They were well taken care of, exposed to different art mediums, and encouraged in their choice of artworks. I wish we could've had them in camp for more weeks, but we had a busy summer and filled their time with many activities throughout--this was just one of the best weeks they had, especially our son! At the end of the week, we were able to enjoy a folder filled with their lovely works! A treasure I'll keep forever :)

I appreciate the mixed-level classes as I can work independently but still get support when I need it. If you are familiar with the BonChon in Downtown Brooklyn, you will be near this place (so a hop and a skip from Albee square mall). Of the bar, I have to tell you that this place might not be accessible. Like many offices in NYC, the studio is on the top of a set of stairs (pictures below). So if you are in a wheelchair/need help walking, this might not be the place for you. The entrance also is radically different from the lounge itself so don't be too surprised. Inside the lounge is a nice cozy space. With a bunch of seats and different table sizes so you can do a project solo or as a part of a huge group. There is also art hanging on the walls for purchase. Since it was a Friday when I went, it was open studio, meaning that you could do whatever art project they had to offer as a self guided activity. For myself, I decided to do bead bar (beading) since open studio means that there isn't an instructor there to guide you. It went pretty smoothly and there was an adequate number of beads to choose from and I had the choice of making either two bracelets or a necklace (I chose the latter). My friends chose a bunch of other activities like charcoal drawing, watercolor painting and more. They are priced differently based on the activity you choose. On the weekdays, they have more class like workshops focusing on a specific topic like art journaling, watercolor workshop and more. I might do more of those because I like more direction in art things I'm not so good at. Overall, it was a fun time and something you can do by yourself or with a friend or a group.

It definitely took the pressure off being perfect the first time and made it so we could both go home with a piece we were satisfied with. They also have multiple colors that you can glaze with which is a nice touch. The instructor was also really helpful & patient. Can't wait to go back!

Went for the Sat night class for beginners and was looking forward to learning how to use a pottery wheel. It was definitely challenging, but I think I made a few things that I could've ended up saving? There wasn't quite enough hands-on help for me to know though. Turns out the we ended class 20 minutes early and I totally had enough time, but was feeling rushed since the teacher was calling out to finish and clean up. I had nothing to take home and will probably not spend another $85 to do a class again. Definitely go if you're interested in learning, but spend the time wisely and don't leave early if you want a nice handmade bowl to bring home!

The 2 hours whizzed by, and Jessie was really friendly and great and giving and showing instructions. She was also very patient with students' questions. The ornaments ended up being so cute from everyone, we were all thoroughly impressed by everyone's work. A lot of us, including me, didn't finish the entire project during class, so we got to take home the supplies we'd need to finish at home. Jessie made sure we had the supplies and knowledge/skills so that we'd succeed at home with finishing up. The studio is nice and cozy, there were about 16 participants of mixed genders and ages. It was really fun, and we can't wait to try more classes!

I was drawn to the flameworking class because of the thoughtful expression of how the instructor, Saint, described the process of working with borosilicate glass in their class. Truthfully, I was so blown away by it all. Urban Glass has a beautiful community based inclusivity spirit and artist centered focus. The studio was well organized and vast. The staff and technical support team are friendly and helpful. Saint's class had a wonderful pacing to it for a 6 hour workshop. We got to know all of the participants and connect together in a fun way, had a few informative demos on equipment safety and glass techniques, and then got to creating! Han, another glass artist at Urban Glass assisted the class, and it was really great to be able to explore making marbles, small figurines on our own and also have Saint and Han jump in when we needed a bit of extra hands on help. I felt confident from the demos and my practice time to be able to rent space on my own after. Our class has stayed in touch since, and I know several of us from the class have been back to the studio since to create. I'm excited to return to explore and learn more!

Would recommend a lesson for special occasions, and one of their classes if you want to go more regularly!
