I initially gave this group a great review, however I now amending that to reflect how things…read moreprogressed since that point. I worked with Carlton legal group to complete a bankruptcy. I was garnished for thousands of dollars, and was initially assured I would get "basically all of it" back. That was nearly $3,000. I paid well over half of my fees. The money I was supposed to get back from garnishments was supposed to pay for the remainder of the fees and I was told that I would also get a bit over $1000 back, and the check arrives within 3 months of bankruptcy settlement. My bankruptcy was completed in early October of last year. Around January I started sending emails to the paralegal that was assigned to me. No responses. A month or so later I called, was told she would check into it and call me back. No response. Another month later I called again, was told "I'll bring it up to him in a meeting this afternoon, but it's only like $200". Never heard another word after that call, which has been approximately 6 months ago now. So basically what I'm getting from this is "I got my money, so your money isn't really my problem". And the calculations are most definitely not adding up, so I'm guessing they pocketed it all. If that is the attitude you would like to have, then just charge more ‍ don't promise a single mother of 3 who got screwed and is starting over completely on her own "over $1000" after everything is said and done only to completely blow them off after the fact. That was a huge financial blow to me. In today's economic climate, honesty and integrity really are more important than ever because we have got to make our dollars stretch. I chose this lawyer after being assured in my initial consultation that I would get everything back. I would most definitely not recommend this lawyer to anyone for a bankruptcy, particularly if you have already been garnished. He may look good on paper, but he's just another greasy lawyer. I highly suggest finding someone more honest to give your hard-earned money to.

The scenario is almost identical to Alexander's post. I hired Preston Hicks for $1000.00 retainer,…read moreand I too suffered the pangs of non-itemized billing. I was in a child custody battle with child support. He literally filed suit against me to recover his fee, which by the end of the case was nearly $3000.00. I was put in jail until I could pay the fee. Worst of all when we did have the hearing I did all the talking. He never opened his mouth. Indeed he passed the Bar exam, but he is not a lawyer advocating for his client. He is about the almighty dollar. How does a lawyer suit the very client that hired him? A measly $300.00 owed. I learned later, that he files lawsuits frequently to recoup what other his clients owe him. To date, I found 23 lawsuits. CAUTION: There are many lawyers that are far more empathic. DO YOUR RESEARCH.

Do not hire this lawyer. I gave him a $1000 retainer fee. The last time I met with him I thought I…read morewas working under the same retainer fee. At the end of the meeting he said "I need a retainer fee of $2000". I told him I couldn't afford that and that we'd have to part ways. I then received a bill for $500 for firing him. He literally charged me 25% of what it would have cost me to hire in order to fire him. That's like going to a car dealership looking at a $20,000 car and then having the dealership charge you $5,000 because you couldn't buy it. And then he issued a summons for me to appear in court because I couldn't afford his firing fee. He will arbitrarily change his fees and give you bills with no description whatsoever. This lawyer is a sham and you will regret it if you hire him.
