I work for this company as a dog walker…read more A service for people who are out all day, or who simply don't have the time to give their dogs the exercise they need. Dog walks are for an hour at a time, usually Monday to Friday. Some people do book just for one day a week, or for two times a day. Evening, early morning and weekend walks also catered for. For instance, I've done a two hour walk on a Sunday for an owner with a dog that needed it! Dog walkers can hold keys if you will not be in when they pick the dog up. Your dog's needs are catered for: it may be let off the lead or not, given treats or not, according to your wishes. Though we do sometimes walk dogs from different households together, it's only if the owner is happy with that, and usually only a couple at once. Walkers are insured and police records checked. As the company has a number of dog walkers on the books they can usually provide cover should the usual walker be unavailable. If you are interested in working for this company: it's run by the same lovely woman as Cat Care London. It's a nice, friendly company. Payment is monthly and prompt. Not going to make you rich, but better than the dole. Dog walking can be done as a nine to five, five days a week job, however a high level of commitment is demanded. You can't just take a sickie on impulse when a live animal may suffer as a result. It's also a physically demanding job which will mean walking and being out in all weathers for long hours. And you need to be confident handling dogs of all types and sizes: I definitely wouldn't recommend it for someone who doesn't like dogs. You do have to pick up their poo in public

My dog likes to look fresh…read more Haha, not really. If it were up to her she'd let herself resemble Pigpen, would roll around in dirt and feces, and would generally look like she'd just been through a forage in the forest. However, as an apartment dog...this is not acceptable. She is a shorthaired lady, so she doesn't need the particular cut, but every few months she does need a deep down brushing, scrub and nail trim (something about trimming another beings nails terrifies me)...and thus we search for her spa. Easier said than done in East London! But I finally found Groom Dog City and I am quite pleased with the output. It's in a little shop near Haggerston/Columbia Market, they took my appointment quickly, the staff was very nice (both the owner and the assistant), and 45 minutes later I returned and was gifted back a dog that looked to be much cleaner and about 4 bales of hair lighter. Win. Reasonably priced too! For the works on my type of dog (again, no cutting/trimming required) for bath, eyes, ears, nails, brushdown -- about £25. I also left a tip because I have to believe this is thankless work giving spa treatments to animals who do not wish to be pampered. If they only knew! They even returned her to me with a little bow. I'll be visiting again next time she starts to resemble a vagabond... *appointments easily made online (he called me back right away). *there are a few shop dogs, word to the wise. I mentioned my dog wasn't so nice with other dogs she doesn't know, and they easily blocked them off. I'm sure my dog was still a nervous wreck, but there is a price to beauty and to coexisting with humans, Tillie.
