Each year for the past 5 years (I've lost track now) we have contracted Do an Event (better known as Kevin Cohee) to handle our complex tent setup on the south steps of the Capitol building. Hundreds of legislators and staffers pour in for 4 hours to experience the sights and comfort of the beauty industry environment that Do an Event creates for us each year. Each year Kevin brings a unique twist and look to the tent on the steps...always intimate, fun, and fashion forward. The name of our event is "Welcome to Our World" better known in the beauty industry as the 'WOW' event. Aside from the wonderful stylists, estheticians and nail technicians that serve our guests, the staff of Do an Event is an integral part of why WOW becomes even more WOW every year. Every detail of our event is anticipated and handled with grace and ease. Kevin makes my job easy. It's great to be a hero to our client, and in great part it's Kevin's hard work that makes us appear so. I see another reviewer said they give 110%. I'd score even higher.     Words are not enough to express the level of customer service we experienced with Shelah and her…read moreamazing staff. From my initial inquiry, Shelah was responsive and helpful. The original date was taken, but she called me back to let me know the date had become available, which immediately showed her attention to detail and willingness to support. I was given one month to source a venue that met all of my client's requirements, and this event space offered that and more. My client needed a venue close enough to the conference location, while also being accessible for guests traveling on their own. 1422 The Blvd checked those boxes. Let's start with communication. Shelah was prompt, helpful, and willing to work around the clock to ensure all of my questions were answered in a timely manner. The client portal was also great. Everything from scheduling a virtual tour to booking an in-person tour was simple. I was able to view the property through the 360-degree venue tour, which honestly sold me. When I arrived for the in-person tour, I was curious how it would work since I am used to touring with a site manager. But I simply texted Shelah, the door opened, and we stayed on the call while she helped orient me through the space and answer my questions. The venue was clean, open, and an easy blank canvas for about 100 guests comfortably if seated. What I really liked was the option to merge the indoor and outdoor space with the beautiful glass garage door. I wish we could have used it for this event, but we plan to come back next year and hope to open the space up then. They also have ample parking, with overflow parking behind a beautiful wooden gate that is closed off from the public. I especially appreciated that the private entry was able to accommodate an executive coach bus for 36 passengers. That was a logistical concern for us, but Shelah and her staff helped provide the best route to prevent congestion on the main street. Having her staff onsite was extremely helpful. I also appreciated that we did not have to source outside equipment rentals. The venue offers rentals at an additional cost, and if you know anything about planning events, you know delivery and pickup fees can add up quickly. Having rentals onsite helped us avoid those extra fees and created a cost savings of a few hundred dollars. I would definitely recommend using their in-house rentals. They also use HoneyBook to manage contracts, invoices, communication, and rentals, which made the process easy and organized. On the day of the event, we hired Shelah's staff to assist with setup. A lot of our staff were coming from out of the area and did not have the capacity to assist with setup. I shared with my client that utilizing the venue staff would save us time, and I'm so glad we did. We were able to share our desired floorplan, receive feedback on the best layout, and arrive to the event with everything already set up. All we had to do was place arrangements on the tables and set up the welcome sign. All vendors arrived before both my client and I did, and with remote access, they were able to set up before our arrival, which made the day run smoothly. This venue is truly a hidden gem. The pricing was competitive for the value, and the location is excellent--central to downtown, about 8 minutes from Arden Mall, and approximately 10-12 minutes from downtown Sacramento. I look forward to working with Shelah and her team again and will definitely be sending clients her way.

Wedding Planning is more than you have ever imagined and it is everything like Bridezillas and nothing like David Tuitera (spelling). It is more than overwellming in more ways than one. I am more than thankful for having Aimee because she has made it all fun and positive, even my guests of 400 list. She works with the best of the best vendors and through your process you will be reminded of that constantly. In my opinion, having a wedding planner was a necessity and one I would advise other brides to have, even if it means scaling back on other costs for your wedding reception. For me personally, having a wedding planner was the difference between me just being able to "pull off" my reception and me being able to enjoy it. To save some money, I hired KWE for month of/day of coordination rather than full event planning (though they were available from the get-go for contract help, referrals and all-around advice). The month before my event, Kate swooped in and took care of all the details: designing the layout of the venue, coordinating with the vendors, etc. The week before, day before and the day of she took care of everything! She picked up supplies, was on hand to greet and coordinate with other vendors, did setup and cleanup, delivered items to my house after the reception, helped keep the party on track and so much more! I am not sure if there were any snafus (though I am sure there were, how couldn't there have been?) because if there were, she took care of them on the spot. She even jumped into action when I spilled red wine on my gown early in the evening. I really, really, really cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it was to have Kate and her team on board. I strongly advise you to consider hiring her for your event.

We don't often leave reviews for other vendors (though we should) but we wanted to specifically point out a few things about Makenna that were noteworthy: *Her communication and organization before the wedding was superb. She was very clear and concise and her timeline was super detailed and well organized (we cannot say the same about all timelines we get from planners) *On the day of the event, she was very composed and relaxed! This may seem like a strange thing to point out, but this is the mark of someone who is good at what they do. It's not that she is "chill" or "doesn't care" it's because she's done her legwork and due diligence before the event to make sure that the day of goes smoothly *She goes above and beyond! There were a few venue issues that were solely the fault of the venue and no one else, Makenna immediately stepped in to help rectify these. She even got in her car and did a run to grab ice mid event (who does that???). Overall she is a true pro and made our day (and our client's wedding) amazing! If you're considering her as a wedding planner you can feel confident knowing she will take the time and care to make sure you have the celebration you deserve!

They are organized, kind, and incredibly experienced! They are literally some of the best in the game and have a list of certified vendors in every area they work in, so each vendor they connect you with is also excellent. They helped us bring our vision to life while bringing up details neither of us had considered. My husband and I saw everything we'd planned with Makenna be executed beautifully on the day of, and were kept blissfully in the dark about any stressful situations that may have happened on wedding day! They are truly professional--my only regret is not booking them for a full planning package. :)
