I let my dog, Toby, splurge on a shopping spree when we were last in the area, and he picked out his favorite toy of all time, what I have christened his "Scare Bear" ™ Toby, a black lab, great pyrenees, terrier, hound mix was seen all around Fall Fest this year, with Scare Bear in his mouth. He brought it home to Chicago with us, and he sleeps with it, goes on walks with it, and sits it next to him on the chair or the couch. Toby is almost six years old, and this is his first ever toy that he hasn't even attempted to destroy in some way. It's a true comfort item, and he picked it out himself! Toby does some volunteer search and rescue work, and loves to help people and animals in between roughhousing with Mommy and other dogs and running around like a crazy man. He used his Scare Bear to comfort an older gentleman who was having a hard time walking at Peninsula State Park, and he even offered the guy Scare Bear for comfort as he walked the man back to the parking lot. Thanks so much to Door County Dog Store for making my Toby such a happy young man!

He no longer cries when he is left although he much prefers to be scruffy dog and I am so pleased that I know he is loved and cared about. This year Scott is no longer working with Kathy and her very pregnant assistance had to leave prior to our appointment to pick up her sick child. Kathy did ok with the first dog but really didn't put much time or effort into what seemed to her the chore of buffing out his nails. I left it go until she started with our second dog who she felt necessary to hog tie. Our poor girls was not comfortable an Kathy continued to try and pluck her ears. I stood up and could see she had our poor babie's neck torked out and told her to stop! Being I had brought the dogs here on other occasions I thought she would be skilled and professional to know when to stop if an animal was being hurt. Kathy said, "well, I can't have her scratching me up so we are done!" Albeit a little late as our girl was coughing as she came off the table. I checked her and found her left eye was bleeding internally. I asked her where I could find a vet to have her looked at and her response was "I'm not paying for it!" In a very defensive reaction. My concern at the time was for the well being of my dog. She only seemed worried about herself. This is all fresh as of yesterday 7/19/2016 and my girl is still under observation for other signs of physical damage. Both her left and right eye have internal bleeding in the upper membrane. She required a shot of Prednisone, eye drops 3X daily and the vet recommended she be on Benadryl twice daily. I will address the vet bills with her again but may need to take legal action.

Within minutes of arriving my dog was given shots and the doctor was explaining the bee allergy protocol.  Dr. Billett and staff were attentive, kind, and patient with all my questions. I was very impressed with the level of care and would happily recommend Peninsula Veterinary Hospital to friends, family, or anyone visiting Door County.

A few weeks ago she came to check out our three dogs, give them shots, check their condition, examine some limping by a hyper two-year old golden. The dogs relaxed with her, ok -- she is handy with treats -- and she took time to observe them. When our 13-year old shepherd had trouble breathing a few weeks later, she was ready to to meet us on less than an hour's notice, referred us to specialists, reviewed X-rays, gave a referral to Appleton and several weeks later came within an hour of our call to put our wonderful dog down. Dr. Deb is smart, compassionate, knows her medicine (my partner ran pet stores, works with the Humane Society and is not nearly as ignorant as I am in these areas) and a delight for dogs and their owners. She is great.
