I really enjoyed my night out here. Great place to have a few drinks with a small group of people (or for a birthday party in better weather.) I like the cocktails here, which are well made and delicious. I especially liked the Caulfield's Dream, which was a great drink made with mezcal. But skip eating in the restaurant back room, which is typical hipster New American nonsense. Think of a child's size portion of $10 chicken fingers that takes forty minutes to reach your table, and you've got the idea. read more

Came here with a group of friends to enjoy some drinks. The decor suggests an art-deco getaway vibe which I was into to. There are two narrow rooms, the front where the bar is and the back which has booths and a commual table. We sat at a booth and ordered a mixture of things--beer, wine, and some of the house cocktails. Everything was great and priced well. I could see this as a great date place or a more intimate spot to gather with friends--it seemed this was the first stop for a lot of people on their night out. Perfect for people watching and making eyes at strangers as well. Didn't try any of the food but it sounded and smelled good, and seemed perfect for late night drunk snacking. Only low point is the bar is cash only but I'll let it slide since I had a good time. read more

the narrows is one of the better bars in bushwick. the bartenders there are knowledgeable and laid back. drink prices are reasonable. the music isnt played at a conversation wrecking levels. the narrows, as its title suggests, is very narrow. so narrow in fact that i wouldn't recommend going there in groups larger than 3 or 4... unless its warm outside their patio is open. the patio is quite large in comparison to the inside bar. its a nice patio space. all in all, the narrows its a cool little spot. i'd recommend stopping by if you're in the area. read more

This is going to be very, very bad for my liver. It was bad enough when I lived close to Clover Club, but at least there, the price of the drinks helped curb my inner lush. Not so with the Narrows. Spectacularly good cocktails for $8. I'm sorry, dear liver, so sorry. The bartenders here know what they're doing. They happened to have Luxardo maraschino cherry liqueur on the shelf. I've had some damn fine drinks mixed with Luxardo (the Tennessee at the Rialto in Cambridge comes to mind), and it's something I don't have at home, so I thought, as I so often do, why not? I asked my charming and helpful bartender if he could do something interesting with it. He could. It was a drink I wouldn't have concocted myself, or probably ordered, but, oh, what a fine drink it was. Luxardo, creme de violette, and gin. Oh my, oh yes. For $8. As a final note, I kind of wish they took cards. But, then again (for the sake of my liver, and for my impaired judgments after two cocktails that thinks a third is a good idea), it's for the best they don't. As long as I don't bring more than $20, I should be fine. PS, they don't have Cynar (which I realize doesn't bother most of you one bit, but since I've got a list called "Cynar," it's obviously something I want to know about). Favorite place to get a finely crafted cocktail. They made me something not on the menu when I told them I like straight whiskey. It was perfection. The place can get really crowded, but good for them. I love the super spicy jalepeno infused tequila. Great prices. Missing a star because of "cash only" (and also because I haven't yet found ~my~ cocktail). I love this place. I usually go after work for a sandwich or drink and have yet to be disappointed. Hidden away in a no-name black storefront, The Narrows is definitely "hip." The backyard is lovely and quiet, and I've never seen it busy: sure, there's always someone there, and once I did see the bar filled up, but I've never had to stand or squeeze past someone or any of the other things I hate doing in bars. In fact, when I come, I like to sit alone with a book and read in peace. The introvert's dream. Food/drink: I've had the Babushka, which is a ginger-kicked vodka drink with lime, for $7, and the Lucky Lindy, which is gin and creme de violette and other stuff, for $8. Neither have particularly stood out, though I've ordered both several times, so I plan to make my way through the rest of the drink menu in hopes of finding The One. But the food. Oh, the food. Namely, oh, the quail egg sandwich. One of the yummiest things I've ever eaten. Four little sandwich bites topped with quail egg, bacon jam and lemon aioli. Succulent, decadent, delicious. I guess it's supposed to just be a "bar snack", but I'm a light eater and can use this as my dinner. So good. All in all, I love this place because it provides a combination of things most bars don't: classiness, solitude, peace, a backyard not full of people smelling like PBR, really good food. read more

As you can probably tell if you read any of my other reviews, I'm a sucker for a cute, dark cocktail bar.. and this one is just a little bit of a walk/ bike ride from home. My husband and I both work nights, so our dates are usually going out for a drink after work. This is the perfect place to sit in romantic lighting while we unwind and enjoy delicious drinks. It's nice to finally have a bar in the neighborhood that isn't so dive-y. Not that I have a problem with dives, but sometimes it's nice to have other options. The specialty drinks are great-- Hotel Delmano-style, but several dollars cheaper. The back patio is nice--it doesn't feel like you are in Bushwick at all. The staff is friendly, the music is good, and the atmosphere is laid back. The walls could use some art; things are looking a little spare. Over recent years as they hype about the neighborhood has increased many of the bars in Bushwick have become, for want of a better word, douchey. Overgrown frat boys, sneering staff, preening self-satisfied hipsters and over priced drinks are standard. This place has none of that, the staff are excellent, they play great music, they are friendly and attentive and the drinks are reasonably priced and very well mixed. As a physical space it's also one of the best looking bars in the neighborhood, it has kind of an art deco feel and has a great back yard. Like I say, just about the best bar in the neighborhood. Only negative is that they no longer seem to be serving a full menu of food - only bar snacks. read more

The cocktails at this bar are so exquisitely crafted that you will find yourself wondering why at other bars you are happy to settle for just a gin and tonic. The vibe of this bar is simply just cool and lacks pretension. I went here last night with my boyfriend for a drink around 8pm. About half to three quarters of the seats inside were occupied, really not very busy. But the bartender totally ignored us. I am still shocked by how terrible the service was. The drinks were good but totally not worth the frustrating experience. Once our first round of drinks were finished, we couldn't get out of there fast enough. Will definitely not be going back. read more

The fries here are amazing, which is why I came. They taste almost exactly like McDonald's French fries--which is awesome. I also love the decorating and atmosphere. Excellent spot to hang out with friends. Lots of extra seating. read more
