If you work hard this is the perfect place to relax & wind down just as much. I entered the nicely decorated lobby area & checked in easily. I've been to this spa many times over the years & recently noticed the skin & hair care products. Upon checking in you get a private locker to put your belongings. Then you can go into the bathroom to change into a soft robe with slippers, which were clean & smelled really refreshing. Next, you can sit in the waiting area until your masseuse comes to escort you to the massage room. It was relaxing white noise playing with dim lighting. Megan did a great job on my deep tissue massage. She wasn't too rough & let me chill while asking if I needed anything. I was given a complimentary mimosa afterwards, which I drank in the dry sauna. As a mom of two toddlers, it was the decompression I needed to feel so refreshed for the rest of the week! Definitely recommend as a Valentine's Day gift. read more

Visited for a massage on first visit. This visit was a FIVE. Greg was awesome Massage so good returned for brow shape, tint and lamination. The experience was so horrible I couldn't tell I had a shape or lamination. There was a slight tint however. This visit was a 1. Not a zero because the technician was pleasant although ineffective. Returned to have them fixed. Berlin did an amazing recovery job on fixing the shape. I could not get them laminated again of course since chemical procedure even though there is no evidence of lamination. Understood. At checkout told that I would be refunded $112 or $120 (can't remember which) for the visit that yielded no results and that customer service manager would be contacting me. It has been over one week now and I have not seen the refund (that I did not request, but now feel entitled to since it was promised) NIR have I been contacted by a customer service manager. I called to check on status of both three days ago and was told the person who answered would call me with an update within 24 hours since it was almost end of day and CSM lived in another time zone. Alas, I've heard nothing from her either although she was quite pleasant. A note to the establishment: while pleasant employees are wonderful follow through is all the more valuable when addressing poor service issues. read more

The Retreat Spa is THE BEST SPA! This will be my new go-to and monthly pamper place. Every single staff member I crossed paths with made sure I felt welcomed. The check-in & check out was quick and easy. They also have several complimentary beverages to choose from. The atmosphere was calming from the moment I walked in. On top of the relaxing atmosphere, the changing rooms and waiting areas were very clean. The front desk workers also need a shout out. I emailed this, as directed by the customer service manager, a week ago. They have still not responded:As a returning client, I'm incredibly disappointed by how far The Retreat Spa in Baton Rouge has fallen in terms of quality and professionalism. About 20 minutes into my massage, I had no choice but to end the session. What was meant to be a relaxing, stress-reducing experience quickly became unbearable. The therapist's technique was so poor and ineffective that I left feeling far more tense and frustrated than when I arrived. I had to tell him I was feeling sick just to get out of the session -- in reality, I was overwhelmed by how unskilled and uncomfortable the service was. It's hard not to notice that the overall caliber of massage technicians here has dropped significantly. I've had much better experiences in the past, which makes this decline even more disappointing. To make matters worse, I had a facial scheduled afterward, but given how shaken I was, I asked to reschedule. That request was denied. I was still charged 50% for both services, and when I raised my concerns, I was met with a dismissive, "It's unfortunate" -- with no accountability, no apology, and no effort to make things right. If experiences like mine are rare, then even more reason to show grace and flexibility. Instead, I was treated like an inconvenience. I used to look forward to visiting The Retreat. The Retreat was once a nice place to visit but lately the clientele lacks decorum and the staff is unbothered by this. For example, the customers freely talk on cell phones with the speakers on while awaiting services. It's ridiculous. No one wants to hear cell phone talk in a quiet (stress free) area. First of all, they have top-notch, friendly, courteous, and polite faculty that work here. My wife and I were treating ourselves to a day of pampering so we planned the works and were scheduled for all day. We started with a couples massage and that was a perfect way to start the day. Next, we enjoyed a couple of mimosa's while we waited for the next part of our day of pampering which part of the massage package, and that was getting a spa foot soak and rub. Another mimosa and it was time for my wife to get a mani/Pedi and I went to get a deep cleaning facial for men. Then we would swap. The only thing that disappointed me was that my wife wanted French tips on her nails and the girl said we won't be doing that and you can only pick from this selection of colors for the polish. Now, for the money, we were spending at this place. They could have told us up front that you have to request that service when you book (they could have explained that while booking) then the girl explains to my wife why they can't offer the French tips, gel or shellac is because they don't have a dedicated nail specialist on staff. This girl can do nails because she is a cosmetologist but she mainly does facials and make-up. She nicked my wife 3 times. When it was my turn she did a decent job. All in all, this was a good relaxing day at the spa. The only other thing I didn't like was that they suggest to you that the dry spa is available but don't allow you the time to use them.also they had all they curtains opened with all the light coming in that it took away from the spa ambiance. read more

