The staff was friendly and seemed to take good care of my mom, Dec. 3 that changed. I looked at video from the camera in my mom's room and saw two aids throw the blanket off my mom and force her to get in her wheelchair, telling her it was time to go to bed (they had things to do). My mom kept telling them no and to leave her alone, but they still forced her to her wheelchair and then to bed. She was bruised up and down her arm and wrist on the inside and outside of her arm. I showed the video to the executive director and the wellness director. I also showed the video to hospice. They both reported the incident to the state. The two employees were released from their job. THEN, on Jan. 3 I check the camera and see my mom lying on the floor. I called the wellness director and told her. I immediately drove to GSH. In the meantime, I looked at the videos, and I saw the caregiver rolling my mom out of the restroom and see my mom fall out of her wheelchair. The caregiver had not put my mom far enough back in her chair, she was sitting on the edge of her chair, her feet were dragging and her feet got hung up and caused her to be flipped out of her chair. (the facility never as the footrest on the wheelchairs). My mom is crying out "I hit my knee." The care giver never showed any concern, compassion, apology or sense of urgency. My mom told the caregiver twice, "get someone to help get me up" and both times the caregiver raises her voice and says, "HOLD ON". On the video no one asks my mom if she is hurt or in pain, they just get her up and put her in her recliner. When I get there, I put ice on her right knee she fell on. The caregiver who was pushing the wheelchair comes in the room, no apology, just "she didn't fall". The next morning, I met with the executive director and showed her the video of my mom falling out of the chair. I told her the caregiver showed no remorse, compassion, concern or sense of urgency. All she had to say was "we can't teach compassion." There was no concern, apology or compassion from the director. If can't get compassion from the executive director, there will be no consequences for staff who does not show compassion. The executive director never apologized to me or my mom for what happened to her. There are other things I had issues with, but those are the main issues. I feel like if you have a loved one who is relatively independent, they will be just fine, but if they begin showing signs of dementia or needing more assistance things get a little more difficult for the resident. GSH says they can care for those with dementia/memory issues, but most staff members are not trained on how to redirect the resident or calm them. When my mom started having some issues with dementia, I was getting calls almost daily telling me I needed to come up there. Most of the staff members are very caring and love their residents. The ones who do not seem to be in management positions. This is sad. Wherever a family chooses to place their loved one, I highly suggest installing cameras in their room. Despite the staff being informed repeatedly that she had severe vision problems she was rarely escorted to & from the dining room that required several hallways & an elevator. When she had to begin using a wheelchair she still did not receive assist. I could count on one hand how many times she was assisted with a bath. She was in her late 90's!! When it came time to administer pills the nurse would many times leave them on the kitchen counter if Mother was in the bathroom. Many times I found her pills on the floor or still sitting on the counter. When I quit doing her laundry I found they had done it & stacked the clean laundry on top of the soiled laundry in the basket. She could not see to distinguish between clean & dirty laundry. The list goes on. If your loved one needs assistance this is not the place for them to be.

Rooms go from 1k to 3500 and from the food I saw stocked in their pantry it was nothing but cheap great value food products which have become known to be full of strange ingredients and additives. I didn't expect gourmet foods but that is unbelievably low quality. The owner is Debbie Callander and from what I was able to discover, she owns multiple houses that all have disgruntled employees except for managers that get paid the most (I hold hope that they are very hard-working people that deserve such pay) otherwise it's a revolving door of employees due to how rancid Debbie Callander is to them and treats them as disposable. Personally this helped me decide not to advise a family member to begin the process of placing his disabled sister here especially after having a conversation with the son of a resident and finding out that the assistant manager was repeatedly trying to date him via social media. Just so unprofessional all across the board.

On her last Saturday afternoon, she got worse so the nurse left a message for the on-call doctor at 3 pm. As of the shift change at 7 pm, no doctor had responded. i stayed with my wife until she was discharged at 10 am the next morning. As far as I know the on-call doctor never responded. The nurse on that floor had to call EMS to transport another patient that night to the Emergency Room. My wife stayed at Carillon House for 35 days over a year ago but she will never go back.

Throughout her stay, Annie Mendoza treated both my grandmother and our family with very little respect. Whenever we needed assistance, she often rolled her eyes or made us feel like we were inconveniencing her. During my grandmother's two-week stay, she wandered out of her room without our knowledge. We were not informed until the following day. At that point, Annie told us that a family member would have to stay with my grandmother 24/7, which we did not believe was an appropriate or acceptable solution. It felt like we had to fight to get even basic care and assistance for my grandmother. When our requests were finally addressed, they were often met with a rude attitude. We also spoke with the director, Gloria McGinnis, regarding our concerns. Unfortunately, we felt that our concerns were not taken seriously, and no meaningful effort was made to address the way some staff members interacted with patients and their families. On a positive note, Blue and Rhonda provided outstanding care. They were compassionate, attentive, and genuinely seemed to care about my grandmother's health and well-being. We are very grateful for the kindness they showed her. Based on our experience, I would not recommend this facility to families seeking compassionate, respectful care for their loved ones.

We went to go see him and i he had sores on his other foot and on his buttocks area. They weren't taking care of him at all. We finally talked to hospice and the crown point had sent him to the hospital at the time that we were meeting with hospice that he had fallen again and his eyes rolled back. So, him staying at the hospital for a couple of days did him good. But, finally decided to take him home and his doing so much better thanks to hospice and my mom and brother taking care of him. But i wouldn't recommend this place.
