I was traveling with my husband, his brother and our sister-in-law for a weekend getaway. This was our first wine stop of the trip. Late afternoon, the temperature was in the 90s and a slushie sounded good. My sis-in-law and I got the slushies. The boys both got tastings. We thought the slushies were tasty, I would get that again. The boys were not as enthusiastic about their tasting. Everything was okay, but not great. The staff is really welcoming and it is a great space. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor seating, being on the east side of the building, and covered has nice shade from afternoon heat. The parking lot is good sized. I stopped here to try some wine on a recent trip to Palisade. I ordered a flight which was $15 for four pours. The way they make the wine is different than traditional methods, so just be aware you'll try some unique stuff when you come. I really enjoyed the Chardonnay, which was very buttery as opposed to oaky. This place is cute, with ample seating! It'd be a good place for a group to visit. I enjoyed my flight, but I kept having to go up to the bar to get a new glass of wine. I wish they had an option where they gave you four glasses at once to try so you can compare/contrast in real time. I enjoyed the wine and overall I would come back on another trip. read more

Winemaker and owner Ben Parsons ("The Englishman") is a fellow cricket tragic who studied Oenology at the University of Adelaide's Roseworthy campus, a region that I am very familiar with as an ex-Adelaide lad. Ben was a fabulous Host, who gave us great insight into how his wines are produced, and how and why he offers so much variety. Some of the best wines that we have tasted anywhere. Such a cute indoor outdoor winery! We stopped in here on our ride from Denver to Telluride after lunch and did a wine tasting flight. So many great wines to choose from and only $15. There was no one in there while we were there but the bartender was very talkative and welcoming. We stopped into the Ordinary Fellow on a quiet Sunday and found two seats at the bar. The space is massive and there were several places to sit with large or small groups. Their barrels are within eye sight inside and I imagine they likely give tours (or def should consider it). We tried several wines but unfortunately didn't fall in love with any. We had also been to two previous wineries and had our favorites there, so maybe we entered with some unknown biases. Only one person was working and for a while, all seemed well. Things took a turn when he injected himself and his viewpoints into a conversation my partner and another patron were having. Mind you, he wasn't asked for his opinion nor was he included in the conversation originally. Just a few minutes into the conversation, we were asked to leave - to the surprise of even the couple we were speaking with. There are def some topics that don't bode well with others, this wasn't religion, politics or money. It was the oddest thing ever. Nice relaxing space. They are located in the former United Fruit Growners Assn. shed near downtown and the Union Pacific railroad tracks. They have a large shaded outdoor space and indoor space next to tasting bar and production area. They offer 7 wines (4 tastes for $15 + tax). I got the 2022 Sparkling Blanc de Noir wine from the highest vineyard in North America at 6800 ft near Delores, CO. Most European & California vineyards are much lower in elevation under 1500 ft. Very lively with smooth taste and small bubbles. Next was the 2023 Pinot Noir from the same elevation. A strong tannic rich wine. Next was the 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon from Box Car Vineyard near Cortez, CO. Much smoother red wine. My last taste was the 2022 Petit Verdot from southern Utah. The vineyard had been partially abandoned and Ordinary Fellow came in to manage/harvest the grapes. They produced only 70 cases and were down to 3 bottles. A red wine with more structure than the Cabernet. The soil is chalky providing a different growing environment but hotter than Box Car canyon in Colorado. So I bought 3 separate bottles (Sparkling, Cabernet Sauvignon and the Petit Verdot) and go my wine tasting for free. They can hold my wine to pickup Sun before I go back to Denver. They have wine clubs. Neil was my server and he knew each wine with details about growing environment and tasting notes. He made several recommendations + nearby food choices. read more

I honestly think this is one of the best wineries in Palisade! I love that the wines are on the dry side (even the trialing Riesling and rosè!). The bartender said the owners like to make the wine after the French variations, which to me explains why they are so good. I LOVED the rosè and cab sauv. I think the cab sauv was one of the better I've had in general, not just in palisade read more

This is a great tasting room located conveniently next to the brewery. The inside is super comfortable with a modern/hipster twist. It is very unpretentious and we felt comfortable stopping by after a hike. Most of the grapes aren't local, but the grapes they get make some really good wines. We did a tasting which we really enjoyed. They have a great patio with firepits when its cold. They also have food trucks outside sometimes. Any place that has misters outside to cool you down and something to keep your kids entertained is a win in my book. They claim to be a local winery, yet no grapes for the wine are even grown in Palisade. A large portion of their grapes aren't even grown in Colorado. The wines are bad. They do not even taste like the grape varietal should. Rochelle has no personality and is extremely socially awkward. read more

We came to town for my 30th birthday to explore the wineries that Palisade had to offer and The Ordinary Fellow was the perfect starting point for our touring adventure! Our group consisted of 15 people and the staff was well prepared when we arrived. The table was already set, the staff greeted us as we exited our vans and they were able to offer great knowledge of their wines as well as the future plan to take on Saki. We were immediately impressed by the indoor furniture and style choices as well as the attentive staff. Our tour guide at The Ordinary Fellow immediately made connections with us and used his personality to entertain us during the informative portion of our visit. The Ordinary Fellow also has unique, colorful, and creative bottles on top of a chill and warming environment. We are already hoping to come back once they produce Saki! read more