She was very friendly but also let me relax and enjoy the service. I would absolutely recommend her and see her again. My facial was with Tamara. She was very nice and friendly. She checked my skin and asked about any issues but determined my skin was in good condition. The service was an hour but felt longer which was nice. I highly recommend this spa. While the venue is petite the service is absolutely fantastic and the experience is great. My masseuse, Carrie, was one of the best I had regarding listening to injuries and requests and then amazing technique. They also have small individual dry saunas which was great before my service. My significant other and I had the couples massage on 2/19. Both of us went to change and was given the shared between patrons the .20cent white beach slippers and the 'brown' robe which is shared between patrons and not washed in-between use after each patron. Know if you go there, the slippers and robe you will be given will not be clean and is shared w/all the other people. I wondered why a place didn't have clean and fluffy white robes, but you'll immediately find out why, you'll notice you're given a 'brown' robe; check the inside tag in the robe and you'll see how dingy and unclean the tag is....just smell the robe. Dirty. The white flip flops are dirty and scuffed up. The place is not clean. The trash was overflowing. There is hair and debris everywhere on the floors and counters and empty water bottles around. You will literally be sticking to the floor in the used dirty slippers that you'll be given. The floor throughout the place has NEVER been swept or mopped or shampooed. In the main walkway the floor is Black w/sticky gunk. We both declined the cocktail offer for fear the glassware most likely wasn't cleaned. Each of us had separate masseuse ladies. I had Bridgette and she did an awesome body massage job. 5 stars for Bridgette. I believe my significant others masseuse' name was Shay, a cute Black girl and he said she gave a 5-star massage. He tipped both ladies. The massage room we were in has a wall mirror; the wall mirror has not been cleaned. Looks like oil and some type of prints are all over the mirror in the massage room. Overall, both massage ladies gave a full 5-star body massage. Put your health first as you will be sharing the 'robe' and 'slippers' and pray you don't get a rash. The Retreat atmosphere and cleanliness is a 1 star. Some advice to The Retreat... you can easily hire a cleaning company to come in and clean up the place a few nights a week. You can also hire a laundry service and you can order online unisex disposable slippers in bulk. read more

I recently had a lash lift done by Destiny. I had never gotten one before and she made me feel very comfortable with the entire process. She explained everything she was doing as she went along, and frequently checked in with me to make sure I was feeling okay and was not experiencing any discomfort. She was very gentle and my hour with her flew by. I am so happy with the results and look forward to seeing her again in 6-8 weeks! I really enjoyed this place. My wife set up a 60 minute couples massage for us to celebrate our anniversary. We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early so that we had time to change. When we got there they had an area with a changing room, robes, sandals, lockers, and restrooms. After receiving instructions on the lockers, the gentleman helping us asked us what we would like to drink- water, tea, coffee, beer, wine, and mimosas. I decided to enjoy the moment and go for a glass of red wine, specifically a dry red. It was a great touch. My wife had the mimosa and loved it. As we sipped our drinks and sat in the lounge area we had a decent amount of time to relax and reconnect. Jessica was my massage therapist and Keshia was my wife's. They were both exceptionally professional and did great work. We felt very relaxed when we were done. I was tense from working out and Jessica did a great job with helping me release the tension. Then we were offered more drinks and the opportunity to relax in the lounge area as long as we would like. So we stayed another 20 minutes or so while I had an herbal tea and talked with my wife more. After that we changed and paid for the services. They also have little envelopes at the front counter for gratuity, with "To" & "From" written on it. Lovey touch, we were sure to take advantage of them. read more
