So many floors! So much to do. Great spot indoors for those rainy days in Vancouver. Good place to just chill and watch a game with a drink.

My friends and I were looking for something to do on a Saturday afternoon so we decided to go to Rec Room since they had never been before. Because we went there around 3PM it was pretty empty! We spent most of our time on their bottom floor at the mini putt area. It was nice because we had the whole place to ourselves. It's a really good vibe down there for sure!

    Lettuce "wraps". Not good.

I recommend the games but the restaurant really needs to step up. We came on a Saturday at noon and there was us and another table. We got the Corn Ribs, Lettuce Wraps (sub crispy tofu that hey use in the crispy tofu bowl), and truffle fries. The corn ribs were delicious but it stops there. The lettuce "wraps" was a wedge of lettuce (see pic). They did not use the crispy tofu and the amount of puffed rice was too much. We removed half of it in the pic! The fries were soggy and barely warm. It was not good. I feel like they are hit and miss at the restaurant.

Fun place for something to do in downtown! There's a restaurant on the main floor, arcade games upstairs, and mini golf in the basement. I went on a Saturday at 5 PM and there were lots of kids there. It's a different vibe if you go late at night. They also have lots of promos for certain days of the week that make it a better deal. Daily happy hour with $5 wine for 6 ounces!!

The Rec Room (entertainment centre) opened today in downtown Vancouver. Metro Vancouver was first introduced to The Rec Room via it's first opening at The Amazing Brentwood Mall, in Burnaby. Located on the Granville Mall, this particular area has been crying out for years to come alive & into the 21st Century or rather how about just 2024!?! What do I mean - Vancouver gets constantly called out for how dull it is downtown - not enough Nite life & late night eating spots. Back in the heyday ala 70s & 80s including somewhat into the early 90s, the Granville Mall was the place to be & be seen. Nite clubs, restaurants, bowling, arcades, etcetera all made downtown funky & the place to be. Then after the mid 90s, it went all quiet, sleepy & absolutely boring. Kudos to the Rec Room for wanting to 'liven' up the downtown core. The Rec Room is comprised of three levels & is bright & colourful in decor. Come here for the games, live music, bowling, virtual reality, pool tables, eats + drinks, & to escape from work, especially if work is downtown for you. Great for groups (private party rooms available), couples & families. Keep in mind that the Granville Mall itself tends to attract a Hastings St (downtown eastside) type of crowd - so be aware of your surroundings when walking here along the mall. You will definitely want to leave the car at home - take transit or uber to get here. Bring lots of cash as it's pricey.

I asked to speak with a supervisor. Was transferred to Drea(?). I asked if she was the supervisor and she said, "kind of? yeah i was sort of made a supervisor at our team meeting last week, so I guess so? So, what do you want?" I asked if this was professional, the tone and attitude she was showing. She said in a defensive tone, "what? I'm trying to help you and you won't let me help you, so how can I help you?" She continued being defensive and talked over me when I tried explaining Misaki's attitude to her, so I hung up. Absolutely unprofessional. Will not be taking our camps here. Management needs to hire more suitable staff.

The place hasn't been renovated in decades. It's like stepping into a time machine. The main floor lanes are the usual 10-pin, while the upstairs level is cosmic (black light everywhere) 5-pin. There are 12 lanes on each floor. Each lane can support up to 5 players. They do sell drinks (including beer) as well as snacks such as hot dogs and chips. The venue can get a bit cramped when the space fills up. Something to keep in mind.

There are plenty of lanes for bowling along with pool tables and some arcade games. The name of the game here is 5 pin bowling. It's a fun and relaxing experience. Pricing is fairly decent and won't break the bank. I had a great time bowling here. I can't wait to come back with friends and play more games.

Since they only have 5 pin bowling and they didn't allow us to drink by the bowling area, we decided to play billiards instead. It was around $22/hr for each table. They had multiple tables that were really close to each other which made it tough to play. I would recommend them to space their tables out more so that players are not bumping into each other and have enough room to play. They also did not have a water fountain at the venue so I asked their bar if I could get a glass of water. They said that we have to pay for it and they would only take cash. I wasn't looking to buy a bottle of water, just wanted a glass with tap water. But they said that we would have to pay for the cups, luckily my friend had some change so I was able to get water. I feel like for such a big venue space that serves alcohol, serving a glass of tap water shouldn't be such a big ask. The service was ok!

For tourists, the relatively new Holiday Inn right on No.5 Road is convenient. Wonder what's going to replace Gold's Gym. Wish there were a few more restos to choose from, other than the pub Stanley's above the rink or Spaghetti factory & the Raven's Pub--probably being picky lol. Because of the movie specials on Tuesdays, family day, plus the usual craziness on Fri/Sat nites, expect parking congestion. Sometimes I can avoid the traffic by turning in the side street before the main entrance where the hotel is. Or the cul de sac by water mania. amazingly, there's regular bus service here.
