After a lot of morning excitement about going to Liverpool for the weekend, I quickly realised we'd made a mistake - going somewhere which didn't serve food until at least 3pm and not eating anything but a croissant that morning. With 30 minutes until we had to meet our AirBnB host and pick up the keys, we decided that there was only one thing for it; a pasty.
There are a few options of where to eat at Lime Street Station (Upper Crust, Burger King, Marks & Spencer, that pub above Marks & Spencer) but The Pasty Shop stood out to us. We shared a cheese and onion pasty as we didn't want to ruin our appetite for later on and it was - much to my surprise - really tasty!
The pastry was super thick around the edges, basically the main reason I was happy to have a pasty, and the filling was rich and sprinkled with a little bit of black pepper.
Service was friendly and I'd have little hesitation going back next time I need a pre or post-travel snack. read more
