I have discovered that if they are really busy not nearly as much care goes in to the food. As a result the lamb is tough or the spices not blended right. But on the days they get it right, sweet Jesus, there is a party in my mouth and it's from you Curry Garden. The meat is perfectly cooked, the spices blended to perfection, the rice fluffy, the Naan breads fresh and delicious. The pakoras, amazing! Sitting in is a treat, as the food is always presented beautifully. The staff are attentive but not intrusive. They have the much tastier Kingfisher on tap, rather than Cobra which they have in bottles. The chef specialties are just delicious and authentically Indian. At the end of the dinner they always give the ladies a Rose. I know it's cheesy, but I quite like it. Take away are better collected rather than delivered, as you get a whacking great discount for bothering your arse to walk down the road. As much care goes in to take away, but again this is when they are not busy. I would highly recommend Curry Garden during the week. But on weekends just know your Lamb Tikka Balti is not nearly as tasty as the one I had on Wednesday.

Staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you. The tall skinny manager is a ledge he could talk the hind-legs off a donkey if your in the mood otherwise he'll be polite and let you get on with it. The menu's are posh and bound with stainless steel...nice tough. The actual plates and dishes that come out are strikingly hot though blistered my finger on my bowl of lady fingers, did put a downer on my meal Friday a bit if honest but own silly fault. It gets a bit cold in here sometimes oddly?? Also if busy onion b's aren't worth ordering and some dishes don't taste exceptional like they do if chef has a quieter shift. Shame that. Take out is prepared with as much love and care as eat in but again avoid peak hours for delivery as your in for a wait and wont be as delish as a quieter night maybe. The dosa is dramatic--served in a cone shape and it takes up half the table. The filling is served on the side so you can dip the dosa as you like. Also served with a couple of excellent chutneys and a side of daal. This was my third time at this location and probably my 15th time across their locations, and everything about it is consistent. The food--especially their South Indian cuisine, is exceptional with flavors you generally won't find in most curry places. The service is efficient, and the room comfortable and also efficient if not particularly fancy or special. You're there for the food.

Eating in, Devdas is nicely decorated, especially when compared to some of the other establishments in the area. It also serves some interesting dishes with a twist. I like the Bengali fishcakes. We mainly use the Devdas takeaway service though (as we have young children). Most times, the food is just as good as you would get in the restaurant and a reasonable price. Although not the cheapest, it's worth paying a bit extra to get quality. I like my curries with a bit of flavour and the hotter dishes, such as Madras and Vindaloo are always of a consistent strength. I judge this as a sign of a restaurant who knows what they're doing in the kitchen. They have some excellent vegetarian dishes too. My wife is always happy that she doesn't have to compromise on choice if we use Devdas. Hmmm, just writing this is making me feel like a takeaway tonight.
