Wow. The first thing you'll notice as you drive in is the beautiful, well maintained grounds! Grass is peeeerfect, so you know they take care. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable! I had just come from Hui Ku Maoli Ola and didn't have a pleasant experience there. The plant place has a variety of different plants and many flowers, at different stages. Everything looked so healthy and green! Prices are decent and would much rather buy from the nurseries than from big box stores. read more

The staff are absolutely wonderful. They are so helpful in helping you select plants and take the time to get to know you. They went above and beyond by answering my questions especially for the one plant I went searching for. While what I was searching for seems to be almost impossible to get, I was able to find other plants thar will suit my needs. I was able to walk around and saw so many plants and am adding to my want list. Prices are very reasonable. With their wealth of knowledge and support, it's well worth it to support them. On our last nursery stop of the day, this one was the winner overall and by winner, I mean the only one we purchased from. We parked at the top on the gravel upon entering and made our way down to view the many flowers they had to offer. I bought 3 different colored hibiscus. They take card and cash. If I can recall, the sign by the checkout said cash only but I was asked if I'd like to pay by cash or card.. Anywhos, the lady on the golf cart offered some space for us to put our plants on for now while we explored. Once I paid her, she brought our plants up to my vehicle. Super nice! What makes Plant Place stand out even more is that she gave me a Happy Mother's Day succulent! Mind you, I believe I went towards the ending of April. Wow this is the place is one of the best to learn about Fruit Trees, vines and bushes for your garden. The growers are so knowledgeable with charts, tags and information on what the Fruit bearing, tastes, where to plant and all. Selection is great too. Highly recommend. read more

It's Labor Day!! And we found our way over to The Plant Place (they were open). We were so impressed on their pricing and service. We were greeted by Mrs. Yee, whose husband is Mr. Yee, aka (to my boys now) Uncle. Mrs. Yee was really knowledgeable but had to run to an obligation and turned us over to Uncle. My boys were having their first time at a nursery and I was worried about them touching, bumping, tripling, slipping, falling, eating random things. But it was so nicely laid out and so clean that they were able to experience the nursery with ease. They saw the buggy and were trying to figure out how to take it for a joy ride. We walked the property and I was shocked that I got ZERO mosquito bites! My boys too, and this is a huge feat as we are mosquito magnets. Amazing. We went specifically because we saw a red sealing wax palm in the pics posted by other Yelpers. And we were thrilled to find that these are plentiful and fairly priced here. We got one for our yard, with help and tips for care from Uncle. We also got some ground cover plants. I wanted to buy more, but had to resist, as they only take cash or checks. This was self limiting as I forgot my check book and didn't see an ATM on the property. Uncle let the boys ride the buggy with him to pick up the plants and deliver them to our car. When we left my boys were stoked. They agreed, "we like shopping at nurseries!" So I suppose we will have to get a bigger yard! read more

I found this place in December 2024. How come did I not know for long? I am mad at myself. I was looking for a Meyer lemon tree which I have wasted so much money at various nurseries in a past. First of all, it was set in a beautiful backdrop of Koolau Mt, but more than that, this wonderful, sweet lady named Elizabeth came out to help me find a perfect tree with all the necessary tips and professional knowledge. I did purchase one after her recommendation. After 2 months, my Meyer lemon is thriving for the first time. So, I went back again today for another one. Again, I was welcomed by her and beautiful smiles. The whole encounter with her was just pleasurable. With her help, again I bought another one. Of course I am delighted with another purchase of my favorite lemon tree, it was absolutely wonderful encounter with another human being. With a magnificent view of mountains, their nursery, having a wonderful conversation with this wonderful professional, my day turned out to be far more than I could have imagined. She is such a great asset to this business. As I was leaving,, an owner drove by and chatted a bit. He too was such a sweet man and told me how much he appreciates Elizabeth. "Papa" in the golf cart genuinely warm and friendly, and a happy person. Place was easy to find, Clean, organized, appealing. They have a lot of different plants, unfortunately I got there at closing and had only enough time to get what I really needed. Great selection of red palms. Mainly came in 2 sizes, taller and shorter. I really enjoyed the history of these plants that papa shared. They grow them from seeds. Well worth the drive to waimanalo from the west side. I've been to 2 other nurseries in search of this special palm. The quality of the palm and service delivered was above and beyond. Thank you! read more

The Plant Place was second on our list of East-side nurseries to visit. Another one of the many nurseries off of Waikupanaha Street, the Plant Place can be easily missed since it's right off the main road. Look for signage that indicates where the driveway is. When you turn into the property, you cannot continue going straight (there's a sign that says no vehicles past a certain point); make an immediate right instead to park in a gravel area off to the side. From there you can head over to the office area to see if someone can help you or you can wander off into the grounds like we did. The Plant Place grounds are very well- kept and organized. Rows and rows of ground cover plants and small shrubs, palms, small trees and more greet you as you walk around. If you venture further to the back of the property you'll find smaller plants like succulents and indoor plants in greenhouse-like environments. We knew right away that this place offered more than what we were looking for and was aimed more for landscaping projects. There was a great selection and the plants seemed very healthy and happy. The only suggestion I would have is to make some of the pricing clearer. I only noticed a few signs in the back areas for some of the plants. Perhaps this is done purposefully so you need to track down a staff member to initiate. The staff and who I assume was the owner was very friendly and stopped by on his golf cart to make sure we were ok walking around. His friendly and curious dog was also making rounds, and I noticed that she approaches visitors eagerly. When we explained that we were just looking at the neighborhood nurseries and mainly interested in orchids, he recommended we check out another nursery down the road (right and then a left), Plant Hawaii. It was nice to see that the Waimanalo Plant community was so friendly and willing to share amongst their plant community peers. Although we didn't find anything here this time, I was really impressed with how immaculately the owners took care of their plants and the grounds. This nursery is also located in a beautiful spot, with the beautiful Koolau mountains in the back -- we had a great time walking around this picturesque nursery. I will definitely keep this place in mind if I ever find myself looking for larger plants like most of what the Plant Place offers and even if I'm not I wouldn't mind coming back to browse. read more

