Deliciousness! Frosty Freeze type businesses can be hit or miss. This place is definitely a Hit! They open early in the season, February. We stopped in yesterday for lunch around 11:30. The young lady at the counter was super friendly. We ordered Deluxe crispy chicken sandwiches, with lettuce, tomato, purple onions, bacon , and ranch. The chicken patty is thin, but larger than the huge seasame bun and quite juicy. The veggies and bacon were crisp. We also had a large order of tator tots, crispy, fantastic tots, but way too many for two people. Lastly we opted for a blue raspberry frosty freeze thing that was recommended to us. It was great! It was like a dreamscile shake with raspberry. Never had one, but will definitely get one again. This place obviously has a great reputation. People just kept showing up for the huge menu. They have plenty of park benches in front, out back, and the entire side yard. We will definitely return the next time we are in town. read more

Every single time I go to Polka Dot I receive perhaps some of the worst food service in Quincy. I went to get a burrito and a latte. Not very complicated. It ended up taking 50 minutes to get these simple items, because they had forgotten about my order. Other customers, with more items than I, and had ordered AFTER me, were given their food before me. Another time, I spent ANOTHER 50 minutes waiting for a latte before work because they kept pulling their shots wrong, whatever that means- their words not mine. Ultimately I had to step in and just accept whatever concoction they created (for $6 by the way). Latte was awful. And I was late for work. Not only is the place overpriced, but the food is very mid too. Almost $20 for a hot dog, fries and a drink that is "just ok" is pretty ridiculous. This place has horrible service, and it seems like their iPad, espresso machine, or fryer are always having issues. The worst part is it doesn't even seem like they really care that their service is horrible. No discounts, refunds or anything to dampen the blow of their horrible service. Curse whatever hellish demon put this place on the map. And God help you if you go to Polka Dot at a time with more than one customer. read more

The food, as always, is excellent. However, they offer the ability to order online through Zmenu. Apparently, this person was not aware of this service provided to paying customers. The person taking the orders on 8/29/22, between 6 and 7 PM, did not acknowledge me at the pickup window. Unlike previous orders, this person did not ask me if I had an order. Whether I am standing at the pickup window, or standing in the order line, the person behind me would have had to have waited the 30 seconds it took to hand me the food I already paid for, so her advice to "get in the order line to pick up my food" is meaningless. Please instruct your people to ask people at the pickup window to at least ask why they are there if you offer an online ordering service. Thank you. read more

This place is under a new management and completely done a great job with minimizing their menu to keep customer from being confused with how much they can serve. Simple menu and low cost! My feedback would be to kinda test out their food on how much time it has cook. My food was a little burnt and the breading falls off. Im sure they're still figuring stuff out. This place was near the last minute hotel that I stayed at. I was hoping to have a good old fashioned hamburgers and fries. Was a quite disappointed that the sourdough cheeseburger was skimpy on the meat. The burger didn't fit the bread and the meat was quite thin. The portion sizes were small for the price. The taste of the food was okay though. I did like the outdoor seating. There is a little creek that runs around the property that makes it a fun place to sit outside and enjoy your food. I would go back but now I know I would have to Ofer twice as much food to satisfy my hungry. read more

Stopped into town to have dinner with friends and figured this place would do fine, however we had ordered a mixed veggie and when we got it it absolutely looked liked it came from the bottom of the fryer! It was a clump of scratch! This place used to be a good place to go. The price we paid for this so called veggie was not worth the $6.75. read more

Blast from the past. Dog friendly...walk up window and outside benches. We just happened upon this place during a recent road trip thorugh Quincy. I had the fresh peach shake which I think someone forgot to include peaches so it was just vanilla tasting, no peach. Hubby had a huge dipped vanilla swirl cone. Behind the A-frame building is a little picnic area with about 8 or so tables. A little creek runs along both sides of the picnic area so you have to cross over a wooden bridge. Don't sit too close to the creek because someone's toddler will be running through it and splashing you. read more

Ok here's my review of Polka dot in Quincy Double hamburger 11.00 the meat is real thin and charred black on edges, with one piece of cheese. You get all bread , lettuce , tomato, onions. ( $5.50 ) at best. Large banana Shake 8.00 you get half cup of Shake the rest is whip cream. ($4.00) at best Fries 3.00 it says curly fries NOT .. Every now and then we make a big day trip of driving up the Hwy 79 canyon hitting Quincy at lunch. The Polka Dot is our go-to lunch spot for an Ortega Chili burger and onion rings. The food is always tasty and we are able to sit in the outdoor picnic area with our dog. Great atmosphere... and the food is always good! read more

This is the cutest takeout spot, with a lovely outside seating area under lots of trees and a creek running through it. We arrived at noon and had to wait for our food for a bit since everything is hand made and they were slammed w/ Cal Fire, ATT workers and lots of families. The chicken tenders were one of the best my husband has ever had. The cheeseburger was huge and the curly fries delicious. They also have an extensive ice cream menu that a lot of kids took advantage of. Definitely worth visiting. read more

