I go to this pizza joint regularly and it's always been a nice experience but this one particular time I found it to be extremely disappointed. I was served by a light skin male with a fro and a single golden hoop earring. Very tall and skinny. I think his name is Elijah, he never introduced himself we had to read it off the receipt.Initially he took a long time to give us our drinks then we had a 45 min notice that our food has been burnt (it was NOT busy ! Officially the worst pizza I've ever had. It was burnt, so no chance of eating the crust. So I thought I'd just peel the cheese off n eat that. Nope. It was hard n dry too. The sauce was gross. My family of 4 usually eats an entire pizza, but after we took a slice each, n took a bite each, our dogs had 4 slices of pizza. The rest went in the trash. Never again... My honey and I placed an order for takeout. He was craving" the Hawaiian" and I "the big one". The Hawaiian had ham and pineapple while the big one had toppings such as beef, pepperoni, green peppers, black olives, mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. We compromised and ordered half of each on a 20" pie. We took it home and poured a glass of wine ready to enjoy pizza date night with a few redbox movies. So onto the taste factor. I picked up "the big one" and took a huge bite. The flavours were nice, but there was too much dough to my liking. Born and raised in New York I have had my fill of various pizzas and the crust and cheese ratio need to be equalized. I then moved onto "the Hawaiian" slice and the saltiness of the cheese and ham counterbalanced the sweetness of the pineapple. I thoroughly enjoyed that slice the most. If you are looking for a place that has a good beer selection and you want to stay away from downtown, this is the place I would recommend going. They have recommended combinations of beers a few times as well, which I like. The first recommendation was Pumking and a cider beer (let me preface this by saying I don't normally like cider beer and am in LOVE with Pumking) and the combination was delicious! I've gone back to order it several times. The second one they call Banana Blue and it's the Banana Nut Bread beer and SweetWater Blue and it tastes like blueberry cobbler! I usually tend to order the same thing every time I go and that's the spinach and feta calzone (add tomatoes) and it's been good every time! I like that you can order by the slice, even with the specialty pizzas at any time. I ordered two slices and didn't even touch the second one, because of how big the slices are. read more

Score a 56 of the health inspection and when the issue was commented on by multiple people on Facebook, instead of taking accountability they just deleted comments and blocked users who dare point out how nasty they are. I have experienced bad service here in the past. Came in at 10:00 on a Saturday and seated immediately. Ordered 20" specialty pizza and beers for two. We were served our drinks promptly and pizza about 30 minutes after ordering. The pizza was delicious and we were checked on by our waitress several times before and after being served our food. Good service even close to closing time! Great place for beer in Evans! The Evans location has ~50 taps, and about 12 of them are local craft beers. The one I wanted was out.. but still on the menu. Pizza Joint has great atmosphere and drink specials during the week, highlighted by "beer me Tuesday" where all of their 50+ drafts are discounted. Coming to the pizza joint hungry is always a bad idea. You usually have to wait a really long time on your waitress and I've been served COLD PIZZA on several occasions. My drink usually takes twenty minutes to hit the table after ordering. There aren't any gluten free options and almost every other pizza place in Augusta HAS gluten free pizza. I have a gluten allergy and I can't eat here unless I get a salad or wings (which aren't bad). The only salad I ever enjoy is caesar, which they don't provide. All you need is caesar dressing!!! BAM caesar salad. They don't have french fries even though the frozen ones are super cheap and they HAVE A DEEP FRYER! The service is ALMOST ALWAYS very slow and you seldom get a speedy waitress. I do enjoy often enjoy the small selection of two gluten free ciders. Also, you guys should bring the fish tank back. It's been out of service with brown paper covering it for a little over a year now. If you do go and you're looking to get a pizza or draft beer GO ON TUESDAY! Step up your game Pizza Joint!! Pretty good pizza. Giant slices. Thin ny style crust. On the expensive side but i think its worth it on occasion. I had the beef and mushroom. In csra i still prefer mellow mushroom but this place is a good alt to the traditional pizzeria. Wont blow you away but will fill you up and satisfy you. read more

