Went here for the first time today and really enjoyed the ambience and the food here. It is a nice bar / restaurant and they do have a decent selection of cocktails, wine and other drinks on the menu. They also have a normal menu and a tapas menu in case you are hungry but not enough to have a main meal. We tried the BBQ Jack Daniels Quesadilla, the meat balls and the rosti. All three dishes tasted good and the flavours were really nice. The quesadilla was a bit too sweet for my liking but that did not stop me from demolishing the dish ;-)) Service is very good and they were quite attentive for the time we were there. The atmosphere of the place is also very nice and I can see myself here again sipping a cocktail or a glass of wine on a warm or cold day and enjoying some nice tapas. Will definitely come back here again and try some of the food from the main menu. My only issue with this place was having to pay €9.50 for a G&T :-( read more

This small cocktail place in Schwabing is popular among expats. I guess expats like cocktails. They do serve some very tasty ones here. The drink list is creative and extensive, and to its credit includes several dry cocktails rather than just the usual assortment of sugary fruity nonsense you'll find at less impressive bars. There's a limited food menu as well, but nothing I've eaten there sticks out in my memory as particularly good or bad (although it's possible that I've just been too many cocktails in to appreciate it fully). In nice weather, the entire front wall of the Potting Shed opens up, and a few tables spill out onto the sidewalk. Reservations are a good idea for this small locale, especially if you're in a group of more than 4. read more

Oh. My. GAWWWWWWD!! I love this little gem of a restaurant/lounge. First, they mix some really interesting cocktails, including some with their own homemade liquor! While I always try to support local cuisine and products, I won't if it/they don't taste good. THESE TASTE GOOD! Things got a little blurry, so I'm not sure what all I tried. I will say this: once I had gotten over my disappointment in the Old Fashioned that they mixed for me (faaar too sweet, too watery, used soda without asking if I preferred soda or water), and started dibbling and dabbling with the pisco and splishing splashing with their home mixes, I was, to quote Olaf from "Frozen", a "happy snowman!" The music here is great too, which really sets a calming but not sleep-inducing chill ambience. If you make your reservation early enough, you can take the rear "lounge area" - there is only one booth - for a large gathering of guests, say, for birthday drinks, or a reenactment of "Sex and the City". For food, you're probably going to be seated on stools at raised tables. If that doesn't jiggle your jones, you might want to specify in your reservation that you'd like a normal/low table. I've mentioned the word "reservation" a couple times now. This is a hint. If you would like to patronise this establishment for anything more than early evening drinks, make sure one of the tables has your name on it. Otherwise, as was my experience, you'll be giving wistful puppy dog eyes to the next table over as they chow down on amazing smelling grub whilst you pack up your inebriated ass cheeks to go grub somewhere else. "....and it's one. two. three strikes your out, at the ol' baaall gaaaaame" I'm sad to report that after my third less-than-stellar visit to The Potting Shed, I have finally brought myself to write a review. The menu to me is just odd. I have no other word for it really.....tapas and burgers...sounds like it would be a good mix, but it somehow doesn't work here. I've gone with the same friend every time and we've both said the same thing, "Why is everything falling apart?" Whether it's a burger bun or greasy quesadilla, we have never left satisfied with the food. The drinks on the cocktail menu are about 90% ice and 10% the drink you ordered. This has consistently been the case for me. I learned my lesson the third time, so I did not order a cocktail. Instead, to celebrate my friend getting a new job offer, we ordered a round of lemon drop shots. The bartender said he had never heard of this. No biggie...we were super excited to share with him the simple recipe for this awesome shot. However, he wouldn't put regular granulated sugar on the rim of the shot glass. He insisted on powdered sugar, which as soon as it hit the wit shot glass turned into a gooey mess. I can't judge The Potting Shed on my own personal shot preferences, but I can judge on their obvious disinterest in not catering to customers. For a place that has never been that crowded when I'm there, it blows my mind how bad the service is. I could rant forever about this, but just trust me....it's bad service. I hate putting places on my "2 star and below black list", but The Potting Shed has now been added, and there ain't no comin' back from that! read more

I felt compelled to create a yelp account to inform the world of the horrible service at this place. Having travelled to dozens of countries, being subjected to my rudest service experience ever is quite a feat. I should start by making clear that the bartender/waiter seemed nice enough; it was rather the (presumed) owner who didn't seem to quite grasp the concept of 'customer'. I was in a small group, we came in and were seated at a table; there was still some room for more people, had more customers required seating. I personally didn't want to get a drink, but the others in the group ordered. Now, I can understand the thinking behind a policy whereby if you're taking up space in a packed bar, you should order a drink. I've never actually experienced such a policy, however, and in fact have been to a number of places that will give free non-alcoholic beverages to those who don't want to order anything alcoholic (because they might be a designated driver, for example). But I can understand the logic behind it, and if politely informed that it was the policy of the bar that if you're taking up the space of someone waiting for a seat, you need to buy a drink, I would be happy enough to make a purchase. That's not how events unfolded, however. Instead, though there were still free seats in the venue, and no-one was walking in demanding to sit in them, the owner rudely demanded that I buy a drink. Contempt and disdain were all too perceptible as he sneered at the notion that a member of a group would dare accompany others who wished to have a cocktail. At first I didn't think he was serious, naturally assuming an owner would not treat patrons as such. He must be trying to be funny in his own weird way, I thought. But it quickly dawned on me, as the owner exuded as much impatience as humanly possible, that humour was the last thing on this bloke's mind. Now, if that doesn't sound all that bad, it may be the result of an inability to translate the sheer insolence displayed into words, but to be clear, it is the impoliteness rather than the business policy itself with which I am concerned. I was in a bit of a state of shock by this stage, not quite knowing how to respond to a demand that I pay for something I didn't want, for no apparent or logical reason. I decided to not walk out, but rather to buy the cheapest thing on the menu, seeing as my companions had already ordered. So I asked for a tequila. I thought it could get no worse, but alas I was wrong, for although the bartender/waiter appeared to have no other orders requiring his attention, it took more than five minutes for the shot to be poured and transported a full two metres from the bar to the table. I was here meeting up with a friend and our experience was not good at all. It was a midweek evening and it wasn´t really full. When we wanted to enter the bar, a person - and as we later found out it was the owner - stood in the middle of the doorway, outside, busy waving away other people and hardly made an attempt to step aside to let us in. American guests be warned: asking for tab water can be quite a bit of a deal here! I had to ask three times until I got it, that means in German "Better buy a Water here". And in a very unfriendly way I was later on told "Burgers are out." - after a surprised "Oh really? Pity!" I got another annoyed "kitchen´s closed, no burgers". My friend made a point later on when we were about to leave, and let him know in a very friendly way that we were not happy with the service here at all. We were almost yelled at (yes, in front of other guests!) and in a very grumpy way he mentioned we maybe should go somewhere else then. Living in this corner for quite a while but as well abroad I just was very surprised how rude some people - who are for sure not originally from Munich! but more from the eastern part of the country - can be here. the Cocktails taste ok but dont expect to get drunk on them.. like the city's average they are overpriced and u are better off with something else..then the location is nice but I would not come back for the service is really! bad..and the place serves more as a Bavarian Trachten hot spot.. read more
