The staff is ill prepared to accommodate guests as it did not seem to be on their agenda. Stopped in for lunch while in New Haven. We got the California burger with fries and the southern quesadilla. The burger was tasty and packed with lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole and sunny side egg. The fries were terrible. The quesadilla was filled with sausage, bacon eggs and jalapenos, it was ok. The server was very nice. I think this place is for the drinks. The restaurant and the food is very cute and picturesque. However, the service was severely lacking considering there was little to no customers. Took forever to get our food and in addition to that after ordering the first time waiter had to come back to tell us that there was "no waffle mix" so 2/3 of us had to re check the menu in order to order new items. I've heard a lot of good things about this place but was let down. Maybe it's the location? But I will start with the good. You can order by scanning a QR and are able to flip a little card on the table to get your waiters attention so that was nice for people who don't want to wait long. The atmosphere was chill and fun. There was an upstairs maybe that's where all the pics I've seen are from because the bottom was nothing crazy just a basic set up, maybe some bright coloring. It is Tiny inside the bottom floor also so I can't say for upstairs. They did make great looking fun drinks. We popped in for dinner so I ordered a BYO cheeseburger and it came out wrong. First off I'm not sure if this place is trying to be "club" like because it definitely comes off that way. Service was odd with the customer having to put up a card to get service. Which is fine but the service was not doing their part. They were nice though and the manager was attentive a bit as well. So maybe they just opened. The food was okay. Nothing exciting and also our order was wrong. The eggs didn't have cheese in them and our side of guacamole was missing. No butter for the bread is an odd accident. Asked for that afterwards. When it came out it just looked messy and a little lackluster. The drink also just tasted like a regular coffee with piece of walnut tossed into the drink. The entire burger just tasted like pickled cabbage and the chicken patty was thin and tasted nothing like nashville hot chicken. It was just a tiny chicken patty that was smeared in hot sauce. My niece was in NH and she wanted to meet for lunch. I suggested "The Pace 2B." It was a little after 12pm, so we met up and went inside and the first thing I saw two skeletons and one yellow duck sitting on the bench across from hostess station. To make a long story short, the lattes were not great, you need to ask for sweetener. The espresso shot was drip coffee. I ordered a garden salad with Italian dressing, it was okay until I saw the lettuce was brown. I also ordered the mad macaroni and cheese burger with bacon and all the fixings. When it came out it look popping but as I looked at it, the burger was dry and cheese and Mac was cold like the burger. I was ready to munch that burger down. So the whole meal was a wash! My niece asked for the manager and she came out straight faced no apologies and let my niece tell our situation. She listened and just said, " you all are go and thank you. I thought she would offer us something else on the menu. We were not ready to leave but, okay! I would have love to stayed and tried something else but I think I'm good for now. Very nice place inside and upstairs must be where they hold their events. The outside needs to be cleaned and the vines hanging on the outside needs to be fixed. When ordering it was required to pick an alcohol and he chose Jameson. For $21.00 it was a small drink. With both types of alcohol it was at least strong. We ordered a build your own omelette with cheddar cheese, onions, peppers, and spinach. Came with home fries, and wheat toast. The omelette was decent, but the Churro French Toast was way too sweet. The vibes were immaculate and the staff was great! I do recommend going online and adding yourself to the wait list because when we got there they said almost a two hour wait - insane! However, I do think it is worth it for the experience. Once we got there we were greeted by the lovely staff and a dj booth. Not sure if the dj is an everyday thing or we just got lucky but they played great music and got everyone excited for the boozy brunch ahead. Hmm. I and my friend were bopping through New Haven and decided to stop here for a drink. I had seen this place a few times on TikTok and was intrigued - nice interior, fun drinks - sign me up! We came late afternoon on a rainy weekend, so there weren't too many diners. From what I understand this is a pretty popular place that gets crowded fast, but not this day. We met our server who was really nice when she introduced herself but that was the one and only interaction we had with her for the remainder of the time. I chalked this up to being due to ordering off an app/online and having runners bring food to us. While