Didn't know Fettuccine Alfreda with chicken was a microwaved butter soup with a little cheese somewhere in there. Everything was covered in salt and the entrees came out before the appetizers. Went there for lunch yesterday, had bruschetta and two slices of pizza. Bruschetta came out pretty quick, but it took over 40 minutes for the two slices of pizza to come out. Slices were huge and tasted ok! But when it only takes 10 to 15 minutes to make a whole pie it should not take 40 for 2 slices! Being your advertising as a ny pizza place, and me living in ny for 38 years a pizza place wouldn't last back home if it took 40 minutes for 2 slices! Only have been here once and had slices rather than a pizza pie so this review is based on sliced pizza. My pizza slice was not fresh and looked old. The cheese was disgusting looking. It was served warm but yuck. I did have the garlic knots and they are pretty good. The marinara that came with the knots was too runny and watered down. The beer selection isn't too bad and they do serve wine. A plus is that they do have military discount. The service was slow and not particularly good (we had to ask multiple times for silverware and napkins, and we were sitting there for perhaps half and hour before she even took our drink order), and the server was not communicating well with the kitchen so we received inaccurate information. A fun local place to eat with friendly staff. The large pizza (which is a massive NY style pie) is always perfectly done and very yummy. However, anytime we've gotten a smaller size they are always a little burned. It's like they can only cook the large to perfection. My kids can't scarf down a large, and I'm not splitting just their boring cheese pizza. That leaves me taking home massive amounts of leftovers. Fix your ovens! Came here for a gathering with friends for dinner today after a year hiatus from Pizza Joint due to an absolutely horrible experience. The pizza dough was still dry, cheese still rubbery, and sauce all dried up and caked to the pizza, absolutely no liquidity to it. The food is fine, but very overpriced. Mellow Mushroom price without the high quality. The service and cleanliness was questionable. There was a birthday party and they were allowed to make very loud noise and pop bubble wrap on the floor for a few minutes, disrupting the whole restaurant. I recently moved to Evans Ga and drive by The Pizza Joint several times thru the week. I Love my Pizza and have for over 40 years. The lot was always crowded so thought it must be good then! We got there early as was a Friday night and the restaurant was so hot upon walking in. We had to change our table and I walked around to see where it was cool enough to eat. It was not; and I told our waiter same and picked a table under a fan. My pizza came out and could only eat two pieces as the rest was burnt on the bottom. We also got spaghetti and meatballs and way to much basil in the sauce and was overpowering. Only consumed 25 % of it and did not take anything to go. The waiter was Fantastic the whole time and the owner took 20 % off the bill but it was way to late for that. Could not wait to get out of there and in my air conditioned car. This used to be a really good, easy going yet proffessional establishment to get a few slices of pizza. However these last few visits really turned me off. I was a very big fan of Evans Pizza Joint for most of my life. With each pizza's quality ingredients, crispy crust, and delicious sauce, it was a joy to save up a little bit of money to be able to walk there and order a 20" pie. That is all in the past now, what used to take about 40 minutes to have ordered and eaten the pizza now takes 10 minutes to get your drinks after ordering them, and 50 ENTIRE minutes to just get my pizza, which was barely even warm, and it tasted like cardboard but couldn't even imitate cardboard because it was already soggy. The pizza here is slowly becoming like their competitors, soggy, tasteless, and quite honestly a complete waste of a full hour without a meal and $40 for a pie and two drinks... The wait service was intolerable behind the counter, being loud and obnoxious, making fun of other customers, scathing sarcasm over the simplest requests. Phone usage when so blatantly on the job. There needs to be some management changes, because this place is falling apart at the seems. An attitude adjustment for the kitchen and wait staff is in order to have an efficient, delicious pizza making machine like this place used to be. read more

