We came by for some ice cream after dinner. We ordered a scoop of banana pudding, hot cakes and a small sundae. They seem confused and said the sundae comes in one size but the menu states differently. We paid 20$ for 3 scoops of ice cream and one with Hershey syrup. The scoops have gotten smaller and the flavors are not as good as they once were. They have odd art on one side for sale and spray paint on the other side. It is still favorite of the local customers when the weather turn to summer hot. We got a pint of bacon porky ice cream and a pint of lavender ice cream. My wife got the spicy chocolate. All this flavors are delicious. It kind of not many ice cream store has. Overall is a good experience. The ice cream has bacon crump and lavender is my favorite. I stopped in for a sundae at Revolutionary Ice Cream (Brandon) and was surprised to get a single scoop with a brownie--definitely not what I'd call a sundae. The cashier (black hat, red shirt) didn't clearly explain what the sundae included, and when I asked about it and requested a refund, he wouldn't give his name or let me speak with a manager. The ice cream also tasted icy, like it had been sitting a while. I paid about $10 and left pretty disappointed. The employee came off rude, and there was also a younger person sitting on top of the freezer, which didn't feel professional or sanitary. Overall, not a good experience. One of my favorite ice cream places in Tampa because they have my favorite, very underrated flavor, "The one that started it all". It is a goat cheese, raspberry habanero ice cream and it is just yum! I tried it once and was just hooked ever since. I also love the Euro trash flavor which is a nutella biscoff ice cream. The ambiance is quirky and fun with mix matching tables and chairs, paintings for sale, lots of board games and my favorite is a huge map with pins to some customer's home country. It's a very unique place. They have a small television with a VHS player and lots of VHS movies to choose from. They have paintings for sale on the wall. No two tables and chairs match. Anarchy is encouraged. No two Chandeliers are the same. They have hats and tee shirts for sale. All that being said let's get down to the sundaes. The Elvis sundae has banana pudding ice cream, Porky's ice cream, it has bacon in it, bacon brittle and a few other things the most flavourful and comforting is the peanut butter sauce. That is so dog gone delicious!! The breakfast sundae has Porky's ice cream, blueberry muffin ice cream, bacon brittle, streusel, maple syrup, and more I can't remember because I think I went into a coma of happiness high by then. The young lady up front was very welcoming n informative. She gave us samples n with that the other girl came. I ordered a European Crunch, the other lovely ladies ordered the Cookie Monster. Our friend needed heres nut free and the lady did her best to ensure it was nut free for her. Couple minutes in she brought us ice cream to our tables. My god!! These ice creams are phenomenal!! Mine had these wheat honey crumpets broken into this rum n bourbon notes yummy mess of beautiful delights! It was quality built, the madam put her whole heart into making these ice creams. We stayed a couple hours to play cards, A couple more people came in to play table top games and eat ice cream. Place got half full fast. I guess they saw us in there lol. When we walked in, The Cure was playing on their stereo. Even if the ice cream offerings sucked, which they most certainly do not, the music would be worthy of 5 stars as they then played Missing Persons, New Order, The Cure again, & then Thompson Twins. Oh, the ice cream? You already know. If you don't, then you should. Creative flavors, outstanding sundae options, friendly and quick staff, and just about the coolest vibe one can experience whilst eating sweet treats. It was my first visit to Revolution Ice Cream. I've read so many good reviews about the ice cream and chill atmosphere. I wasn't as amazed as others, and maybe it was the flavor that I chose so I will be back to try other flavors. I probably should have asked for samples. The store smelled like cinnamon when I walked in. A very pleasant smell. Service was good, but it was clearly a one person show that day. She was working hard and was very super helpful. Not a single person was there for ice cream. But I did see quite a few people coming in to pick up their Matt's Fat cookie orders. They must be pretty darn good because they were picking up boxes of cookies they ordered online. These are the half pound cookies that you can only order online when they are open to take orders (or able to bake them), and they'll do a drop off delivery to the Revolution store of your choice. Anyway, I'm telling you this because I would so love to see an ice cream made with these cookie pieces or have some way of purchasing just 1 cookie. I'm not quite sure if the smell of cinnamon was from the