitted by local playwrights. The producer announced that three judges considered thirty submissions in order to arrive at the winning entries. Unfortunately, there was no Talk Back after the readings. My friends and I agreed that at least two of the three plays had development potential, and it would have been interesting to hear audience feedback. Strictly moderated, of course. The reading itself got a bit off the rails. Some of the actors could not stay seated with eyes on the script. Some just could not restrain themselves from (imagine a flourish of a cape here) ACT-Ting! Amusing and entertaining. It was particularly interesting, too, to see that the plays' themes reflected the emotional universe of the (ahem) older generation: Lost love in WWII. Suicide in old age. 1950s style Snowbird adultery. Overall, a good, fun resource to keep the ghost of Christmas Past on his feet in SW FL. read more

One of the best, if not the best, community theater in the country. The quality of the shows... the talent here is superior to most 'professional' theaters. This is one of the better things about Naples. Go see a show or two here. They also offer classes in all things theater. They have an amazing kids program. I went to go see "Wit" here a few years ago and it was the most incredible performance I've seen in my life. Which really surprised me because I have been volunteering in community theatre since I was about 10 and I have never seen anything as moving as this show in my life. So I was thoroughly impressed with the casting. So the theatre is doing something right. The facilities are beautiful as well and looks like a high class theatre. They keep the place looking pristine. I can't say much about the usher's though but I have never seen a good usher. There really is no such thing because all usher's are horrible, no matter where they are in the U.S. If I stop though Naples again, this will definitely be a must stop. read more

This is an incredible local theatre that puts on Broadway-quality performances! The location allows for an evening out on 5th Ave for dinner and drinks that are all within walking distance to the theatre that is right in the middle of 5th Avenue South. I went to see Mama Mia with 6 of my friends for the last performance on July 28th. The show, as always, was fabulous! We have been to this theater many times over the years and have never seen a bad production. The intimacy of this venue is absolutely part of it's charm as there is not a bad seat in the house. However, there is a change from last year regarding beverage prices that was a little off putting. The price of a glass of wine has doubled. For $12.00 you get a plastic "sippy cup" with about 4 oz. of wine. After the initial shock, we assumed you would get a discount on the second purchase because you are forced to buy the "sippy cup". We received $1 off the second glass. We had 2 glasses each, for a total of $161.00 and took home "sippy cups" we did not want. That is a huge negative. I will continue to see the shows but will never purchase another beverage there again. read more

Went to see Charles Ives Take Me Home. The venue is great. The performance and content as a whole should get one star only because there is nothing less to give. This was the most painful performances I ever been to. Had these tickets not been a gift from a friends mom who was with us, I would have left in the first 15 minutes. Rocky Horror Picture Show, Thursday the 20th. Great show, cast and crew. Music was top shelf. Every member really sold the performance. A wonderful venue. If your not cool, be careful, it may be too raunchy for you. My date and I had a fun and memorable evening. read more

What a talented group of actors and actresses in the Young Frankenstein play we saw last night. An interesting combination of teens through seniors made this diverse cast really fun to watch. Hard to believe these are "just local actors". I truly felt like many could easily perform on Broadway, if they so desired. Would really like to come back and see another production next time I'm in town! read more

Went to see My Fair Lady. Better then Broadway. The theater with comfortable and a perfect size. The volunteers were amazing and extremely talented. Truly the best musical I've seen in my whole entire life. The price of the show was $40. That is unbelievable for such and outstanding event. The costumes and the hats were absolutely beautiful!!!! I've been doing shows with the Naples players since the summer of 2015. I don't think I will ever find a better theater than this one. I recommend going to all the shows you possibly can, Trust me they are well organized and they know what They're doing. I recommend going to the annual "The Nutcracker Goes Pop" it's is like the original 'Nutcracker' but more lively and different dances. With many fun roles from cowboy to reindeers! read more

we love the theater and to our delight this was located right around the corner from our hotel (the Inn of Fifth). we noticed that the last play of the season was still on and had a performance on sat nite. so we went to the box office window (lady there is ok but not too friendly) we were trying to figure out dinner issue before buying tickets and did not purchase them nor noticed the sign which states they close at 1pm on sat.... (and the friendly window lady did not tell us so when we asked if there were still tickets). when we came back later it was closed, but called & recorder stated they open 2 hrs prior to show. so we went back & were able to get our tickets. we were told be same nice lady that there was a choice between front row & back area - so we decided to get front row (not bad for $30.00 a piece). again she was not very informative and advise how small the theatre is. it is a very nice cozy venue and it would of been fine (actually better) if we would of gone for the ones in the back area) front row was not so bad but was right there and had to tilt our heads a bit up to watch. the acoustics is not that great there thou, so don't expect anything like a broadway show.... the Naples Players were good thou. the play was The Importance of Being Earnest. it was a 3 act play with 2 10min intermission. the first 2 acts a bit slow but the last was funny. the players did a very nice and professional job. the costume designs were beautiful and true to the era of the story. it was great having this option to us as an after dinner entertainment if planning on going to area, check out their schedule and if you pick a show, check out early dinner specials in the area as well - show did start at 8pm and ended up at 10:30pm... there was drinks available for purchase and also the headsets to assist with the hearing. theatre is kept well and clean. ushers are very well informed and helpful. we enjoyed our nite out to the theatre!! read more
