The space was airy and had great lighting to show off their collection of funky home decor and unique pieces of furniture, most of which had the upholstered, stressed image, but came with a hefty price tag. My favourite piece of furniture was the strange big orange industrial looking coffee table, it wouldn't fit in with our 'look' at home, but I could appreciate its coolness! My favourite small item was a long stem black candleabra, it had me lingering with contemplation about a possible purchase, but I turned away without looking at the price tag, this place is nice but expensive. I am sure this place would draw in bigger crowds if it was situated somewhere like Mt Eden or Ponsonby, but it is good for Pt Chev and once the names is out there I am sure they will/do have a following. That's because Bob ("Best of British") and Friends is a lovely restored Ponsonby Villa, with the items being beautifully displayed within each room and along the center corridor. I love this store. Why? It is filled with a plethora of awesome and original homewares - from quirky gifts, gorgeous items for your home, artwork, classic furnishings. Many of the items seem to have a history, a story of their own, items to get a conversation started (such as the classic Japanese Robots, the re-worked clocks on the wall that used to be from Auckland hospital, the neon signs). It is clear that each item has been tastefully and thoughtfully chosen. There are so many things in Bob and Friends that I have coveted - and the prices are reasonable, considering the high quality of the homewares. And super friendly service to boot. Think gorgeous French antiques, refurbished furniture and oodles of atmosphere. I would buy anything and everything, had I the money to do so. If you follow them on Facebook you can see what new items they have arriving in store. You can often find second-hand authentic Tolix chairs, industrial-style lights and shades and gorgeous, reasonably-priced vintage bottles. They hire out furniture too - perfect if you've got a function coming up or even just want extra seating at home over busy periods like Christmas.

Filled with French antique delights, its like a Parisian treasure trove. There are tables, chairs, huge lights, rustic medicine bottles, and cabinets packed with hundreds of gems. Loads of cafes like 'Foxtrot' have their antiques as their café furniture and if had my own house, I know where I'd be heading to fit it out. When I talked to the shop assistant he said that they also hire out the outdoor tables and chairs for functions. They would be perfect for weddings.

The…read moreday I went in last they had a funky outdoor table and bench that was made from various different colours of wood planks and a 70's styled swivel chair with matching foot stool that was covered in grey fabric with different coloured buttons in the back. Yes some of the furniture is country themed, but there are also some arty or quirky pieces and home decor items. Price wise, the range is from $6 for a Turkish water glass to $1,000 upwards for furniture. If you're after a store that is different from the norm to furnish your house, this is one of the best Auckland has to offer I reckon.

Upon entry I was greeted by a particularly friendly chatty woman who happily gave me a tour of the store. Koko Classics stocks furniture and eclectic objects - or 'objects of desire' as they call them - that are imported from around the world. Wrought iron letters, vintage clocks, taxidermy, wooden drawers, chandeliers, huge lamps, writing desks, ottomans, platters - the store has it all and I literally loved everything. Except the large zebra hide that was draped over the staircase. Zebras are my favourite animal and that was kind of hard to stomach! The beautifully large ornate mirrors were probably my favourite thing in store, though they ranged in price from $400-$1400, I might have to wait a while to buy one! Even though Koko Classics is a bit out of my current price range, if I was decorating a house especially one with large living spaces, I would definitely want to invest in some of the fantastic things this store has to offer. Tip: One of the most commanding objects in the store was a mounted moose head. It was huge, and apparently weighs over 50kg! It's worth popping into Koko Classics just to have a look!

Not so much with the cowhide rugs, cushions and throws but each to their own. There's a cool mix of stuff here, mostly reproduction but no less appealing for the fact and the one-offs they do find are truly beautiful pieces. It's kind of industrial meets rustic meets gentlemen's club and I particularly love the range of brightly coloured metal chairs. There's furniture, furnishings, lamps and cool signage and wall hangings. The shop is a beautiful space in a gallery-like building and although you have to be a bit careful of the pedestrians (and traffic light poles!), there's a couple of carparks right outside.

The whole experience of walking through the showroom is something luxurious with the plush furniture much of which you can sit down and relax on, there is a coffee machine and the day we were there they even had brownies on offer. Downstairs and upstairs is packed with couches and occasional furniture. We felt the quality was absolutely outstanding, this is what their branding is all about. But you do have to pay for the privilege of quality. Luckily things were on sale because it would be the only way we could make a purchase at this store. Ended up, we re-covered our existing couch and are happy with it for now. Back to DM at a later date, we will time it for one of their major sales.

The pieces are a mix of French and, Asian and Bohemian, you'll find French chairs upholstered with bright coloured fabrics, Asian styled cabinets in soft duck egg blue with an almost tribal feel to them. They also have a great range of little wood stools and other interesting occasional pieces of furniture that would make for an interesting addition to your place. Home decor items include anything from large glass jars, vessels, cake domes and candles. It is a great place to come for gifts too and with the prices ranging from $20 to $2000, I also think very good pricing. They have some draws and cabinets that I would say are comparable to what Red Current stock but at almost half the price. The layout of the store is really funky too, organised chaos, a great store, something that little bit different.

Like many of my discoveries in Auckland, I happened on this place rather by chance. I'm currently furniture/ knick knack shopping for my poor little empty flat so this store was a godsend. There are some really beautiful pieces, one set of drawers In particular which I narrowly missed out on! Ah regret! I did purchase a really fantastic wall hanging for my bedroom the last time I was in there however, and at $180 I thought it was pretty much a bargain, considering the size and quality of it any rate. If you have to save your pennies to purchase one of these individually crafted and lovingly restored pieces I suggest starting now as they go quick.
