We found that and so much more at Grace Christian Academy. The classical Christian approach utilized at GCA not only challenges our children, but has molded them into so much more than what we bargained for. We've noticed changes in character, maturity, discipline as well as a dramatic change their work ethic as well. The work load at GCA is heavy and extremely challenging, but also well balanced and geared toward equipping a child's mind to becoming not only successful as an adult, but impacting the world through the eyes of God's Word. No school I know of employs such a curriculum quite like GCA. We are very thankful to God to be able to send our children there. Their staff is on par with excellence.

Several students took us around and showed us all the classrooms including Nursery (full day and half day - 2 separate classes). We were able to ask questions directly to the students, speak with the teachers and see the teacher interact with children. At the end of the open house, the Principal shared the school's vision, mission and goals. She also mentioned to us that several 8th graders were accepted at top high schools in New York including Townsend Harris High School and Stuyvesant High School. This school has up to 20 students per class. They have an early drop off and late pick up program, but they do not offer lunch. Parents can sign up children to take different classes (tennis, hockey, etc) during the after school program.

The teachers are very well-qualified, responsive to the children (they "meet the kids where they are") and assign an appropriate / varying levels of homework.  The small size of the very diverse student body (less than 400 kids from early childhood (3 years old) to eighth grade allows each student to know one another and to be known by the teachers/administrators.  There are never any "back to school nerves" at our house!  Excellent music program, afterschool enrichment classes + afterschool care available.  Though we have very good public schools in the area, there is no comparison to the quality of what SSCA provides.  Easy to access on F, G train (lots of kids travel on public transportation/school bus).  Kids have time outside either in an "open streets" access or via a short walk to Prospect Park.  Very devoted parents/alumni.  Current 8th grade class has received a small fortune in scholarships to top Catholic + specialized high schools.  A gem of a school.  Check it out!

There is a strong anti-bullying policy which is necessary in all schools. If you put enough children of the same age in the same room there are always issues no matter what school they attend. What matters is how the issues are handled on an administrative level. In my experience, I have no complaints about the administrative department and its workers including the principal. My child loves her school and could not see herself going anywhere else but Holy Child Jesus Catholic Academy through graduation.

This school,…read morediscriminates against any child with ADHD, learning disabilities, or any other condition that requires extra help in the classroom. They do not want these types of students and will treat your child unfairly as a way to push you out. The bullying is ridiculous and some of the teachers are just as bad as the children when it comes to bullying students. Some teachers just yell all day, others inappropriately yap about their personal love lives to the students when they should be teaching class. However, this school, and more specifically the principal, also has a serious problem with favoritism and if you are not someone who has multiple generations of family who attended this school, has plenty of free time to volunteer, or a ton of money to donate then good luck to you. Your concerns will not be taken seriously. I had such a bad experience with this school that I have been turned off from Catholic education all together. I thought the smaller school setting would be better for my child, however the small setting was just a catalyst for cliques to develop and a "no new kids wanted" mentality.

Dear Mr. Friedman & Ms. Dina, I hope you are well at the end of this most unusual school year. As an educator who transitioned all four of my college courses to remote learning mid-semester, I know firsthand how challenging and time-consuming it has been. Nevertheless, Beth Jacob responded with its trademark thoughtfulness, diligence and care, and I wanted to thank you all for the wonderful job you have done. In fact, over the past four years, both my children found in Beth Jacob the ideal first step to embark on their educational journeys. More specifically, I'd like to thank Ms. Stacey and Ms. Olga for their incredible work this year. Ms. Stacey, by every measure, is a first-rate educator who brought to each class (both in-person and online) a winning combination of structure and sweetness. After classes went remote, I had the rare pleasure of observing Ms. Stacey's teaching on a daily basis, and always walked away impressed by her patience, preparedness and care. It is no easy feat to keep four and five-year-old children seated at a laptop, let alone learning! It should be noted that Ms. Olga was exceptional as well. She not only brought her great artistic gifts and a bilingual element to the class, but exuded a warmth and generosity which, along with Ms. Stacey, established the classroom community as a place of safety and kindness for all. While it breaks my heart that my son's Pre-K year was modified due to the Coronavirus pandemic, my wife and I can't be anything but grateful for the time our children spent in your care. Sincerely, Jared Harel-

I always prefer earlier service. I especially love the praise and worship sessions here! Like most full gospel Churches, even if you don't know some (or all lol) of the lyrics to the songs, there are big screens with them so you can follow and sing to your heart's content. They have a lovely choir and this Sunday's song worship leaders were four young adults with amazing vocals. Sometimes I get carried away and dance a bit too much but hey...when the spirt moves right. I follow this Church on social media as well. I appreciate that even though I'm unable to attend a concert or a session they always release videos and other information so I'm updated. The inspirational messages are a huge help as well. Whenever I'm home I and I have a ride you can find me here on Sundays. Praise God.

Truly enjoyed this concert that was a wedding anniversary gift to my honey & I with VIP seats. I drained my phone taking videos but it was worth it. The church is beautiful and large. It has a balcony also. Large attached parking lot. Food sold in the lobby. We've attended this church for service a couple of years ago and was blessed by the sermon. If you're ever in the area come and experience the Sunday service.
