((4.25 stars)) slender stylish store of vintage Americana parked on Bowery selling a variety of vintage menswear items from military clothing items to Ts to hoodies and sweatshirts to footwear to classic workwear and more. there's also a variety of guitars and such adorning the back of the store. it's very much a tour through culture in the good old days of the USA from 50s to the 80s. the items are curated and from my experiences (twice) in very good wearable condition and priced accordingly. the prices do lean on the higher side but you're not going to find these types of items collected and curated in one place to peruse in-person. the more one-of-a-kind the clothing piece...obviously the higher the price...like a vintage workwear (Carhartt adjacent) jacket might run in the ~$1000 or higher range, but you will likely not find that item anywhere else in great condition. ended up landing on a field jacket in such good condition, here and bought it because it fit well and it had that feel-good worn-in condition. though i paid a little more than if hunted it online...you can't put a price tag on seeing an item in person, trying it own, etc. and knowing it fits VERSUS shopping online and gambling that the pictures on a website are accurate; that the measurements are accurate; and will fit. this is why shopping actual brick-and-mortar stores stays winning. the service is friendly, not pretentious, and helpful (ask q's!). will definitely stop again as the store offers an experience to shop for unique items from American culture and beyond. read more

So overpriced it's not even funny. I'm talking tshirts are $80-$300 mostly around $150 for a 1980s Harley Davidson T-shirt with a few choice holes in it. If you want vintage go to L train vintage. In Brooklyn not Manhattan. Fun to browse but if you don't have a trust fund steer clear! read more

The Quality Mending Company is at it again: they're selling the "Sandy" tote, of heavy canvas in a variety of colors and sizes. Originally $95, they're selling it for $40, with all proceeds going to the Hurricane Sandy relief effort. Christmas is coming, and this is a great, well-made tote with comfortable leather handles. While you're at it, get some Otter Wax to waterproof it with; Otter Wax is a non-toxic wax you apply to items like raincoats and hats with a hairdryer--or you heat the canned version in a pan of water on the stove. I did my canvas shoes yesterday and stuck them in the freezer for an hour to speed the curing process. This store sells things you didn't know you needed! read more

Vintage Store Spree take 2 of 5: Once again, kick ass. The thing about Eleven is the sole fact that its 90% mens stuff. YES. Good good good... Now, for the damage. Their selection is impressive, however its verrrrrrrrrrrry western. Lotsa leather, lotsa cowboy boots. But its interesting how they clash that store with the very contrasting glass counter featuring Comme Des Garcons wallets. It was quite refreshing seeing another more unknown store carrying Comme stuff. I kinda felt that this place was a little bit too western for me, however, their selection of ties, bow ties and belts were quite impressive. Unfortunately their bow ties were only clip-ons (which sucks, because they were really nice looking bow-ties)... I still give them a 5 however. Definitely worth the trip. read more

This is the quintessential vintage shop. It's small but packed with tons of goods and it has a great selection of men's and women's clothing, accessories, shoes, everything. When I stopped in, I was looking for something to take home to my very stylish younger sister who is thin and beautiful and likes vintage clothing. After being totally saddened by other vintage stores that had that strange Salvation Army smell and overwhelming amounts of grandma sweaters, I was so pleasantly surprised by Eleven. The owner happened to be there and when he saw me perusing through their summer dresses (or "frocks" as he called them in his very cool Irish accent), he announced to the whole store that they were all now only $25. SWEET DEAL, especially since most of them were NY-priced at $70+. I swiped an adorable summer "frock" for my sister at an amazing price and had to use all the willpower I could to not buy up all the cool belt buckles, wallets, pins, and jewelry in the counter shelves. Definitely worth checking out... and the owner is a riot to talk to... very sweet, funny, and knowledgeable. read more

Love this store! They have some neat items, most notably (in my head) are the socks that are used to make sock monkeys. They have all the different colors and I have never found another store that sold them. Sure they're $8/pair but my only other option is ordering them online. No thanks. The employees are friendly but I think things are overpriced for what they actually should be seeing as how it's secondhand ('vintage' 'used') but the location rocks and actually being able to find those socks, darn it....I've been in twice so far and I know I'll be back again! read more

Before or after Cafe Habana, I make my way to Eleven. Hmm.. hopefully it's BEFORE I stuff my face at Cafe Habana, so I can fit into some clothes....I always find some great stuff at this boutique. The ladies selection is a bit scarce compared to the dudes, but there are some great finds. The pieces here are pricey. I've bought a couple boots here, and I still where them.. so it justifies it! The most aggravating thing is on a hot day, with tons of shopping bags in your hands, the tiny boutique can get crowded, and you feel exhausted and it unwilling to shop. read more

What a great shop! Of course, located just blocks from my sister's house, but great little find. What caught my eye were the designer shoes in the window! And then once inside, a ton more to tickle all your fancies. I was looking for some boots, but found high heels that I couldn't get myself to buy because this girl needs some boots! Grey and natural colored ones damn it! Unlucky I was, but my sister found a fab pin! She sported the next day. Once back in town, I will for sure return to see what delectable's they will have. Vintage is cool and all- but I usually hold back on actual purchases. However, I have bought two belts here (they go with everything too) and a pair of cowboy boots. Which I kind of regret. Don't know what I was thinking. I haven't worn them once. Which is not to say that they're ugly or anything...they're not...it's just...I'm not a cowboy boots person AT ALL...what WAS I thinking? There were lots of good fancy dress options here. A lot of the clothes were rumpled or wrinkled, but the selection was vast (in sizes, price points, and types of items) and one should be able to find a must-have during a visit. I got a super cute Laundry sundress for only $20 and, yes, it needs to be ironed, but at that price, you can't complain! read more

How many pairs of cowboy boots does the average cowboy go through in the course of a year? That's the question I ask myself every time one of my friends asks me about the holes in my foot wear. Sure I wear them all year round and I certainly get my moneys worth but seriously, how many pairs of boots does your average "urban cowboy" need annually? I have a feeling I'll never have a true answer to my question but in the mean time I'll continue buying my gently worn boots at Eleven. This store is fully loaded with all things vintage. It's sorts of like your eclectic, wealthy and recently deceased neighbors estate sale, right there in the heart of Nolita. T-shirts, jeans, trousers, sweaters, sneakers, belts, blah, blah, blah. I really dig Eleven. The owners even had the presence of mind to have artist Rich Jacobs paint a large amounts of one of a kind pieces for the store front and web site. The next time you're in Nolita waiting for the grilled corn at Cafe Habana you should poke your head into Eleven. For the record the only thing that stopped this place from receiving a 5 star rating was the fact that they did away with the $5 T-shirt rack. I miss my cheap T-shirts. read more

I bought a duffel for my boyfriend three years ago that we both loved. It has started falling apart and when we took it back to the store to ask about getting it fixed, they wouldn't do anything for us. They no longer make the bag, they won't repair the bag, and when I asked if they would cover the cost of getting it repaired elsewhere, I was told the store isn't doing well and they can't be doing that sort of thing. Excuse me for asking you to stand behind your products, which are not cheap! Love the way so many of their things look, but would have expected higher quality. read more