Came here last night because I heard there was a large draft beer list. I first asked for a seasonal beer. Didn't have it. Decided to just go with a Boston Lager. I was brought the wrong beer 15 min later and they didn't have the beer my friend ordered either. He orders something else and I wait for what I ordered. 20 min later the waitress comes back to tell me something is "wrong with the line" and that beer isn't available either. In the mean time I had a $5 order of garlic knots that were mediocre at best. After being there close to an hour I decided I was over trying to get a beer and I asked for my garlic knots to be comped. She said no, but also never made any attempt to remedy the fact that they were out of the two beers I ordered and also gave me the wrong one. Customer service was seriously lacking here. And I'm not a picky or high maintenance customer. Never again. read more

Their food is amazing! Unfortunately, the service absolutely sucks. Every time I have been there, they have not been busy, and I have still had to wait at least two hours to get food, including the time I was with a friend who ordered one slice of pizza and got that slice of pizza well after I received my calzone. Unacceptable. When you dine with other people, the expectation is that you will be able to enjoy your food together and not watch each other eat your food one at a time. The manager was unapologetic and somehow thought that bringing two diners' food out an hour apart was decent timing. We now joke that if we want to eat there, we need to not be hungry when we arrive so that when we receive our food two hours after we order, we will be ready to eat. read more

They have wonderful pizza. And contrary to what many are saying, its not the wait staff I have ever had issue with. Its the pathetic kitchen and managements cop-out sign saying "everything is fresh and takes time" ONE SLICE OF CHEESE PIZZA DOES NOT TAKE FORTY MINUTES. I have worked in and out of the restaurant business for many years and the fact that no manager had the guts or decency to walk around apologizing for their inability to cook a few simple pieces of pie is unforgivable. We arrived at 6:15. we left at nearly 8:00. Nearly two whole hours. We ordered at around 6:30 and got one piece right away. Then were made to wait for an hour for two more slices. When we were leaving we received the rest of our order. One of our party left. Our waitress apologized over and over (again, not her fault if the kitchen doesn't know what they are doing) and actually of her own free will paid for his meal. While I applaud the effort she made it only served to hammer a point home. Where was the manager in all of this. It is he or she who should be telling me sorry and paying for the mans meal. Not my waitress. Our poor waitress having to apologize to us for something that isn't her fault is simply sad. And their "it takes time" sign is laughable. When we first started going there a couple of years ago pizza came out lighting fast and service was impeccable. It was a joy to go their with friends and family, I used to brag about how great it was. Now, quite simply its terrible. Now we are told "it takes time" No. No it doesn't. And if it's slow in their restaurant. I should have all my stuff in under ten minutes. I have made pizzas in pizza ovens before. It takes zero time. A sign telling me to wait is a slap in the face and the only "sign" it is of, is poor management. It was not that busy when we went. What, I wonder do they do on a Friday night? Hope for the best? Does a manager come out and offer help then? I think everyone is being entirely to polite with there reviews. Sadly, I doubt I will be returning to Pizza Join in Evans. I can only hope that location in downtown Augusta has more to offer. And if I do return to the Evans location then I sincerely hope that the experience is far better than it had been. I loathe having to ask to speak with management. A customer should NEVER have to ask to speak with one. They should be there for the customer themselves. Save yourself the hours of pain and hunger and go somewhere else. Or least purchase some McDonald's before showing up. Great atmosphere for adults or kids.... the huge aquarium in the middle of this fairly open "warehouse" like restaurant is facinating for young and old alike. The ironwork that extends throughout the interior and exterior of the Pizza Joint is out of this world, there's a lot of real artistic craftsmanship and countless hours of work in the ironwork. What I love most about this casual place is the selection of beer.... they have dozens of beers ON TAP which is VERY COOL! They have beer ON TAP that you can't even find in the local liquer stores. I recommend the DELICIOUS CALZONES. Personally I like the feta and spinach,and I always ask for some sausage thrown in.
