Wish this were closer with easier parking. Legit good pizza with a nice thin crust. Parking is crazy and difficult, but this New York style thin crust pizza is surprisingly worth it. This reminds me of what Amicis used to be. Staff was friendly, and prices are reasonable.

Best NY pizza I've ever had. Thin, crispy, flavorful. There's love in the pizza sauce. I travel across the bay for this

If you're in the neighborhood and looking for a solid local spot, this is a great go-to for a quick slice or a whole pie at a decent price. The pizza itself isn't necessarily "fancy" or anything too special, but it has that really crispy, thin crust that I love and it's definitely my personal favorite texture. One thing to note is that it isn't very saucy and can be a bit on the dry side, but honestly, it kind of feels nostalgic to me in a way. It reminds me kind of state fair pizza in some ways, so I actually enjoyed it. The vibe is super chill and perfect for a casual lunch or a late-night craving. Definitely a reliable spot to have in your rotation if you're a fan of a thinner, crunchier slice!

Stopped by to grab a quick bite with a friend. You pick the pizza slices at the counter and they heat them up for you. You can add cheese, red pepper, and other seasonings to your liking by the pick-up counter. I had fun with the pinball machine. The pizza were flavorful and had a nice bite to them. I will need to stop by to try some other options.

~Yummy~ Thin crust, crispy, New York slices of pizza with many options for toppings! Service is fast! There is some seating inside. I really like the cherry pepper and pesto!

This is the spot for NY-Style pizza slice in the Mission. Under $5 , thin, and crisp. I really enjoyed this slice. Their "best slice in the city" sign lives up to the message.

Made a point to check this place out. We ordered a couple of slices, good but not super flavorful. Slice House and Outasight are better. Restaurant was nice, clean, spacious and the service was great.

Great slices! I love to stop here before I work at my bar shift. They have a variety of meat or veggie slices. Staff is always nice.

I was in town for business and my busy morning wrapped up in the Mission District. My hunger called for something quick and satisfying, but didn't quite feel like Mexican food, as the Mission is known for. Came across the Pizza Shop and was exactly what I wanted. Luckily, it was 2 short blocks away from where I parked, so I walked, since parking is an issue around here. Upon entering, I was quickly greeted. Their pizza choices are labeled and on display in a glass case facing the entrance, which made it easy for a first time customer. The interior is slightly dated but cool, and fits very well into the neighborhood. It's spacious for a by-the-slice place. There are several booths and some smaller tables. I got 2 slices: the Meat, and a pepperoni and mushroom. They heated the slices and were ready in a few minutes. The crust came out thin and crispy, and both filled my empty belly with that greasy, salty goodness. The service was friendly, the food came fast. I was satisfied and ready to take in the rest of the crazy day.

Best pizza I've had in a while. Great staff with smiles and accommodating. Plenty of seating. Great place to swing by for a quick bite.

My favorite pizza in SF. Originally from Chicago and enjoy my thin crust pizza. This place know what they are doing. The dough is perfectly crispy at the bottom. The sauce has a touch of sweetness but also tangy. Anytime I crave pizza I come here. The cherry pesto is my favorite but this time went a little wild and got the deluxe. They are very generous with toppings which is a big plus, and slices are very big! We usually order take out but the place does have seating and sells pizza by the slice.

The pizza was hot (wait a lil for it to cool down before you eat, or your tongue will suffer) but yeah.... quality pizza, good selection. Good fast, service, nice ambiance as well. Would recommend

We stopped by for a small afternoon snack. Plenty of cool booths inside to sit at and down the slice we got. The crust was good and had crisp, but the pizza was really lacking flavor. Not sure how to describe it, maybe there literally just wasn't enough sauce or salt in the sauce/cheese/toppings? Good after we douse in some chili flakes and parmesan, but obviously not ideal. Overall, just an ok slice. Good for a snack, but don't come out of your way to come here.

    Slice of the moment!

Especially given that we were bringing in our own birthday cake to have and share among our friends that night. We got five different pizzas, and the four-cheese one was the fan favorite between us all. Definitely would recommend either a date night here or a night out with friends if you're in the area.

Service was generally polite but a bit sparse given how busy it was. I specifically asked whether the kids' pizzas were small personal sizes or large enough to share, and was told they were personal-sized. Unfortunately, we ended up with more food than we could realistically finish and essentially paid for a pizza that went to waste, which was frustrating. The food itself didn't quite meet expectations based on the reviews. One of our pizzas also came out slightly undercooked, but the kids were too tired for us to send it back and wait for a remake, so we just made do. Overall, the experience was just okay, especially compared to other pizza spots we tried during our trip. After visiting places like Tony's, which we loved, this one fell short for us. The restaurant was busy and had a decent energy, and others may have a better experience depending on timing. For us, though, it's not a place we'd return to.

It was my favorite for 50 years until a couple weeks ago when I ordered a delivery of Gioia. Wow. I stayed over in The City again this past weekend and had Gioia delivered again Saturday. I designed my own pizza with a Margherita Pizza base and then added pepperoni, Calabrian chilis, and anchovy on the side...well done/crispy. The roasted tomatoes are key...depth of flavor, umami-heaven. I'm a pain in the ass, so I call to make sure my pizza is made to spec. The staff, led by Kait, is unparalleled in their willingness to help. I just cannot recommend Gioia enough. I wish there were one in the 925, but Berkeley is as close to my home as a Gioia is based so far. I've not had a pie from Berkeley, but I believe Gioia is completely committed to maintaining the quality of their pizza. Nothing else comes close IMO. I know there's no zealot like a convert...but I'm not just being a fan boy. Oh yeah...the arugula-avocado salad is YUM, and the dressing for it like crack. DO not forget to check the box for utensils. I did not...California is a request the utensils state...and that's how I know how committed Gioia is to customer service: Kait, CALLED ME today after she'd heard I was frustrated. I can't imagine a customer not being thrilled with Gioia.

Everything about this slice felt fresh, high-quality, and delicious, and it didn't feel overly heavy (though I did feel the need to blot some of the olive oil off the top). JULIAN PIZZA (5/5) I got a slice of the JULIAN, with house-made sausage, kale, and lots of other good stuff. The sausage was some of the best sausage I've had on a pizza, and there was a generous amount of it. The kale seemed like it was fried (possibly naturally in the oven after all that olive oil was drizzled on top) so it added a great textural element. I would 100% come back to try some other flavors.

I get it. But hear me out. The XL pizzas at 20 inches are a real extra large, nothing like those precious little artisan cuts you get at a lot of SF pizza spots. I've had the Combo Americano and the Traditional Pepperoni and Italian Sausage and both have been outstanding. Chances are you're walking away with leftovers, so the math starts making more sense when you think about it that way. Fair warning to your delivery driver, a 20 inch box is no joke to navigate, but it arrives intact and holds up remarkably well for delivery. That alone says something about the quality. And do yourself a favor, tip them a little extra for hauling something this large to your door. Is it as special as sitting down at Tony's in North Beach with a fresh pie in front of you? Probably not. But it's the closest thing you can get without actually being there, and that's saying a lot. They do have an antipasto menu, but I have to be honest, who goes to a famous pizza place and doesn't order pizza? If you want to impress someone with what San Francisco has to offer in the pizza department and you're willing to splurge for a guaranteed great meal, this is your answer. No gambles, no disappointments. Just really good pizza at your door. For $60 you already know what you're getting, and that peace of mind is worth something too.

Moral of the story - always check your pizza box before leaving because the staff may be prone to mistakes. Unfortunately, we ended up paying $55+ plus tip for 4 mediocre slices of pizza.
