The owners of this venue are simply adorable. I ran a sandwich food challenge on the Nexdoor app and I reviewed a few sandwich shops recommended to check out. The Pastrami Shop was roughly 7 miles from home, so it was worth the short drive. The place is right off Sunset and Whitney Blvd in Rocklin. It's a very small place so ordering to go is popular. But if you find a seat, definitely enjoy the local vibe of the regulars and talk with the owners for a bit. They really are passionate about their business, and serving their customers. I really enjoyed my half hot pastrami classic sandwich. The bread was toasted, mustard, provolone, and a side of pickles and jalapeños. Boy was it good! I really should have had the full size. Give er a shot if you're in the neighborhood. You won't regret it. I'll definitely stop by again. Loved it. read more

I'm truly at a loss for words in describing this place. Perhaps 'basic' might be most appropriate. Let's first say that when I walked inside I nearly immediately turned around to walk out. The general look and atmosphere is off-putting. It seems devoid of product, somewhat disheveled and disorganized and lacking any substantive character. The place appears very 'long in the tooth', and no food products were evident anywhere. Added to it, no customers, yet some came later. Yet, I was hungry and stayed. To be honest, glad I did. They sell essentially one thing-PASTRAMI, and that's it. Well, indeed true to the restaurant name. Again, everything is basic! I opted for a Classic Pastrami Sandwich and was given the option for bread, I chose a soft roll, and provolone for cheese, plus mustard. At $22. for a sandwich, well, I had some hesitation. The place is apparently owned and run by a charming older couple who really are out to please, very friendly and congenial. I felt like I fell into an old Russian Jewish deli on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, no frills. Basic, but good food! OK, the Pastrami and the entire sandwich were AMAZING! The quality of the meat was top notch and quite good, probably some of the best around. The sandwich was HUGE and enough for two meals. I was offered peppers on the side and it was perfect for me to add some. The sandwich was nicely warmed/toasted, the cheese melted perfectly and it wasn't a difficult messy thing to eat as are many more upscale sandwiches and burgers these days. So, in the end it was worth it. The sandwich was indeed a surprise and excellent. Plus, they checked after I bit into it to be certain I was satisfied, with a smile. I got some chips and a drink and ate it there. Plenty of napkins were provided. Located in a rather funky 1960s shopping mall it's small, not that easy to find yet parking seems OK. Albeit it somewhat pricey the food is very good and the value is there. If you want Pastrami then this is the place. They sell bulk packages of it too. Try it. Found this place a bit by accident, and we're glad we did. House made pastrami was delicious. They talked me into getting mine on the house baked french roll instead of my tradition go-to of rye bread and it was excellent. They also make their own Russian dressing for their Reuben sandwich. The full size sandwich is big, split it with someone or get the half size. Or be hungry. This isn't a deli, you won't find things like turkey sandwiches. The bread used for their sandwiches is freshly baked bread like an Italian roll or sliced rye bread. We went with the Classic Pastrami on a toasted Italian roll with mustard, cherry peppers, and provolone cheese. They also sell UTZ chips, which are based out of Hanover, Pennsylvania, and predominantly in the East Coast. The sandwich was nice and hot. There was a good amount of pastrami in the sandwich. The sandwich was good, but the pastrami seemed to lack some flavor and was a bit dry. Don't get me wrong, I love a good Pastrami with the seasonings, black pepper, and the juiciness from the rendered fat. But, they are advertising lean beef pastrami, so what do i know!?! I used to be a STRICT hot pastrami on rye, but after 85 years, I converted at the first bite of the barbecue and provolone pastrami, on a scrumptious home baked Italian roll. Needed something to eat but there's not a whole lot of places around here, (you will know once you show up here). It's a small little place, I ordered a BBQ pastrami sandwich. I have to say it's one of the best pastrami sandwiches I've ever had. Menu is simple, it pushes the full sandwich size, but you have to ask for a half, because even that is hard to finish. Mine was labeled BBQ however it was more on the spicy side. Only thing I would change is add more bbq sauce, unless the sauce comes like that already. I enjoyed it thoroughly, half way through I felt maybe it's getting a bit spicy. Little bit more cheese would take the spice away, I think.
