I knew of this place based off a post I saw in a Facebook group called Bay Area Eats. I believe the manager said that there was a grand opening special where you can get a choice of two pupusas and a drink for a promo price. I was really hungry the other day and decided to do DoorDash delivery and try these pupusas out. The promo price for the 2 pupusas and drink were $7 online for delivery (it may be different in person). so I opted to get two orders for my fiancé and I. We were only able to select either 2 queso pupusas or 1 queso + 1 chicharrones, so we opted for the second option. The pupusas came by pretty quick since I live near the area. Inside each container came with utensils, curtido, and salsa. I have to say that these pupusas are pretty good! These are on the smaller side, but maybe my next order I'll opt to get an additional 2 more. Nonetheless, the chicharron was probably my favorite. Absolutely love the flavor of this one!! It wasn't overly salty or greasy either. The queso one was great as well. Definitely love the how the cheese oozed out in some areas and developed a cheese crust. The curtido had such a fresh and clean taste and didn't linger after I was done eating. The salsa itself was pretty flavorful and went really well with everything! I would absolutely love a spicy version if that's available. The portion sizes for these two were perfect. It was just the right amount for me to use both up. Saturday evening decision. I wanted pupusas. Looked on doordash, and found this place. Bam! L O C A T I O N: now this isn't a sit down or a restaurant at all. this is one of those ghost kitchens. (fun fact: when shelter in place was going on, and i wanted to order food, this location was where i was told to go to. Small world.) A generous amount of parking spots to be found, but finding a way to enter can be a challenge if "turning left" from Washington (double yellow and traffic....not a fun combo) F O O D: I ordered the "grand opening special." which was the chicharron pupusa and the cheese pupusa, and a can of soda. Actually, they were out of the chicharron pupusa, and so i was given more mini-queso pupusas to offset the lack of it. i'll take it. (apparently 200+ pupusas were had today. which is great for them!) Both styles of pupusas were good. The pupusas could have had some cheese on the outside to add to that crunch so many are familiar with. Cheese pull was on point. The shape of the pupusas were all uniform in circle which was interesting since i am used to many circular shapes. it was greasy, but not heavy in any sense. (I wonder if there will be other types of pupusas in the future. ahhem...i love me lorocco pupusas. the curtido was okay. it seemed to not be fully fermented. it had a pinkish hue to it, so maybe red wine vinegar was used? It was more liquid than veggies. I would pass on it next time. S E R V I C E: The food was prepared in a timely manner. When there wasn't an item because it was out, i got a call and an offer and the guy I interacted with was cordial. upon arrival - you need to look for the A-frame sign (on the lift) which had a ring doorbell to call for pick up. i wont be using the catering services any time soon, but maybe i might in the near future should i have an event. I don't think they're doing their $5 grand opening special anymore. Called in our order specifically for the grand opening special and we were charged $7/per order (2 pupusas and soda). Happy to support a small biz, just wish we knew up front. I'm impressed that these could come in mini and bigger sizes. One of mine was small, so they gave me an extra mini. I usually like the chicharron, but got the cheese and pork separately. I definitely prefer the cheese one. This spot is in the back of Planet Fitness. Such a lovely experience having The Pupuseria to cater my event, that I found myself struggling to put into words just how great they were! They are punctual, efficient, and so easy to work with. Prompt communication prior to the event, very accommodating to our endless requests. We had an exploratory meeting before the event; not only did they bring us pipping hot delicious samples of their pupusas, they came prepared with their menu, pricing & etc. during the meeting which was extremely helpful for planning purposes. And professional of them! They assisted us by catering one of our biggest events of the year. They came to set up a couple hours early, clean, tidy and all ready before our guests arrive. We had The Pupuseria Team to do the last part of the cooking on-site, they had a hot plate and were serving fresh and delicious pupusas all afternoon! They were also able to pivot and adopt some of our guests' dietary requirements on the spot. Everything circulated so efficiently, and the pupusas were flying off the table! Ordered a dozen papusas via their website. 8 pork 4 cheese. Comes with red sauce and the cabbage slaw to go with the papusas. Also ordered the elote corn. My order was ready right on time! Everything was tasty! My family and I ate everything. My only negative thought (not a huge deal to most) was I wish the papusas had just a little more filling. My mom and I tried this pupusa place for the first time and it was sooo worth it. The best pupusas we've ever had and we tried their quesabirria pupusas and they were so amazing and worth the price! This is an amazing little spot! I wouldn't say it's traditional Salvadoran I would say it's more of a Salvadorian American fusion with hints of tex mex. Their mini Pupusas were great the masa wasn't too soft or soggy and held up well after adding the sauce and curtido. Their curtido was a nice change because they definitely took some of the comments and improved their recipe. It was balanced and dynamic in the sense that you could feel some of the oils and it neutralized some of the heavy vinegar acidity. Not to mention that I had bacon and cheese on the inside and it was absolutely shmackin. Their menu didn't offer anything other than just cheese or cheese and bacon hence the American fusion in my opinion. I just picked up a dozen pupusas, half chicharrons and half quesabirrias and received a few queso ones (thank you!). The smell was absolutely amazing. (At a certain point on 280, I was tempted to pull over and sample one or two before making my way home.) We topped them with the crunchy curtido and salsa. The quesabirrias had a perfect cheesy crust that gave it an extra depth of flavor. I also ordered a side of elote corn and wish I placed two orders of it! It was perfect with the pupusas. So I ordered Cheese Pupusas, Birria Pupusas & a Chicharron Pupusa on Jan 24th. My husband & I weren't impressed. There wasn't enough filling and the meat lacked flavor. The meat in the birria pupusas are said to be slow cooked in traditional Mexican spices, but the meat was bland. Also the pupusas were small compared to other pupusas I've had for the same price. The salsa and curtido was alright. Not sure if I would ever buy these again unless if they season their meat and add more filling in their pupusas. Sucks, I really wanted to love it. read more

Where do I start. Found them on Ig and thought to myself, "nice a pupusas place that does good looking pupusas like my mom does them" (size wise) Zocalo in SSF does them big and usually greasy. Gave this place a try and ordered through DoorDash. Got the 6 pupusas and 6 mini pupusas for my daughter. Got them fairly quick and tried them out. One chicharrón and one queso pupusas. No flavor at all. Chicharrón had no taste. Nothing. Masa was ok but lacked flavor too. Had the queso pupusas and same. No flavor. Oh the cheese pull that don't matter if the taste ain't there. Seen the curtido looking good so gave it a try. Same, no flavor. Pure water tasting and lacking vinegar. One review said no lingering taste yea because there is no vinegar. More water then vinegar in there curtido. I don't usually eat the red salsa but fave it a try. Nothing special there. 6mini pupusas we're fine. They look cute cus of their size. My daughter mostly at the cheese. Asked to have 3 chicharrón and 3 queso but only made 6 queso mini pupusas. Hope they can turn it around and add my flavor to their food. Balompie in the city is my goto for great pupusas beside my mom making some. Plus no loroco in their queso pupusas. That for sure will give it a better taste.
