I always buy their pasties to munch on for lunch in a hurry. Put simply, I love every one of their pies, each one having that succulent and meaty filling, freshly baked and at reasonable prices. Sometimes their pasties are cold after lying around for a while but usually they are at least warm. I'm not a lover of sandwiches or cakes but they do sell a wide range of buns, drinks, crisps, and butties in addition to the named. If you're lucky enough to visit at the right time, you can get hot baguettes with various fillings - I'm not a big fan but for others, they seem quite popular. If I were to buy a cake, then I would suggest the lemon muffin - it has a nice moist sponge and has a crunchy top. Greggs is the place to go for satisfying fast-served lunch. You can't go wrong with a good ole steak or chicken pasty.

They also sell some less appetizing foodstuffs; congealing pizza slices and sweet versions of pretzels (which were like big, toughened donuts and not all that great) but for pretzels I dare you find better in Liverpool. In fact, it was another German classic of pretzel shaped bread which I bought for just £1 and it was sure yummy. I would take the pizza flavour any time. The pretzel could have been warmer but it was just as nice cold. I would definitely go back again to try some of their toasties and flatbread pizzas, especially the chicken curry flavour which sounds so mouth-watering!

The prices are quite steep but the quality is really good, and worth the extra few quid. Also, delivery is available throughout the whole of the UK so don't worry if you're visiting Liverpool and find your perfect cake, but your wedding is down South.

And it would be in the shape of the Death Star. It would probably be the most expensive cake in the shop but you have but one birthday/anniversary/Christmas a year. Sadly there is a premium to be paid for such extensive choice and individuality and just a glance through the window here will reveal that although detailed and handsome the cakes are hardly cheap. Everything is baked in house at Cuthberts Bakehouse and they have cute teacups and saucers, which we knew his grandparents would appreciate -- a saucer is mandatory with their teacup! We ordered 3 Classic Afternoon Teas, 1 New York Afternoon Tea and 1 Vegetarian Afternoon Tea for the 5 of us (my husband's mom joined us as well). The portions here are pretty big, but its weighted toward the desserts. Each afternoon tea comes with a scone on top, the middle layer has freshly baked treats, and the bottom layer is savory bites. As a group we sampled from all of the afternoon teas. I liked the burger in the New York Afternoon Tea a lot and the fries which came in both the Veggie NY and NY tea. I prefer savory bites, so those were great. For the desserts, I liked the chocolate covered strawberry and the fudge bite. My grandpa-in-law loved the almond cake and my grandma-in-law loved the Victoria sponge cake. I have some dietary requirements as the moment, so there was several things I couldn't eat unfortunately, but everything did look good, but I couldn't try that many items ultimately. I guess I'll have to return! My favorite part of the afternoon tea experience was the unlimited teas, coffees and hot chocolates! How cool! I tried several loose leaf teas including the Chai, Peppermint, Berry (which was my favorite), and the Jasmine. I also tried the Dark Hot Chocolate.