this place is really cute, the time from ordering and time to service is quite long. My friend ordered a mojito and sweet potato fries and I ordered a margarita. When part of my friend's order finally arrived, it had been easily about 30 minutes. Her order receipt clearly stated that she ordered sweet potato fries but what arrived was regular fries. No one informed her about no longer having sweet potatoes fries prior to bringing out the regular fries which felt a little strange. Her mojito finally arrived 10 minutes after. Finally the manager/host who was probably one of only the saving graces of our experience here, apologizes about the mix up. He notices that my friend's mojito was served is in a short glass - kind of like a whiskey/scotch glass. He immediately rectifies this and gets her a drink in a highball/tall glass - what she should have received in the first place and was easily double what she originally got. We also inform him that I had not yet received my drink (it had now been at least 40 minutes) and he comes up with everything needed to make my drink and makes it himself. He also arranges for my friend to get a refund from the earlier fries mix up. He deserves a raise for making this a much more palatable experience. There's plenty of potential to be had here. I would love to see some of these things addressed and changed before coming back here. read more

Before dining at The Place 2 Be, I often saw people post about their super Instagram-worthy food and drinks, and figured I'd try it out. Though they have multiple locations, including Hartford and West Hartford, the New Haven location is closest to where I live. So I made a reservation for a Saturday night to have dinner there. The inside of the building was pretty cool/hip. They have funny signs around like a neon one that says "Drink My Bathwater," which is located above a bathtub filled with plastic balls that you can take pictures in front of, and the women's and men's bathrooms say "WAP" and "DRIP DRIP" respectively. You view the menu and place your order via a QR code on the table, and the servers only come over to deliver your food and drinks, or if you need something. For a drink, I ordered the Apple Cider Mimosa, which is their current seasonal cocktail. It was Prosecco mixed with apple cider, rimmed with caramel sauce and sugar drip. While the presentation was amazing, it just tasted okay. It was mostly Prosecco with not much apple cider, and also a little warm. For my appetizer, I ordered the Gold Mine Nachos. The menu described this as "Nacho wedges topped with chopped steak, cheese sauce, pico de gallo, jalapeños, and pickled onions" drizzled with sour cream and edible gold. While it sounded delicious, and also looked delicious, I found out that "Nacho wedges" were not actual tortilla chips, but instead what seemed to be undercooked potato wedges. I was really disappointed because I was looking forward to actual nacho chips, and I didn't like the potato wedges at all. For my main meal, I ordered the Cowboy Burger, which included cheddar cheese, sautéed onions, bacon, and barbecue sauce, topped with an onion ring, with a side of fries. The burger and fries were pretty good! Lastly, I ordered a Chocolate Milkshake for dessert, which was HUGE and super chocolatey. It was really good, but I couldn't drink it all. The waitress was friendly and attentive, and my food came out pretty quickly. Overall not a bad experience, but as the 3-star rating indicates, it was just "okay." Popped in here with my family for breakfast after spending the night at the Omni. I had read a few not-so-great reviews, but now have to think those people are dumb as stumps. Fantastic service, massively creative and broad menu, great bar service, wonderful and friendly staff... we all enjoyed it. The ordering is unique in that it's all done in an app, but the ability to split a single bill across the table is quite nice. Very cool. We really liked this place! You definitely want to go on their website and make reservations so when you get in you get seated. We ran into a couple who just walked off the street and were told it would be at least an hour wait. The hostess and waitress were quick to get us seated and explained the concept of ordering. Essentially their is no waits to take your order. You click on the QR code and makes your order and eventually it is delivered to you when ready. The concept was easy to figure out and not too difficult. The restaurant has two floors of dining, we sat at the first floor in some high top tables, they also have a bar area where one can also eat. It was a really cool vine, we had a great view being seated by the windows. For our meals my girlfriend wanted brunch so she had the morning rooster, which was chicken and waffles. I had the bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. We loved both our meals. The portions were enormous and they both tasted so good. The menu is filled with all kinds of extra sugary treats but as I am trying to avoid any more sugar than I need to, it was a hard pass