There are 3 staff that work at the Brant Street location and all of them are terrific, if you haven't experienced this store before check it out on a Friday which is the day when you get free dog treats if you bring your dog into the location with NO PURCHASE necessary. Be warned the prices on much of the products in the store are rather expensive but that is because the quality of the product is above what you will find at most locations however there are several decent products to buy which are rather cheap such as their individual cookies, pig ears and raw or baked marrow bones which are three of my dogs favorite treats. They also price match, once confirmed they will match the price of a competitor for identical items. This location also offers a full self-washing facility complete with a locking door and locking gate for their tub which is large enough to accommodate several hundred pounds of dog (it makes me 102 pound lab look small). Do yourself a favor and experience what Mike and others have to offer at this location and I'm sure you'll keep coming back specifically to say hello to them and just be in a friendly environment.

Their crickets, meal worms and super worms all look a bit....dead. on top of being over priced. The small containers they are in are to blame, however, I can't blame the containers for lack of food either. Although gross insects, they need to be fed in order for them to be healthy for reptiles to consume. The beta fish always make me sad. However, this is most stores. The containers they are in are too small, however, this location I can't really blame them. They have a lot of stuff for how cramped the space is. They do have a lot of pet food options and have an adoptable kitty in the front. They just can't really keep things for reptiles. However, their small animal and bird selection is fairly decent, and they seem to have a lot for small animals, which is nice to see.

Due to Petmax + courier delays and the product becoming unusable for its intended purpose after discovering health issues with my cat, I contacted Petmax before the delivery was completed. Petmax instructed me to refuse delivery to receive a full refund, but the courier entered my building unauthorized, left the package in a common area without my consent, and removed my ability to refuse it. When I tried to resolve the issue with Petmax, I was required to follow a return process I cannot complete due to my disability, yet I had to disclose it to request basic assistance and proper application of their policy. Despite this, I was offered store credit minus $17 shipping fees or a physically impossible return method. Petmax stated they work with several couriers and those couriers had limitations, which is why I was refused accessible return. Upon research, the information Petmax provided appeared inconsistent with published policies from their courier network and the available courier pickup options, that offer paperless return pickup services. Other customers are allowed returns and full refunds but I am excluded from it because I have a disability that makes certain acts physically not possible for me.

I will frequently contact them for some help if I have an issue or a question about my birds. And they're a local business, which is always nice to see and support! I mainly go for my bird needs, so I will be mostly commenting on that. They do bird boarding which is really helpful when I'm out of town. They may be a smaller store, but most pet stores have a very small selection of bird stuff, both live and supplies - Urban Zoo has a pretty big selection of everything, and they get a great variety of live birds in (Meyers parrot, Alexandrines, Amazons, Lovebirds, Canaries, and more) for sale. And they do custom orders for customers which is great because I can get exactly what I want! Which is usually a struggle with other pet stores - I haven't met another store that does custom orders for individual customers, and usually what they have is what they have. There are more than a few store-owned birds loose (like a DYH Amazon and a Rainbow Lorikeet) around the store too, and a giant rabbit and some tortoises, and a Scarlet Macaw, and just coming in to visit is a lot of fun. The store is cleaned on a regular basis as it should be (pretty much as clean as you can get with all the animals), and they have a variety of reptile and rodent livestock and supplies too. I'd definitely recommend making this your go-to store for your bird and exotic supplies.

I was offered an exchange instead because it was more than 2 weeks old and there's no warrantee (I returned it after 2 weeks and 2 days). If you decide to go here, make sure you ask about these policies. I certainly won't be back.

And when they're "too hot in the reptile room they grow wings and fly some of them". Like huh?? SoI try to explain I'm very experienced here - I'm retired but used to be very big in the reptile industry and bred thousands of my own fruit flies - and said I'm sorry but you're wrong. flightless HYdei HAVE wings and are genetically predisposed to not flying. It's a GENE. I told her yours are tainted with regular flying fruit Flies. Her answer - I'm not going to argue with you, you can just give them back. Then she repeats the same answer of why I have "some" flying around. They're ALL flying. I explained the gas would be more to drive there and return them, that I was now more concerned over the bad info she was pushing considering. She repeated the same untrue info on flightless fruit fly genetics. ?? Then she kept adding I'm not going to argue. My only concern for posting this is - what else do these workers push as qualified knowledgeable info to customers that is completely wrong??
