As a result of a conflict with my roommate, the school failed to take any action. In addition, when compared to the math class at my new university, I feel that CCAD needs to improve its current curriculum as it lags behind other schools such as IU and Ohio State. This is my opinion because people should have a basic understanding of general educational knowledge before they go into full-scale art, as they will need to know how to write proper essays and how to perform basic math functions during their lifetime.

Hoping that the event would be held at polished and corporate location, I was pleasantly surprised that this location lived up to my expectations. Ambiance: The Mitchell Hall is the state-of-the-art facility with modern architecture and plenty of natural light. The first floor features multiple kitchens, culinary labs, bakery, culinary theater, Degrees restaurant, Blend Café, and a boardroom. I walked around during the conference break curious about the interior. It's modern, contemporary, and clean. Most of my time was spent at the event center on the second floor. The campus is right in the heart of Columbus. The event center provides a panoramic view of downtown Columbus, and there's a nice balcony. The space conveniently welcomed us (hundreds of attendees), had a stage, and many networking nooks. I found it very convenient to have seating separate from the conference room to unwind. Parking: Multiple parking lots are available onsite. Each parking lot is clearly marked for intended users - students, faculty, or specific groups. QR codes can be conveniently scanned for parking, number of hours selected. It has to be the most modern parking system I have seen on college campuses. It was quite complex to find the parking lots closest to the events due to small font numeration system. I'd recommend this facility to anyone looking to host events. It provides enough seclusion from the downtown chaos and modern ambiance. It's a presentable location with versatile space options.

The Lazarus building, an art work in-and-of itself, should have a seperate Yelp entry. The giant…read moreterracotta monster that takes a full city block with one million square feet has been around since 1909 and was renovated about a decade ago. It's mindboggling to think that one mammoth department store took all this space. But it did--a cosmopolitan cornerstone for decades. They made a right choice in preserving the building and by adding this challenging art gallery as a tenant. OSU's urban art space is access from Town Street through a gash in the building; once a section of Wall Street, the forgotten alley running through downtown randomly impeded by development, is now a wide non-enclosed hallway. Framed by a sequence of square arches and large vertical glass the hall dead ends in an gorgeous art deco backdrop centered by a diamond shaped clock. A great choice of design that harkens back to the cosmo cool tastes of the 1920s. The entrance to the gallery is to the right. Minimalistic and white by design, the gallery accents space with the atmosphere of a working studio. In several rooms that connect each other by 90-degree angles, it's seeming purpose is to throw visitors in the midst of art with no preconception by looking ahead. A sort of 'throw them in the deep end' philosophy that hit before psychological filtering; an exhibit is experienced before perceptions are edited by cognition. I saw the "Engineering Utopia", a look at the interaction between artist and engineer--a symbolic representation of the corpus callosum that connects left and right brain. (It ended July 15) They describe utopia as a place that is built for perfection but bound to fail yet makes discoveries of technology and the human experience--living up to Thomas Moore's ideas when he invented the term 'utopia.' The exhibits is connected with Ohio State art and engineering schools. I thought the exhibit was interesting, thought provoking and certainly challenged my idea what art could be. There were many restoration projects and old computer graphic art that intrigued. I also turned one of the blind corners and ran into a robot exhibit with the exhibition head and wife there. The robot moved toward me and when I was sensed it snapped a picture which displayed on a screen. Although I remain unconvinced that technology is art (then again who am I to say?) I had a good time. The exhibits are free and a must for any art lover spending time in downtown.

The fundamental problem is that this has always been a museum nobody asked for in a location that would be better used for something more useful to the OSU community in a poorly planned building named after a person who is probably not a point of pride for the school and whose contribution cannot possibly have covered even a fraction of what it's cost to keep the place up over the years. Other than that, it's great. Seriously, though - if you're visiting columbus and want to see an art museum, the downtown one is the way to go, or their short north outpost if you're into contemporary art. If you're visiting Ohio State and want to see exhibits about what they do there, there are nice ones in the library and scattered across the various department buildings. I don't know what the future holds for this place...but they better figure something out before they go the way of Mean Mr. Mustard's.

We ended up parking in the Campus South parking garage, and it was just a short walk over. Entrance was free. The current exhibits of modern art were abstract, and I found some of them a little challenging to understand. Nonetheless, I am glad this center exists and I do appreciate art in all its forms. Staff was very friendly and they have a cool gift shop with items you will likely not find anywhere else.

Back in 2016 when they were Long Street…read moreCollective, I decided to get a piece done commemorating my love of the written word, but without too many words (a little difficult). I couldn't find anything on the interwebs that really conveyed what I wanted it to. I found artist Chris Barton on Instagram and after following him for a while I decided that his style was something I loved and that I though would suit the piece well. We emailed back and forth a few times with a pretty vague description of what I was hoping for, and I had to set my appointment out 8 weeks in advance (they were busy, a great sign!). I didn't see the sketch until I arrived which worried me a bit, but all my fears were calmed the minute I looked at it! I explained my concerns with past tattoo artists who had heavy hands, causing some scarring underneath the tattoo. As someone with darker skin, this is a real concern! He took his time, paid attention to every single detail, and the result was perfect. You could see the artists around the studio were all extremely dedicated to their crafts and styles, and that's why I still sing their praises though I haven't gotten any more tattoos since then. Worth it!!

I made an appointment and when I showed up the next day everything was ready to go; the design was complete and printed, the equipment was all set up, and the artist was prepared and accommodating. They had great music playing and offered me beverages to make me feel even more welcomed. The actual tattoo session was great. The artist was friendly and explained to me fully every step he was taking to ensure the piece was just right--very professional. I am beyond satisfied with how the tattoo turned out and if I ever visit Columbus again I will return for another piece. Also, incredibly reasonable pricing for how satisfied I am with the experience.

When JoAnn closed (RIP), I figured I'd just buy crafting supplies online but it's been surprisingly difficult to find materials and even harder to buy them sight unseen. Craft Raccoon is like JoAnn's but better priced and you can actually feel good about shopping there because everything you buy is reused and saved from landing in a landfill. Plus, the owner of the store is so kind and helpful. I've learned a lot just through shopping there. But if you want to learn more, they also have really fun classes - like how to sew a fish bag or a class on spinning (i.e., turning wool into thread). Go check it out! You'll be glad you did!

An assortment of craft supplies and tools up front: yarn, sewing supplies, stamps, a few stickers, a small selection of pencils and other drawing supplies, paper craft stuff, etc. Very reasonably priced. And a yarn store next door if you need more of that. Street parking, easy enough on a weekday. Definitely get here if you are at all crafty.
