This is the the first one star review I am giving to anywhere since joining Yelp and I do no do this lightly but I feel very strongly about how we were treated here that I don't believe that I have a choice, I would actually have given zero stars if I could!!
We arrived for a pre-booked table and were left standing for a good 5+ minutes with staff whooshing past us but nobody taking us under their notice or asking us for any details....eventually got to our table which was at the end of the restaurant, the table was nice and we were asked for our drinks orders. After 10 minutes the waitress returned and took our food order, she started with me and I gave her my starter order and she moved on to the rest of the party but took their starter and main orders, she was about to leave when I asked if I could give her my main meal order and she said she thought I was having the starter as my main!? Anyway after being corrected she went away with all orders and all seemed well at this point.
It wasn't long before our starters arrived which were lovely, I had the seafood three ways which was nice. Not long after our plates were collected and we waited for our mains, which came quite quickly-seemed like service was back on track! We all got the burgers, I had the tropical burger and fries which was huge and tasty.
The plates were collected shortly after and at this point I went to the loo, I came back and had missed the offer of a dessert, I didn't want anything more so this was fine. We had however decided we would sit on and get a few more drinks so when we eventually got the attention of a staff member we asked for the cocktail menu, this took nearly 15 minutes to be brought to us which we thought was excessive-but little did we know how bad it was to get! We sat for another 40 minutes with no staff coming near us, we could see them serving other tables and as we had asked for the cocktail menu I think it should have been obvious we wanted to order a cocktail!?? Well eventually one of the staff came to clear another table and we got his attention and asked if he had forgotten about us (this was Ben, the same staff member who brought us the cocktail menu some 40 minutes previously) at this point he proceeded to say that we had been rude all night and that the issue with the dessert was a problem (another of my party had simply asked if there was a certain dessert on the menu as she was full and only her favourite dessert would tempt her to have something and when the waitress said it wasn't available she said she wouldn't bother), Ben then said we needed to show the staff some respect and also that we should have just shouted if we wanted a drink!!? I couldn't believe it....I have literally never been spoken to in this way by a staff member in a restaurant in all my life-he then looked very smug and told us to order a drink-obviously we weren't going to spend any more money so told him to be on his way and that we wanted to speak to the manager.
The manager came over a few minutes later and apologised profusely and said the staff member would be spoken to as that is not how she would expect anyone to speak to a customer even if they had of been rude (which we were not), however she offered nothing by way of apology or as a goodwill gesture, which I think is the least she could have done considering the behaviour of her staff!
It was quite clear that we had been ignored since the 'dessert' incident and the staff had deliberately decided to stay away from our table and so made it very obvious to other customers that there was an issue, it was extremely embarrassing and totally unprofessional.
I will never set foot in this restaurant again and I would recommend others to seriously think twice also!
As an elite yelper I take all reviews seriously and I do feel bad for having to be so harsh here but although the food was nice there is no excusing being treated in this way by the staff-we were out having a meal and wanted to have a good time, this was such a disappointment and completely ruined the night. read more