cookies or the Matt's Fatty Roll ice cream. I'll have try that flavor next time. I ended up getting the seaward ice cream. I could barely see the description of it on the menu overhead and I even had my glasses on. It was difficult to choose a flavor with the lack of descriptions. I recommend you view the menu at revicecream.com ahead of time. The seaward sounded good but I really couldn't taste the salted caramel or coffee flavor. It was more cinnamon and cardamom, and very little of it. It was very basic but tasted good. The atmosphere is kind of a thrown together artsy and eclectic feel. They have local art on the wall for sale. There's plenty of seating and lots of parking out front. It's in that old 2 story looking strip mall on SR60 near Moon Ave. They have a couple of other locations around the bay area. This store in Brandon is the original location. It's worth a try if you happen to be in the area. The flavors are unique, and it's a popular local ice cream spot. I'll give it another shot one day soon. read more

The Revolution Ice Cream Co is a unique find in a random plaza off highway 60 in Brandon. Upon arrival, it looked closed. It was around 830pm on a Saturday. The big sign about the place was off but a blinking open sign in the window assured us they were open. The rest of the plaza was dark and closed. We walked in to a line and people waiting for their ice cream. I should have used that time to decide what I wanted because it took my a good 5 minutes to choose what flavor I wanted at the counter. Revolution offers flavor combinations that you won't find most other places. When I was first told about this place, I was encouraged to try an ice cream they have with goat cheese, habanero and raspberry. I tried it and it was good. I don't think I could eat an entire scoop though. It was sweet, spicy and interesting for sure. In the end, my fiance ordered cinnamon roll and pumpkin flavors. Both were excellent. I ordered a super chocolate one, with brownies and chocolate chips. My second scoop was an apple moonshine flavor that actually had moonshine in it. 21+ only for this flavor. It wasn't that strong but both packed sweetness and hit the spot. Revolution Ice cream is a great place for good ice cream with unique flavors in a fun and cool environment. Their walls are covered in items to purchase from local artists and the staff was super friendly and helpful in my decision to pick flavors. This place is awesome! My boyfriend and I came here to celebrate our four year anniversary because this was our first date spot. Barbie helped us today, she was extremely friendly and welcoming. I ended up getting The One That Started It All and Strawberry Jam per Barbie's recommendation, and my boyfriend had Callie's Hotcakes and Matt's Fatty Rolls. Both of the combinations were fantastic and with the ice-cream being made in house it's really the best ice-cream you can get. What a cute little ice cream shop tucked off in a plaza off of Brandon blvd. We were looking to try something new and different for dessert so I was curious to try this place. The staff were very friendly and helpful for first timers like ourselves. There were so many options to choose from. I loved that they suggest some of their favorite ice cream flavors. They also gave you samples if you were unsure on what to try. The ice cream isn't on display like other ice cream shops so don't be alarmed if you're not directly looking at the ice cream. They all have unique names for their ice creams. What's nice to know is that their ice creams are homemade. It's hard to choose a flavor bc you want to try them all! I opted for ice cream that tasted just like a cinnamon roll. Omg it was delicious. There was a drizzle that they put on top of the ice cream that really made it great. A hidden spot in a small plaza that sits back from main road. The menu is filled with a wide variety of flavors. You will have to do your research or ask questions to pick your flavor as the ice cream is not visible and the sign names although unique in display....do not give enough detail. I think I would order something else next time. I feel they probably definitely have some flavors that are top notch, I just missed the mark on this order. I ordered two scoops so i could try more than one thing.. I was not a fan of the Porky's Delight. A simple vanilla with pieces of bacon. I did not like the taste of the bacon pieces as they left a terrible after taste. I wouldn't (and didn't )waste my calories there. I pushed it aside. The second scoop was Matt's Fatty rolls. Although it was good, I didn't feel it was mind blowing as I mix cinnamon in my plain ice cream all the time so it was basic to me. The portion is very generous. I chose the waffle bowl but felt it was too thick and hard so I'd just opt for the regular cup next time. It's our favorite ice cream shop in the world, and we take all our out-of-town guests here though we moved to Ruskin