My husband and I couldn't leave London without experiencing a traditional afternoon tea, and The Ritz was the perfect choice. Every bite, from the delicate finger sandwiches to the freshly baked scones and pastries, was absolutely delightful, and the tea selection was exceptional. The setting is stunning, with classic elegance everywhere you look. And if you arrive without a tie or bow, no stress!! they'll lend you one for free at the coat room, which we thought was such a charming touch. Overall, it was a truly memorable experience. The Ritz in Europe has a level of refinement and service that, in our opinion, goes above and beyond its American counterparts. It was one of the highlights of our trip and an experience we'd love to repeat.

Wow the ambience is so upscale and filled with gold and decorative detail. Was able to snag a one person reservation last minute. I had to check in my coat and got a fancy tassel with my cloak room number. All the food is refillable for no fee. Finger sandwiches were good. Really liked the chicken salad sandwich with tarragon. Desserts were all good. Loved the blueberry cheesecake tart. Victorian strawberry cake at the end was nice and light. Cranberry and white chocolate scones was brought out at the end with a plain scones to have with the clotted cream and strawberry jam which was superb. You can also switch teas for no fee. Switched from the green tea with elderberry to the rooibos since I was getting overcaffeinated. I made sure to come in an hour before my reservation to see why this hotel was so highly rated. The decor is super fancy and theres a live piano player as well as designer purses and jewelry on display.

This was such a special tea. They went above and beyond to make our experience special. They do take the dress code seriously, so make sure that gentlemen have on a suit and tie.

If you're looking for a sophisticated / high end spot for afternoon tea you have to go to the Ritz! You will need reservations ahead of time, as spots get filled quickly. It was about 75 pounds per person and included 1 hour 45 minutes of afternoon tea. There are a lot of different teas to choose from. Each person gets their own tea pot. And they bring out plenty of food including pastries, sandwiches, scones and cake. If you're looking for a place for some afternoon tea I highly recommend coming here!

Anthony and I came here for evening tea on the last night of our honeymoon and it was honestly the best way to end such a beautiful and meaningful trip. Service was phenomenal, as was the tea and the hors d'oeuvres. We both tried soooo many teas! And we had champagne as well. The teas were the best teas we had during our entire trip. This is such an elegant and sophisticated tea and perfect for celebrations. We both can't wait to come back some day!

As expected this is a MUST if visiting London! We had the best butler EVER! The ambiance is breathtaking and so ornate. The piano player made it even more magical. the finger sandwiches are ok. I'm just not a fan of eggs, tuna or smoked salmon but my friend loved all of them. The pastries however; were sooo good! I got the chocolate mint tea and my friend got the mint tea. Both were so good. Then the scones came out they were so good and almost like biscuits not like the hard scones you find in the states. PLEASE read the dress code before coming. They WILL turn you away if you are not dressed properly. It was embarrassing how many Americans were not dressed appropriately ‍

I came here in 2019 for tea (champagne too) because I heard the Queen likes this place. I see why its super fancy you feel special the staff is friendly. Just do not be a fool and forget your coat. dress nice do your hair and do not stare at other patrons. The ambiance is like a really good day dream. I had the green tea which was phenomenal, the tea cakes and finger foods were amazing. NOTE: Suit wearers... Do not forget your coat or you'll get the rentals.

We had tea reservations and we didn't feel welcomed by the staff there at the entrance. Upon arriving to our afternoon tea reservation, the experience was completely different. The staff here was beyond attentive and welcoming. Highly recommend for others to try the afternoon tea. The pastries were great and the teas were delicious.

High tea in London at the Ritz hotel, probably the fanciest tea in all of London. Jacket and tie are required as well as fancy dresses for all the ladies. The place is done up well, sophisticated as you can get. All the waiters are in tuxedos, white linen tablecloth, fresh flowers everywhere and a harpist playing whilst you sip your tea and eat finger sandwiches. You get your choice of tea and everyone gets their own little silver pot. The tea include finger sandwiches, scones and various little deserts. You you want a fancy high class tea time, this is the place to go, reservations are required. Be aware you will pay a pretty penny for this luxury.

Afternoon tea: Okay this place is really fun but I kinda felt judged/rushed the entire time. It's really expensive, but they serve you so much food! Finger sandwiches, scones, desserts, etc. I really LOVED the atmosphere. It was sophisticated, gentle, elegant, but kinda rushed. You only have 1.5 hours there, and they bring out food after food quickly. I wish it was a little slower paced but I understand that they want to be quick and convenient. I'm used to afternoon tea being relaxing, and slow but this one was a little bit of a push. You do have to dress up, so make an effort because everyone looks so gorgeous! The women are in beautiful dresses and the men in suits! The waiters are also in suits! Some make small talk but others are just straight forward for the job. I do wish more made small talk but I understand the pace if things. Overall, if you're visiting london definitely splurge a little and go! It's worth it, its fun, its something a little different, and it's worth the memories! I highly recommend! Next time, I'll practice my manners and maybe dress a little nicer (we came from California and this is beyond what we think is fancy as home lol)

