The quarry is always digging up more material to go through and we found hundreds of trilobites on this day trip. Between my family and our friends we had seven kids under the age of 12! All of them had a blast and a memory they will never forget! What is better than looking for fossil treasures by beating rocks with hammers. Don't think you can't do it because I watched a four-year-old with a little child's hammer split open a shake rock almost as big as her! Thanks to Jessica for being a great host!

So this time when my dad came to visit, he took me down here to A New Dig to dig my own :) We had an awesome experience with Clay (and his cute little assistant!) today. Clay was super attentive and taught us what kind of rocks to look for, how to use the equipment, and what parts of the quarry were plentiful (basically everywhere). When my fam came last time, they went to a different company, which my dad said had smaller trilobites than the ones we found today, and there were more of them here than at the other site. Basically, it was a higher quality experience with bigger fossils! Couldn't beat having the owner talk rocks with us and show us his best spots, as well as give us some trilobites he found while he was with us. He also told us what different types of trilobites, brachiopods, and other algae and plant life we were seeing in the fossils. It was a great day and we stayed for 3.5 hours just digging away, happily hounding the rocks! We took home a big bucket of fossils; he offered to let us take as many home as we wanted but my dad was travelling and we couldn't load up. Super generous!! I will DEFINITELY be back with friends this summer and we will be staying the weekend. Clay and his wife made trilobite digging a great experience for me and my dad- thank you so much for letting us open the season