Amazing service, wide variety of beautiful plants, and an incredible location. Tucked away in Waimanalo Valley, this nursery is a gorgeous place to visit. Service was incredible. I bought the 7 gallon bougainvillea & the gentleman actually carried it to my car, filled the pot with newspaper to avoid spillage, and secured it in my backseat with a seatbelt. And I wasn't the only person there. They were patient, kind, knowledgeable, and so friendly. I recommend this nursery for larger plants. And they accept Venmo! Huge plus! read more

The plant place is deep in Waimanolo and I'm so happy I went here! You can find fruit plants at other places but they were nothing like the ones at the plant place! The plants were small and already bared fruit! They had so many plants I've never heard of like the finger lemon & miracle berry which my friend brought. I had to google what they were exactly. There is a sign to where you turn off of the main road. It's a long narrow private dirt road through lots of vegetation bushes etc. And it is almost at a level of 4WD vehicles only. I was looking for orchids. The owner told me they just have fruit trees and hibiscus. I didn't see the plant nursery area as the nursery was apparently on the other side of some trees and bush vegetation hidden from the parking lot. read more

I love this place. I also really like the people who own it and work here. It is such a treat to go to Waimanalo and shop all the beautiful plants. Here, we found so much we wanted and a really kind and helpful owner. He even allowed us to take as many coconuts as we wanted for free. We purchased some truly lovely palms here for a great price and one of my favorite ti plants came from here. This is our go-to plant place for palms and such. Only problem is the hours. It can be tough for us to get here from town during business hours. But we do what we can. ;) Check the place out! read more

This place is awesome - took us a few tries to figure out how to get there (Google Maps took us to the wrong place a couple times), but once we did it was worth it! They had EVERYTHING we were looking for - lots of varieties of fruit trees, indoor and outdoor plants, and the staff is super friendly. There are actually two nurseries on the same property but they work together well and you can shop at both - they ring you up for either as needed. Will definitely be back to feed my newest obsession with yard beautification and trying to green-up my formerly black thumbs. read more

The plant place is a huge farm of a variety of plants. The parking is a little confusing and the place I parked was a little small. The best people who takes care of this place were very friendly and helpful. I was amaze how green and healthy all their plants were when visiting. The plants were very organized and I do want to not that this place is huge! I visited to familiarize myself with their plant selections as I heard about them but never had the time to check out their place. I will be going back because of the bonsai plant selection they have. I also will be going back with my dad as he loves lipstick palms and they had so many to choose from and they look very healthy. read more

Stopped here looking for Red Sealing Wax Palms. So many it's unreal. It's one of their specialties. Aunty Ellen and their dog Lola were so nice and explained everything we needed to know and then a whole lot more. Wanted to hang out here longer and relax. It was so peaceful and clean. My wife was wearing shorts and worried that she was going to get bitten by mosquitos but there were none. We had planned on visiting a bunch of nurseries but spent all our money here. Bought three sealing wax palms, an orange tree, black pine tree, baby mondo grass, and a bunch of dwarf lawai ferns. Going to come back for the puakenekene plant and noodle bamboo. Prices are very reasonable. They only take cash or check. I would go here first and then look at other places. read more

Go check um, go check um, go.... After going to 2 nurseries in Waimanalo a few weeks ago, we ended up at The Plant Place upon the recommendation of, believe it or not, another nursery! We were looking for not-so-common palms (kentia and red sealing wax) and he had both plus a lot of others at a competitive price. We also purchased a lime tree and they have many fruit trees to choose from. I've been to a lot of nurseries in the past 15 years from Kunia to Hawaii Kai to Waimanalo, including the big box retailers, and I've found my "go to" nursery! We came here needing plants for our valley home but didn't really know what we wanted. We were referred here by Michael from Frankie's nursery - so glad that growers support each other. Warren, the owner, was a very nice man and told us to look around and was available for any questions. He could not have been nicer nor more helpful. Sometimes when we found a plant we liked, he would say that he had a younger version of that plant cheaper in another part of the nursery. Who does that?!? Anyways, with Warren's help we found what we were looking for and learned some things in the process. We are about to go there again for more plants. Warren seems to specialize in fruit and vegetable plants as well as local and decorative plants. We picked up a small mountain apple tree, two monsterra, purple kalo, thuja and two white bird of paradise (all good sized, $120 total). Beautiful, healthy plants and we could not be happier. Elizabeth helped discuss plantings on Oahu and things to consider. The nursery has ample parking. Restrooms are available. I was quite surprised at how different the plant place is from other nurseries. Everything about it is top of the line. The grounds are well kept, and their plant stock is absolutely beautiful, well maintained and healthy. I bought some stock in 4" pots that was as healthy, full and robust as what I'd bought at an other shop previously in 6" pots. The folks running it were very friendly , too. It will not be my go-to nursery. read more