The food, except for the smoked salmon, is slightly below average, feeling old and tired, despite being a fan of scones and shortbread. I hardly touched the £8/$10.69 Kingsdown still water, it's really unnecessary. It's our museum day. Between the army museum and the British Museum, we're hunting for lunch near the latter. The elegant Georgian townhouses, dating back to 1860 in the heart of Bloomsbury, caught my eye. They're next to the British Museum, on the quiet Montague Street. Prime location for traveling in London…read more My family and I arrived in London around 2PM and I received an email confirming our rooms were ready prior to our arrival. The typical check-in time is 3PM, so I was pleasantly surprised. Check-in was smooth. They mentioned two out of three of our rooms were upgraded without extra charge, but comparing my room to my parent's room, they looked the same. The only upgrade would probably be the free tin of biscuits from Cartwright & Butler. I requested to clean my room twice during my stay in London, but the staff would knock on my door each night asking if I needed anything. This level of service is something I haven't encountered, which exceeds my expectations. As for the room, it's a bit small. The rooms smell a bit musky in both my room and my parent's room. The bed was too soft and my body would sink into the mattress, which wasn't the most comfortable feeling. The hotel's gym was fully equipped with smart watch syncing features and water bottles. They had a rower, an elliptical, two treadmills, a weight machine, kettlebells, and dumbells. There are a number of restaurants and outlets within the hotel, including a Michelin star restaurant, but we did not try any of them. The room was luxurious but small. Well maintained with a really comfortable bed and pillows. Mini bar of soft drinks and water included in the room. Massive bathroom with a great shower. Awesome water pressure, especially on the waterfall faucet. Room did have a constantly lingering smell of celery that we didn't like. It's the cleaning product or air freshener that they use but it's pretty intense. Staff was incredible friendly in all interactions. Helpful with any questions and also provided us water at the front desk when we asked for extra. Only major downside was the tiny room and celery scent.

To go back a bit, last year we attempted to check into the JW Marriott Grosvenor House London…read morearound 6:30pm. Although I'd noted our check in time on our reservation, a room wasn't ready. Since we'd had a long flight and had nowhere to go they held our bags for us while we went to get food. We returned about an hour later, with still with no text about our room. Having no other space to eat we brought our food into the lounge to wait for our room and started eating, only to be interrupted and snidely told no outside food. We replied that we had nowhere else to eat since our room (more than an hour and a half later) still wasn't ready so the lounge attendant went and retrieved our keys, stating they'd been trying to reach us (not true but fine) and we went up to the room. Now this room, if wasn't the worst room in the whole hotel I would be shocked. It was down a really small corridor and as soon as we opened the door it reeked of cigarettes. It was about half the size of our room the year before and the air quality was terrible So we go back down to the front desk and I ask if we could get another cleaner room, thinking because they made us wait they were likely fully booked, but surprisingly they switched us immediately to a different room which, funny enough was already ready and had the fantastic A/C unit air quality and size we expected from last year. Funny how that happened. Fast forward to this year. I was honestly on the fence about staying again and almost posted the review above last year, but I preemptively reached out to our Ambassador to mention the issues we had and to confirm again, that our room needs to be far away from the elevators and to get 24 hour, so our room would absolutely be ready when we got there. Well they got it half right. The room (one of the worst in the house again) was ready at check in but was right next to a service elevator. We'd had a very difficult flight and problematic Uber ride, so the room being an issue again for the third year in row was really a not great cherry on top. We went downstairs to ask to switch but they tell us nothing else is available. So we go back up to the room to wait (after noticing our new keys won't work in the lounge yet again this year), except the elevators are giving me the most awful headache. So I finally call our Ambassador and get them involved and they tell me they'll call them. We head downstairs and the Ambassador team calls me back to tell me the room will be ready in 10 minutes. Fantastic. So I walk up to confirm this with the front desk and they have no idea what I'm talking about. We go back and forth and I let them know we're flying to France in the morning and leaving at 3am (it's 6:30pm by this point) so if they have no room we can go elsewhere. Somehow, shockingly they find something. Again, funny how that happened. So we get the keys re-made and go upstairs to see the room. It's still not a great room, but it's not near any elevators so we call it good. But once again, our lounge access doesn't work, so we have to go down again to get them re-made. However once we finally get access - the lounge attendant hassles us (yet again) - this time for grabbing a bottled sparkling water because apparently they changed the rules since last year and nothing can be removed from the lounge. That first year we stayed you could grab waters from the lounge to bring to your room, but sure fine, inflation. Mention it at check in and post a sign in the lounge. The next evening we get back after having had maybe 14 hours of sleep in 3 days and guess what doesn't work again - our key. They hadn't warned us the merged stay would break the key. So back down we go to get it re-keyed, only to next day excitingly discover yet again the lounge access on the new keys doesn't work. So again, we have to get new keys. While the first year was quite nice, the last two years have been the worst check in processes we've ever had while traveling. The lounge attendants are rude and the customer service experience is terrible. At the end of the day we gave them a second chance and it ended up being worse than the time before so we won't be staying with them again.
