We had a wedding and reception in Seattle and a reception in Minneapolis, so I had the chance to compare what you get when you try to save money on the DJ to what you get when you spend the extra. And honestly, you get what you pay for. I won't comment on my Seattle DJ, besides to repeat that you get what you pay for. But we knew we were going to have a smaller group in the Cities and that the DJ was going to have to play a central role in the reception here. Chris was our DJ, and he was great. He was there before us, set up went fine. He rolled with the punches when a bunch of technical stuff didn't work out. He made announcements, hosted a "game show" that we did for fun, and made the 10-15 people who stayed to dance enjoy themselves. Basically, he ran the show from 6:00 to 11:00 That's not to say we didn't have the night planned out...we did. But after listening to our instructions, he pretty much controlled the room. The DJ was a professional, and so was the set up. We weren't really penny pinching on our wedding stuff, but we're not rich either. But we decided we weren't going to skimp on the DJ here, and it was one of the better choices we made during this whole process.
