As an Huntington Beach local I have been shopping at The Plantation store since Pacific City opened years ago. They carry a curated collection of costal inspired home decor and furnishings. I especially love the Hawaiian items as Hawaii holds a special place in my heart :) I have purchased many home items- 3 mirrors, wall decor and gifts for family and friends. Just recently I was in the store and fell in love with a Cane wicker wardrobe cabinet and knew it would be perfect in my daughters room. I absolutely love it and fits all her clothing and toys perfectly! So very happy I found it and at a very reasonable price as well. Hawaiin Plantation History There were a lot of good things that came out of the Plantations in Hawaii. It provided many jobs so that families could survive. There are tours today that explain all of this in Hawaii, with many positive reviews. My family enjoyed the Pineapple Plantation while visiting Hawaii. I. Love. This. Store. Love it! This is my favorite home store, they have great items at all price points and the staff has been friendly each time I've gone in. A lot of unique beachy items are sold here that I can't find at the average store - really cute tea towels, art work, pillows and even jewelry - most are sourced from Hawaii which is probably why I haven't seen most of this stuff before. Everytime I have come in I have bought at least one thing, never leave empty handed. It's also organized very well and people with OCDs will love it. The store is organized by color, which immediately got my attention because I can go directly to the section that coordinates with my home. Small things are displayed in the front, large in the back, nothing is placed too high or in awkward areas that are hard to reach. The only negative is that I follow them on Instagram and some of the items in the Hawaii store are not stocked in this location. I'm pretty sure I could call an order it but I'm the type of person who needs to see it in person before I buy it. read more

It is not the cost of the necklace, it is the principal and the rudeness. BBB is getting a call so is Consumer Affairs. The quality and level of home accessories are unique and special...compared to all other home accessory stores I have visited. A fantastic place to pick out a gift for birthdays, anniversaries and weddings. Of course "just because" gifts are easy to find. I have NEVER dealt with such horrible customer service. NEVER. If I could issue a zero to negative star rating, I would do so gladly as it would be warranted! I stumbled upon this adorable store while enjoying Sunday brunch with a friend at the new Pacific center. This was awesome as I was headed to a housewarming and wanted a unique gift. I found an awesome starfish chip and dip platter and right away purchased. I was a little shocked that they didn't have the original box to secure in but the salesgirl Nickie was so sweet and told me she could put it in a gift box for me but of course at an additional cost of $4. I chose to do it and I was assured that she would put some bubble wrap and tissue paper to make sure it would be secure. I paid for it and continued my shopping as she did this. I get to the housewarming and made my friend immediately open it as I knew she would love it and would probably want to use it right away. To my horror to opened it up and she looked at me with a disappointed face. I look and the platter is broken in half. There was no bubble wrap, just 2-3 thin layers of tissue paper. Long story short, I called right away and eventually got the store manager on the phone. I explained the situation and right away she goes on saying that the item left their store and they are not liable. Um. All I did was set it on the bottom of the floor on the passenger side of my car and drove 25 min to my destination, picked it up, walked about 2 min, and set it on the counter where it was opened 2 min later. There was nothing that could have cracked it like that. I didn't want a refund, just a replacement. "sorry maam the only thing I can do is take your number and send it to our operations team" I get a call from Zack. Right away, he goes on with the same ramble of how they cant know what I did and therefore cant be liable. How do I know that Nickie didn't wrap it and while she turned it upside down to tape the edges, the plate cracked without her knowing? The only answer he could give me is that they will review the tape and see. How can you SEE that on tape? I paid $67 for this platter that for all I know was broken before I even walked out of the store, I was extremely embarrassed, and now insulted. I'm not sure how many locations this company has, but if you can't take care of a customer over what probably cost you $10-$20- you won't be in business for long. You have definitely lost me as a customer and I will make sure no one I know wastes their money there either. PLEASE DO NOT SHOP AT THE PLANTATION! They are not customer focused and robbed me of $67. read more