from Valrico. They make the ice cream by hand each day, from fresh ingredients, right in the shop. Try some of their specials if you're feeling adventurous-some are great! I'll be the first to admit they've had some flops that I hated, but when they win, they win big. My wife loves the Euro-Trash (what can I say?) , but my personal favorite is the chocolate-habenero milkshake. I may be truly crazy, but where else can you get s brain-freeze and burn your throat at the same instant? Talk about existential cognitive dissonance--simply heaven in a cup! With its strangely coherent anarchistic theme, Revolution's weirdness welcomes wild explorations of flavors and tastes. The shop showcases local artists and kid's art and the decor's vibe feels as much electric as eclectic. You'll drive by the place, if you're not careful, so keep a lookout. The lady who was behind the counter was very nice and explained the flavors well (I forgot her name) and I had "The one that started it all", (apparently the flavor that kicked off when they first started?). I have always been a fan of goat cheese in ice cream. This one was a mix of goat cheese, habanero and raspberry. Who knew those three diverse flavors would make an excellent trio for ice cream?! The goat cheese really toned down the habanero, but still allowed enough of a kick to neutralize the sweetness of the raspberry. The flavor was very well-balanced, I loved it! It was a tough call but as a lover of all things apple I had to go with the apple pie moonshine. Also, as a lover of good whiskey, you can taste the moonshine. The place has a great atmosphere and cool local art work on all of the walls. Since it was my first time here I can't say if it always has great music playing or if it was just the woman working the counter but their music taste was as on point as their ice cream. In the corner there was a father with his two little girls and they were having a blast, so it is safe to say that this place is very family friendly. This is a stalling family-owned ice cream shop that could (maybe) benefit from appearing on Monti Carlo's new TV show, "Help My Yelp". We'd been wanting to try Revolution Ice Cream and went to try it early one afternoon. Upon entering the ice cream shop, we found it surprisingly void of customers. It was kitchy and "cutesy", but it was also very obvious that the place was rather dirty. We still decided to give it a chance because of the good reviews. We were not greeted in any way by the high school-aged male who worked there. Instead, he was deeply engrossed with his cell phone. He did put his cell phone down when we approached the counter, but he was hardly helpful with our questions. Our questions were about what is in the flavors. It was difficult to get the young man to answer questions other than to speak to us in an inaudible tone. We asked our question: "Are there chunks of peanut butter swirled into the "Nutter Fudger" ice cream? (This is what the online menu says about the flavor.) HS Guy's Answer: Mumbling. Us: "What?" HS guy, mumbling: "No. No add-ins." Us: "No add-ins?" Then we were summarily met with a funny look from HS guy. Frustrating. HS guy had the attitude that he was bored and wanted us to just get anything and go away so he could go back to his cell phone. He did not offer any samples, which they are known for providing to indecisive customers. The flavors are displayed high above the counter with each one's name hand-written on 8-1/2" x 11" pieces of very faded colored construction paper, and that was no help, because what the construction paper says and what you actually get are two different things. We respectively ordered one scoop of "Chocolate Shock" and "Nutter Fudger". Chocolate Shock is described as: Chocolate Ice Cream Chocolate Fudge Chocolate Brownies Chocolate Chips ------------------- "Nutter Fudger" is: Chocolate Peanut Butter Ice Cream Nutter Fudger Chunks Mini Chocolate Chips As soon as we sat down to eat our ice cream, HS guy went back to his cell phone. Both ice creams were painfully hard and not at all creamy. There was nothing in the Chocolate Shock but chocolate ice cream and way too many chocolate chips. No fudge or brownies were found! There was nothing in the Nutter Fudger but ice cream with no taste of either chocolate OR peanut butter. We both found them difficult to finish, as chewing became tedious with all those chocolate chips. O_o As we were finishing the ice cream, a couple walked in. We noticed they were met the same way we were. They were met with unfriendly, unhelpful HS guy. Disappointing. 34/100 read more

I was completely underwhelmed by the lackluster bacon flavor. The ice cream had a nice, creamy consistency, so that was enjoyable. But it was in no way gourmet, unique, memorable, or bacon-flavored for that matter. If you're in the area and want ice cream from a place that's not a chain, I'd say stop by and give it a whirl, because it's not awful.
