I…read moretook in an abused, neglected dog and went broke paying for an emergency vet visit - so when she needed yet more veterinary attention not only couldn't I find any veterinarian within an hour of Bangor that was taking new clients and/or wasn't booking out MONTHS. Another emergency vet visit wasn't financially possible, I was devastated and desperate. When someone suggested a place in Cornville, ME I called Meadow Woods and they took the time, effort to find the soonest time they could see my dog. 2. The veterinarian that saw my dog had decades of experience. He made the experience the less frightening, etc as possible for my dog and came up with a treatment plan. 3. I was preparing myself for a large bill while checking out, then couldn't believe the amount I was charged for everything! I paid a fraction of what I'd have paid at any other vet clinic! Oh and they automatically filled the prescriptions the vet put my dog on, had them in labeled pill bottles and ready to go when I checked out! The visit fee, a rabies booster, a steroid injection, RX flea treatment, oral prednisone (steroid), oral antibiotics and a new pet charge...the total was just under $200!!!!!! My dog had been evaluated and treated by an emergency vet and a 'regular' vet, both did the same things which produced pretty limited results. At Meadow Woods the vet quickly stated that he was certain what was wrong and what my dog needed - and a matter of days later my dog wasn't in pain anymore, started healing and everything! Cornville is way out of the way for most Mainers. The drive there and back took us over 3 hours but it was DEFINITELY worth it. I'll be using Meadow Woods from now on.

Rick has been up all night checking in with me on multiple occasions when I was having issues with my pets. He's offered to come to me in the middle of the night in situations when he felt that it would be better not to move my pet and he's always given exemplary service. They are genuinely kind people. I will be very sad when he retires as there aren't many people like him left. I appreciate all of their work and they will go above and beyond to help you when you are in need. I've been taking my pets to Rick for the last 20 years and I've never had a single complaint.

We have been residents of Farmington for over 20 years. In the course of that time we have adopted…read more5 cats from the FCAS and they all became loving members of our household. This shelter is the best. They are a non-kill shelter and take tremendous care of their animals. The cats are housed in individual cages but are given free run of 2 rooms with cat trees, a sofa, and toys during the day on a rotating basis. Kittens have their own room. The dogs have indoor/outdoor runs. We visit sometimes just to get a "kitten fix." The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I could go on, but you get the idea! They work on a tight budget so donations are welcome. We give every year and get to have our names on a kitty cage. Just a plug for a great small town shelter!!

Moki is 11 now and suffers from arthritis, but still loves to be super active and get out and play. I was away out of town for one long weekend with my boyfriend and we asked Brandy to take Moki for a hilly hike and I couldn't have asked for better care. Brandy was meticulous making sure she had all of Moki's essentials before they left. She put together a little care package with water, snacks, poop bags, leash and of course Moki's favorite ball. Brandy was also very careful about what type of meds Moki might need in case she was sore when she came back and we discussed Moki's favorite way to take her meds too. You could really tell Brandy had lots of prior experience as a Vet Tech the way she was so systematic about it all. However, the special bond Brandy formed with my dog after only meeting her for such a short while before we had to leave and go out of town was really the most impressive thing of all. Brandy really loves animals and she has a special way about her that makes them respond very positively to her too. I couldn't believe how attached Moki was to Brandy when we got back and also how good Moki looked with no limping or soreness even though they had gone for a pretty long hard hike together, as per my request. Brandy said that she had even given Moki a little mini doggy massage on her back legs, which was wonderful. Moki seemed so happy that she had gotten to get out still even though Mom and Dad had to go away for the weekend. Brandy provided exactly the type of service I am looking for in a pet sitter. I wouldn't want to give anything less to our family's fuzzy best friend.

Angie did a wonderful job at showing us a lot of great training activities we can do at home. She also explained her methods thoroughly and gave us tips on what commands are appropriate for different behaviors. We are very happy with how our training session went and will do our best to be consistent with continuing the training at home, but won't hesitate to call for another session if needed!

I have been taking my cat to this facility for over 10 years. I took my cat in every year for an…read moreannual checkup and rabies shot, (she is an avid hunter). Last year their rates more than doubled from about $100.00 to around $230.00 for the same service. I paid their fee last year and that was my last visit. Being on a fixed income I just couldn't afford to pay their exorbitant fees. I put in an online order for a prescription flea and tick topical solution yesterday. This topical solution contains medication to alleviate tapeworm as well. My cat is prone to this due to all the rodents she eats. I received a call this morning from a representative of Moosehead Trail Vets office to inform me that because my cat missed her annual appointment, they could not prescribe the flea and tick medication. There was no appointment made (by the way). I initially ordered the med from Moosehead Trail Vet, then I saw that the same med was almost $15.00 cheaper at Tractor Supply. I cancelled the order from the vets office and made the request from Tractor Supply. The vet didn't even respond to Tractor Supply's request; they just called me with the denial. In summary, Moosehead Trail Veterinary Hospital doesn't really care about the welfare of your pet, it's that almighty dollar they care about. I take back the kind words I wrote of this facility last year, if I could give a no star rating, that's what they would receive from me. Don't be fooled by the smiles and phony caring attitude.
