So, him staying at the hospital for a couple of days did him good. But, finally decided to take him home and his doing so much better thanks to hospice and my mom and brother taking care of him. But i wouldn't recommend this place.

She was in Dallas for acute care and was discharged to Abilene rehab facility where she started her rehabilitation. After about 6 weeks and slow progress, it was suggested by the therapists that she would benefit from being transferred to TLC, a post acute brain injury rehab center. Our family was somewhat cold to the idea but since our insurance approved it, why not give it a try? On the 2nd day at TLC, my wife was walking with minimal assistance!!! We were happy and extremely impressed at her progress. Counting 6 weeks now, she is walking on her own, feeding herself, and gaining her weight back. This place is where miracles happen. We cannot say enough thanks to the wonderful staff. We need more places like this in Texas.

They have serious…read morecommunication issues from administration (wouldn't return my calls), business office (what I owed them changed 3 times in 15 minutes, did not keep me up to date with accounts), social worker (was not specific when communicating with me then blamed me) and nursing (did not notify me when my loved one fell and was transported to ER, lost clothing and glasses). They were as happy to see me go as I was to go, but they were going to discharge two dementia patients who had nowhere else to go. If you do end up with a loved one here, be vigilant. Visit every day and ask questions. Better yet, just don't use this place. It ended up being a nightmare for us.

I appreciate being reached out to by someone representing the facility. The resident's families need to be heard and their concerns taken seriously and addressed. I know it was only a pizza but theft is theft, no matter what it is big or small. And for a facility to not even care to try to make an effort to call and rectify a problem was inexcusable. So if you do not think your reviews are read they are. It may take a while to be contacted but if the business cares you will be contacted. I was after I had almost forgotten about making a review.

This facility required the full month payment for my cousin in advance so my aunt paid it immediately. My cousin had cancer and the facility could not manage his pain. His doctor gave instructions to transport him to the emergency room via ambulance. When I relayed the instructions to the nurse I was yelled at and told that I needed to let her do her job and that my cousin did not need to go to the emergency room. She stated she had 30 years experience, she's a nurse and she knows when a patient needs to go to the emergency room. That night my cousin's pain was unmanageable at their facility and suffered dearly throughout the night. The next morning the facility transported him to his doctor appointment and the doctor's office immediately sent him to the emergency room. My cousin never went back to Southern Specialty and four months later, my aunt has not received a reimbursement for the days she had prepaid. We have called for two months regarding the reimbursement and have only received the run around. I personally have spoken with Brittany and Raymond regarding this matter and have been promised they would follow up and return my phone calls. Not one phone call was ever returned. As of today, Brittany informed me that the account had been "zeroed" out and I needed to contact corporate to speak with Vivian. Of course, I had to leave a voice mail message. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONE TO SOUTHERN SPECIALTY, they will not be cared for.