They are have new owners and at first it was great, food was awesome and the price was decent. The past few times have been a horrible experience. The fries and tots are soggy, they put half a bottle of sauce on the food, and they constantly forget our order and we end up waiting up to two hours. i have to say I was so excited to get a chocolate dipped cone. It is one of my favorites, but I was highly disappointed after I received my cone. The chocolate barely covered the soft serve. I got mine with nuts- which was a lot more. I got maybe 10 nuts total. The service was also not so great. I ordered two cones, and let them know we had one more in our party. I grew up in Batavia and visited the Pok A Dot every week with my family. I no longer live in Batavia, but whenever I get the chance I take a little road trip with my family and enjoy a delicious lunch there! The atmosphere is truly nostalgic and the food is always amazing! It just feels like coming home and brings back fond memories of my childhood. I hope my children carry on the tradition! The food was okay taste-wise, and we had a variety including burgers , salad, corn dog, fries but we had to wait over 50 minutes for the order and then when we got it the food was barely warm. The vegetables were nice and fresh, the corn dog was homemade but everything else was quite average. We spent $70 on lunch for 6 people so prices are acceptable but the long wait is not. So my profile photo is from the Dot. And the ice cream you see, while delicious, was difficult to keep up with. It's a dipped cone. The thing about a dipped cone? It helps when the ice cream is significantly colder than the substance it's been dipped it in. Otherwise you end up licking you're own hand more than the actual cone (which is amusing for onlookers; mortifying for myself. But i'll be damned if I let the cone win). Okay, I don't know much about making a dipped cone. Maybe they did everything right and it was just a hot day that made my decison to buy a dipped cone....the wrong one. I dunno... Actually, yeah, the more I say "dipped cone" the more I realize that, it was probably my poor decision-making that was the problem. Dipped cone. Pffff. I'm a huge dip for buying a dipped cone in Quincy in mid-summer when the temp is a pleasant, temperate "sweltering". Speaking of hysterical...what's with the over-the-top rigid School Mistress review, Anne P? You sound like you've got your hair pulled back in a too-tight bun and a black dress that has cinched your foodie-soul into an opinionated volcano of rage. Not to be mellow-dramatic or over-the-top myself...but it's a floundering roadside diner in a town that can barely keep it's own town paper afloat let alone a seasonal viddles establishment. Cut the place some slack and enjoy the delightful quirkiness that is Quincy. I mean, look at me; I have an ice-cream cone and a hand that look like they both belong to a 5 year old with ADD and i'm havin' a great time. YUM! Not only is this little smurfette house darling, but there is an awesome outdoor area to enjoy the mountain air (and let the kiddies or dogs run around) and sip your malt. They have the expected fare, and a few unexpected things like veggie rice bowls (for $2.50) and a decent salad selection. This is a busy burger stand though, so expect a wait. My family and I came on Sunday for ice cream. Two small shakes and a vanilla cone. I made the order at 2:11pm. I waited for 45 minutes. For ice cream. My number was 186. The lady with 187 got her order before mine, and it was ice cream. I noticed at the 35 minute mark my milk shakes were sitting on the counter. I paid for m&ms in my daughters shake and got reeses candy in it sitting in the bottom, it wasn't even mixed in. What if she had a allergy to peanuts? Someone wasn't paying attention. I paid for a coffee milkshake and got a vanilla. I'm absolutely disappointed and wont come back. Before when ice cream was ordered, we'd get it within 10 minutes. Really subpar experience in the year I've lived here. There burgers are OK but there are better ones in town for the same price. The service isn't fast enough to justify. Biggest let down is by far the "fresh fruit shakes" which were essentially soft-serve with, at best, store bought fruit. I ordered a giant burger with the works... be sure to ask for tomato and onion if you want it... The bun was fresh and toasted, the veggies fresh and crisp, the meat was a 5/1 patty (that's 5 patties per pound or 3.2 oz each) cooked and seasoned nicely with just the right amount of condiments. I liked it very much... a typical old school burger and ya can't get that at McWendyStar. Daughter had chicken strips, we both had fries and split an order of onion rings. The fries were a total disappointment... Cooked in fresh oil but not properly. They were soggy and not hot, warm but not warm enough. The onion rings were typical frozen rings but were solid onions not that chipped and formed junk... fried perfectly and tasty but also not hot. Sad real sad. The daughter's chicken was OK, not great, not bad and not worth the $$, but also sad. The wait for food. Oh my... totally unacceptable. I expect a wait at the old burger stands, things are cooked to order and that takes more time than the assembly line using pre-cooked food at the McKingJrs. Fact is I'm more concerned if the food comes out too fast!! ...but seriously for a busy but not crowded time I was there over a half-hour wait for a burger and things from the deep fryer is silly.