for me. My wife had wanted to to come here forever, so finally we made it here for Mother's Day brunch. We'd originally planned on going to West Hartford, but at the last minute changed up and went to New Haven. I'm giving it 4 stars, but overall the experience was kind of weird and mixed. No online reservations, but you can add to the waitlist before you get there. Wasn't necessary for us because we went in before 9 on a Sunday and it was fairly empty. We have a 10 month old and they had no high chairs. There were no other kids there when we showed up, they just hadn't gotten any high chairs yet. Fine if you'd only been open for a week or two but after a few months? Weird. All the ordering is done online. Ok you can easily update, it's contactless, no issues with servers inputting your order wrong into the system. But there seemed to be other people in the restaurant getting things (particularly beverages) that we had no idea how to order or find on the menu. And because there were large carafes of water on the table the wait staff barely came around. Weird. When we were sat and explained how the ordering worked they explained no matter what you ordered it came out when it was ready. So one of our meals came out way before the others. I'd have saved my coffee to go with my meal, but it came out so far before my food I put in an order for a second cup (not free) so that I could have one with breakfast (fortunately it did come out with the food). Their Toast Tab system means that the food comes out whenever it's ready but in reality that means that by the time the last person gets their food, the first person might have already finished..even in a party of two. After I'd eaten here twice, this place has been review bombed on Facebook because of complaints from a former employee which makes me wary of returning. The Cinnamon Churro French Toast was my favorite item, toasted golden but still fluffy on the inside. Although the bottom layers didn't have the same level of toppings and sauces as the top layer, they were still delicious and sugary. However, the Nutella latte was a disaster. The Place 2 Be NEVER disappoints. I've been a huge fan of their Hartford and West Hartford location so I had to come check-out the New Haven location. Let's just say - it was GLAMOROUS. Place 2 Be New Haven has 2 floors and it's beautifully decorated with a bar located on each floor. The interior was IT. It had the signature P2B yellow, tons of rubber ducks everywhere, and the gorgeous vines wrapped around the columns and walls! We ordered bottomless belinis, their new Southern benedict, Greek omelet, fruity pebbles latte, and Americano. The food is always consistent and fun. I loved how perfectly poached my eggs are and found it to be a fun twist on eggs benedict! During our brunch, the fire alarm went off and I was so amazed by how professional the team was and how well they handled getting us all out for safety. Bravo to the team for great communication and keeping us updated about everything. My partner and I checked-out while we were waiting outside but we could've stayed there for HOURS to enjoy the vibes! It's a great location and so fun! The way to order food is just simply annoying. You have to scan the QR code in front of you which is fine but you never actually talk to your waiter. I personally really like talking to the waiter and making connections which is why I find reason to tip them. Here you just do everything yourself and still have to give them a tip. Also the phone service in the restaurant is awful which is also fine but at least have public WiFi for your customers so I can order my food. Friends and I decided to give this new restaurant in New Haven a try on a Sunday morning. Arrived at 9 am before the crowd and were immediately seated. There are no menus. You order and pay for your food via your phone. I suppose we could have put our orders together, but not sure it would have given us the option of putting in 3 payments, so we each placed our own order. I am guessing that could be an issue with food coming to the table at the same time for everyone, but it wasn't an issue since it wasn't busy. Food options can be likened to the Sugar Factory at Foxwoods. You can choose from breakfast options or lunch/dinner. Large drink menu, but our mimosas and bellini's that you select the flavor of, were not great. We couldn't decide what to order so we each ordered an entree and then shared chicken and waffle sliders. I wish they put the syrup on the side instead of drizzling some on because it made the waffles soggy. We all agreed this was just an ok dish and I was glad I didn't choose it as my main entree. My main entree was the Classic Benny with seasoned home fries. It was good, but not great. My friend ordered the breakfast nachos that she liked very much (best thing we ordered) as well as Oreo pancakes. My other friend ordered the Churro French toast with home fries. Both these dishes were sweet and filling. We will visit again and bring our teenage daughters, as I suspect they will enjoy it.
