The Old Spaghetti Factory is a chain restaurant and delivers in this way. It's located on the second floor of a mall which makes it super convenient for people walking through downtown Banff. That being said, like all restaurants in Banff, it's pretty crowded, so it's pretty important to get a reservation. We called about 2 hours before we wanted to get a table for 5 people and we were successful. When we sat down, we received very attentive service from a waiter who was constantly filling our water, and who gave us extra ice cream in the end even though we only had ordered 4 entrees. The prices were lower than most places in Banff, and so it made eating here a good option for us near the end of our vacation. The meal portions themselves are pretty small, but they're delicious. Given the bread, the soup (which was pretty standard, but good), the ice cream (a mixture of sorbet and vanilla), and the actual meal, the value was excellent. I'd go here again. read more

I had not been here for years and years and forgotten about this place. To start we had bam bam shrimp and these was fantastic. We almost had a fight over sharing them out. Then we find out the pasta dishes come with an appetizer. So I had to eat a French onion Soup. Then was lasagna which was extra cheesey. Es had canolonni which she liked a lot. The food was absolutely amazing and cheap! For most menu items, they include everything from bread to salad to your ice cream - literally such a treat. Their menu is large and the waitress that we had seemed to know everything whenever we had questions (allergy). I ordered the spaghetti with bolognese sauce and the plate was huge and the salad was delicious. I also treated myself to the chocolate milkshake. My partner got the seafood pasta and he was just as satisfied. For the price you absolutely can not go wrong. The decor is a little dated but it felt so cozy, the stained glass was amazing. The little touches that they did was so great. The only downside is that they do not have a washroom inside the restaurant - you need to go out into the mall. This is always a great place to eat if you want comfort food. Drinks weren't as cold as I would like and they were short-staffed but we weren't in any hurry. I've been to The Old Spaghetti Factory at home and been disappointed but my family and I chose to go here since it was a familiar name. I'm writing this review because it was actually a great choice for dinner in Banff and I was pleasantly surprised about the affordability and the food this time. We got the Seafood Linguini Marinara, Linguini with White Clam Sauce, Chicken Parm, and the Roasted Grilled Chicken. As always the portions are large, but this time I actually really liked the pastas. The Seafood Linguini Marinara was a hit for me. I actually really enjoyed the Marinara sauce and it came with ample portions of shrimp and scallops. I got the Minestrone soup that came along with the meal and that was delicious as well. It was reasonably priced for all the food we got and the salad/soup, bread, ice cream, and coffee/tea that came with each meal. Definitely a good casual choice while in Banff. read more

My wife ordered the clam spaghetti which she said was good. I ordered the seafood alfredo which was awful. The sauce was room temp and coagulated and the noodles were so overcooked that they were almost mush. I needed a magnifying glass to find the 4 or five tiny bay scallops. When I was a kid, my mom always made me finish my plate because "people in Africa are starving" so I almost always do . . . but I left 80% of that dish uneaten and just shared my wife's dinner. Each meal comes with bread and garlic butter. The infused butter was really good but the bread was not fresh, or at least it didn't taste fresh or have a fresh texture. I never complain when I get served a bad meal because I've seen too many people do that only so that they can get something "free" - a free dessert, a comp for their next meal, free drinks, etc. I always just chalk it up to experience and cross the place off my list. Maybe that's not fair but a restaurant should never serve bad food and, if it does, there needs to be consequences. Old Spaghetti Factory has the best bang for buck in the touristy town of Banff. It's been around for decades and it's where to go if you want a menu that never changes in a restaurant that hasn't been updated like EVER. Their prices are the most competitive too. For $10.99, I had a delicious, simple plate of al dente spaghetti with a simple yet heart marinara sauce. It came with a choice of soup or salad and unlimited bread. You really can't beat that price, especially since I paid $24 for pasta at another restaurant the following day and was hardly full from it. Even the factory's most expensive meals are barely more than $20 a plate. Our server was great and she made sure a warm loaf of bread was on the table before we even opened our menus. I hear there's some inconsistent reviews about their service but for $10.99 for a 3 course meal, you're practically committing highway robbery. I've had a lot of different variations of spaghetti and I can tell when the chef takes ~time~ on the sauce. Did my gf and I get served something that no one else got? The food was pretty terrible in my opinion and I would have rather had McD which is rare. It is pretty cheap I guess considering it comes with coffee, soup or salad and dessert with the meal for ~$15. At our table we had the Manager's spaghetti and the spicy chorizo cannelloni, menu says it was hand made pasta which I really doubt. The salad was also clearly out of the box mixed garden salad (the unfresh kind, where it looks and tastes like it was sitting in the fridge for a day or two). The only "good" surprise was it had light sesame dressing which seems rare for these western cuisines. Oh and maybe the icecream. Eating here reminds me of those kitchen nightmare shows where gordan ramsay reads the menu in disgust while attempting to eat the dish. So in summary yes it is filling and affordable in a tourist area but so is boiling water over a camp fire to make pasta and buying pasta sauce from safeway. Sorry, I hate to be negative but our whole party agrees the food is terrible, should have went to McD instead. On the flip side check out El Toro, the food and service is amazing!!! read more