Stumbled upon this place while shopping and it is literally SO ADORABLE!! Everything is so beachy & cute. I bought myself a dainty little sterling silver pendant necklace & I am obsessed with it. They have a wide variety of different types of jewelry, candles, pillows, etc. Literally this place is perfect for gift giving! The manager Linda is very attentive and sweet. She told us a bit about the history of this place, the only other Plantation is in Hawaii which I think is awesome considering they chose Huntington Beach for the only other location. My family and I were drawn into this store today by the cute decor displayed in the window. When we walked in we found the sales lady talking on her phone to what we assumed was a friend since her tone of voice and mannerisms indicated she was pissed off. She didn't say one word to our family or any of the other guests that walked in. Not even a hello or goodbye. This store has some extremely cute decor items, but we wouldn't buy anything here due to the terrible customer service. We found a super cute decor boutique, Cherry Hills Market, at the other end of the mall that had the friendliest staff. Sucks to see one worker completely ruin the shopping experience. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My boyfriend bought me a $14 bracelet in there for Christmas. I just went in there to exchange it and was going to get a $100+ necklace I had seen before Christmas. The sales girl told me all jewelry is final sale. I said well can you call the owner or manager and tell her I want to buy something more expensive. The owner or manager, whom ever she spoke with said no. What a shame, this was my favorite store. I will NEVER be shopping in there again. After leaving there I went to Heirlooms and Hardware, bought some beautiful new jewelry and told them my about my horrible experience. DO NOT SHOP HERE!! I bought my wife a bracelet for Christmas. I chose it out of the case and never personally handled it before I left the store. When my wife opened it we discovered it was so small it wouldn't fit anyone older than a child. I called the first day after Christmas they were open and was told at that point that there were different sizes available but that they have a no return / exchange policy on jewelry. Keep in mind, there were no gems or stones on this bracelet so no real reason they couldn't exchange it. Event after that conversation, I drove down there to talk to them in person. They still refused to give me a larger size, exchange it, or give me store credit. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED AN EMPLOYEE BE SO SMUG TO ME AS THIS EMPLOYEE. My wife and I now stay in Hawaii for 4 months a year and have been owners in Ko Olina since 2003. Our good friends, both doctors in Boulder, CO, come to stay with us each year and buy a thank you gift on departure. This year they bought us a glass bowl with small hand painted fish on the exterior in late February from The Plantation Ko Olina. We never used the bowl except once when my wife placed some oranges in the bowl. Before leaving home to Colorado on April 27 my wife hand washed the bowl with joy and warm water to put it away- paint flecks were noted on the exterior of the bowl indicating the paint had failed. We left the bowl with the store manager, Janelle Johnson, who advised this had not happened with this product ( all the more reason to take it back !) but couldnt give us a refund without the receipt. We left the bowl with her since we would not return for months and asked her to take it up with the owner. We asked who the owner was and were told that they did not want their name or contact details disclosed but that they were located in California. We emailed our concerns to a general email address and advised we could request our friends for their credit card record but that they could easily look up the purchase themselves as we provided the date of purchase in February. A reply came back from an unnamed person described as the operations manager that they would not give a refund or offer a store credit because the item was "used" and over two months old and that there was no receipt- contained within the email was a statement that they do not accept returns over two weeks and only on unused and undamaged goods....which of course is in complete contradiction with the two month statement. We replied to this email asking who the "operations manager" was who had sent the email and we also asked if the matter had been discussed with the owner and finally asked to inform us who was the "artist" and producer of this bowl which failed after one hand washing. We received no reply to our email. We called the shop in Ko Olina to find out who the operations manager was and a store clerk on duty advised that it was Janelle Johnson- the original clerk we gave the bowl back to ! We asked for a call back from Janelle and never got one. The store clerk also didnt know who the artist or maker of the bowl was. I looked up this company name and found that an affiliated store was opened in Huntington Beach, CA with the same name, after the Ko Olina store had opened. I spoke with Kim, the manager of this store, and she also could not disclosed the name or contact details of "their operations team members" but said she would look into it, even though she didnt know the "operation team member" who replied to me. This is a company with two small retail shops and they are intentionally deflecting a valid customer complaint. All this angst for a $ 60 glass bowl given as a gift. I write this review not out of concern for the money which as taken from our friends, but to alert potential customers of this shop to be very careful when and if you buy something from this shop- it is not like a Pier one or Target or Costco to Nordstrom or any other serious business who will take back obviously defective merchandise. The Plantation Ko Olina didnt have storage to keep the defective bowl till our return and so a friend of ours in Ko Olina will be picking up the bowl. You may see me one day in front of this store carrying the bowl and showing it to prospective customers with the message "buyer beware". The Coconut wire as they say will spread the word ! We shall never patronize this store and will urge all our friends in Ko Olina to think twice before parting with their cash for good ! read more

Ive shopped here a couple times before buying jewelry, perfumes, and lotions for my girlfriend. The products are expensive, and tend to be of pretty good quality. however, the reason this shop is receiving such a poor review from me is because of their service and employees. I went in about 2 weeks ago, and attempted to have a conversation with a male employee about new products they have and interesting things i could get as gifts. rather than acting like a normal salesman, this man avoided eye contact, ignored my very direct statements like, "hello, i have a question!" and also proceeded to run to the back of the store when I tried to talk to him about the jewelry. He literally looked at me, made eye contact, then walked to the back of the store and entered a door marked for employees only. Ive been shopping here since they first opened back in November of 2015, and the reason for such a horrible review is because I'm almost positive that they've changed almost their entire staff. As the only other review by Nichole B. says, the (former) manager, Linda, was very good at her job and seemed like she didn't even feel like she was working from how much fun she was having. But now, the new manager, a woman named Kim, is awkward and seems like she is only interested in pushing products that the buyer isn't interested in. I would say avoid this place. read more
