The Railway is a Clapham North locals' favourite. Ask someone who likes it and lives near it where they live and they will certainly say Clapham North not simply Clapham. It's a prideful community thing that North likes to disassociate itself from its Common neighbour, whilst keeping a safe distance from Stockwell too. It veers slightly more towards Brixton in its feel, which the Railway is an example of. Much more casual than your average Clapham haunt, the pub has a community charm that is evident instantly. Downstairs gets really busy at the weekends so try and nab yourself a seat upstairs. The staff are lovely too.

The Railway is a great local pub! The atmosphere and comfy couches create the perfect vibe for a few drinks on a Friday or Saturday night. Okay it's pretty cool on other nights as well. I have to admit, I have wandered into the pub on a week day and curled up on a couch and enjoyed a glass of wine unwinding after a long day. I do like going to the Railway on a night out. There is a cool downstairs area but I always grab a table upstairs because it can get really crowded. This is the perfect pub if you want a bit of local Clapham North flavour! Plus the location is a great jumping off point for venturing out into Clapham or down to Brixton!

Decent local. Food is fine. Crowd is fairly relaxed. A good escape from the other meat market bars on Clapham High Street.

We were seated right away and ordered a burger, which came with red coleslaw and French fries. The burger was cooked well and was delicious. The French fries were just as good. The restaurant was clean, and although busy, the staff was attentive and friendly. A shout-out to Ellis, who was our hostess, server, and even our tour guide all in one! He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and made our experience even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a great burger in London with excellent service and a welcoming atmosphere, Red Lion is definitely worth a visit!

Very busy, but thankfully they have a second floor. We had a reservation and seated upstairs. Love the look and the vibe. I of course went with fish and chips and was thrilled at how good it was. My wife had garlic chicken and loved it. They have a full line up of beer, but because of the surprise heat wave went with water. There are lots of pubs to choose from, but The Red Lion has political history and even surprise visitors that come by.
